Il Buco Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit to this restaurant and as for people who really like to eat Italian food, this place is a gem. The food was amazing everything was cooked to perfection and plated beautifully. We would highly recommend this restaurant to everybody looking for an amazing dining experience.
Il Buco never lets us down. The food is always good and the mature, capable staff always make us feel like we're in a friend's home for a special occasion. I am celiac and they have NEVER messed up and given me something with gluten in it. In fact, once (a few years ago before they got other dessert options) they made me zabaglione specially so I could have dessert that wasn't ice cream!
First time visitor to the restaurant. We were celebrating our anniversary dinner. Myself, with wife and two kids. Very romantic ambiance and decor. Food and service was excellent. Kid friendly and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others.
I wish I could recall our servers name! An older gentleman with an accent; he was very attentive. We were able to sample the wine before making our final selection. The ambience was perfect for our date night. The food was delicious, with the serving size just right to enjoy an appetizer before and a dessert to complete the meal. The management came to see us too to make sure we were enjoying our evening. We felt like our enjoyment mattered. We look forward to returning!
Fabulous restaurant! Book ahead very busy but yet intamate and quiet. Great ambience - view from window to water lovely. The wine list was good and the food wonderful. They were very accommodating for my Celiac disease. Ask for Jenn as your waitress she was awesome. It was a lovely evening and food delicious.
The restaurant was fabulous. The issue we have is with Open Table. While making the reservation I tried to make it for 5 pm, your website told me the o ly available time was 4:15, so we took it against our desire.
The restaurant was empty until 5:30, we asked the server about this, they were also dumbfounded by that.
So al l on all the only disappointing part was Opentable.
Dinner was delicious, portion size good. Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable.
Did find the noise level rather high. Perhaps a couple less tables would help?
Noticed a couple of customers felt it necessary to leave their ball hats on for their entire dining experience. I would consider this restaurant to be higher end than ball hat attire. Felt the management should have requested these patrons to remove their hats.
Il Buco was a last minute find on a third party review site which boasted the delicious menu as well as the friendly service. My party of 7 - (5 girls 12 and under and 2 adults), were greatly pleased with the menu selection, the atmosphere, and the personable server who attended our table with a consistent smile and thoughtful acknowledgement of our younger crowd. The cost for our meal was under $200.00 and everyone ate and left with a full stomach. This restaurant is a definite find for food lovers (especially those who favour great service and Italian cuisine). A+
We went for my husbands birthday. Luckily we were able to have a table on the patio. I had the 6oz steak which was delicious, and the tomato and goat cheese salad to start was fantastic. My hubby wasn't that thrilled with his meal however, the veal dish was bland. The service was terrific, our waiter was very very good. The complimentary tiramisu was a lovely touch. I wish their front entrance was fixed up though...it's quite gross honestly, it's like walking into an old office building...you'd never know a restaurant was there. The other entrance, the stairs, could do with a touch up. Generally, it just needs some cosmetic fixings. Maybe some soft music outside would be nice.
My food was excellent. Two of my friends ordered the tomato salad with goat cheese as an appetizer. Both of them were not happy at receiving two thin slices of tomatoes with a huge amount of cheese. Both said they were rather have had less cheese and more tomatoes. Service was slow but our server was really nice and friendly. All in all though, delicious and enjoyable.
We went there for an anniversary dinner and requested to be seated outside on their patio. It was a nice day and the view out on the bay made it a great setting for dinner even though the boat and motorcycle engines were noisy at times. Our waiter was very friendly and jovial and commented on the items that we are deciding between. The food was plated well and it tasted as good as it looked. The entree had a good sized portion and was filling. Overall we had a good experience and would return for another dinner.
A great authentic Italian restaurant. 8 of us had a wonderful evening. The service was excellent. Recommend reservations on a weekend. Wine list was not large but when I asked for a recommendation I was given two small glasses of wine to try and pick one I liked. Nice touch. I very much recommend the location.
Enter from the waterfront side. You can access it from the Bayfield St side but not as welcoming.
Absolutely amazing probably the best dining experience I've ever had, great food, great ambiance wasn't too loud, so I could talk with my girlfriend without having to yell, really nice waiter, service was fast but not too fast so you did have time to rest between courses and talk to eachother as well, everything about the experience was amazing.
Weather prevented use of the deck, so all inside tables were full and hence the room was very noisy.
Wine is not stored in a cooler and thus even though we had a red wine, it was too warm for my liking. The lemon garlic shrimp app was very good, but the pasta special of baked penne was dry, suggesting that it was re-heated too long.
Enjoy going back to this restaurant. Never disappoints. Best Italian restaurant in the Barrie area. Great location, service, menu and very good food. Chef was accommodating in making veal piccata when not on the menu. It was excellent. Looking forward to going back.
