Il Buco Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Il Buco before. The food is delicious, the service lovely, and it's a wonderful place to be able to have a conversation. It's quiet! It did not disappoint. The only negative is that the pricing is a bit high. But, certainly for a special occasion, it is a great place to eat.
After a first successful dinner a year ago, we decided to return to il Buco out with some friends. The experience turned out to be very disappointing. The service was rushed and incompetent. Drink orders came out wrong, the linguini al vongole was dry, the caprese was underwhelming and poorly presented. These are mistakes that should not occur in a restaurant of this caliber, and that those prices.
My dining partner and I returned for the dish that made fans of us on our first visit, the Mushroom-Stuffed Gnocchi With Truffle Sauce, but it was not available! Oh No! What now?! Well, with the guidance of our excellent server, our "second choice" selections turned out to be absolutely brilliant. As we devoured our Linguine Amatriciana, and Spaghetti Involtini, followed by a shared Torta Mele dessert, all three of which were mind bogglingly delicious, we grateful for being forced to branch out.
The service here is seasoned and top notch -- very friendly and gracious too. So, no need to be shy about asking for suggestions, or adjustments to ingredients. I had a delicious dish of spinach & ricotta ravioli (with truffle cream sauce) that wasn't even on the menu. My dining partner's salmon was cooked to absolute perfection and served on a refreshing green salad. This is my second visit to Il Buco after being introduced to it last week. I'm completely sold!
I consider this my local, as I can walk here. It's a lovely Italian restaurant with a great ambience, the manager and staff know us as we're either ordering from here to pick up, or eating at the restaurant (once or twice a week sometimes!).
My son loves the steak, and their thin margarita pizza is really good. I've tried several of their pasta dishes, all decent, and their salmon was excellent too.
Il Buco is a solid neighborhood restaurant, both for everyday dining and special occasions.
This was my first time at Il Buco, and I definitely got the impression that they were not new to the rodeo. Right away, upon meeting the very seasoned, professional staff, I was filled with confidence that the meal was going to be great. I'm not an easy sell when it comes to gnocchi, but once in a while I've had my mind blown by it (at a couple of other places in LA and one in Chicago). Now, I can declare that Il Buco's gnocchi is officially and without a doubt the best I've ever had in my life! It's a mushroom-stuffed affair, with a truffle cream sauce. KILLER!!! Their clam linguine was excellent too. My dining partner and I were ecstatic over our lunch!
We took our granddaughters out for dinner, and we all totally enjoyed our food. The pasta dishes were excellent. One of us is gluten-free, and the restaurant prepared gluten-free pasta for him that was delicious. The adults each had a glass of chianti, which was excellent. And the restaurant was quiet--we could have a conversation with ease. Very enjoyable experience, although a bit pricey.
This is a convenient place for meals eaten around Academy screenings. But more than that, I have found the food to be very good and the service usually very nice (there was one exception, a woman maitre d' but only once was she in charge when I was there) and our favorite corner booth is very quiet. I have come back frequently when I find myself in that part of time.
I enjoyed the time spent there, it was quiet with good and attentive service. The food was pedestrian, nothing that impressed us, but a good value comparatively to other Italian restaurants in Beverly Hills. One warning, if you don't enjoy mushrooms this is not your place. A very high percentage of dishes contain them. Might repeat for a reasonable dinner.
Whenever I come out from NYC to LA, I have dinner at Il Buco. I can always count on having an authentic Italian dinner and all around enjoyable experience. It has just the right amount of sophistication without the pretense. The lasagne, pizza, calamari and wine list are stand outs. The casually stylish setting, buzzing local crowd and warm service all add to the appeal.
Once again, Il Buco provided a great dining experience with wonderful food, beautifully served in an atmosphere of gentle elegance. Wherever you are, it's worth the drive. Go. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed and will be counting the days until your return.
First, don't believe the listing on this site about this restaurant, there is NO valet parking. And parking in this area at dinner is difficult. And when I asked the staff about it, they were rude.
The special steak Florentine was really good, but the spinach with it was spiced so that I couldn't even eat it. The salads were very good but the Oso buco is something to avoid.
