Il Bosco Ristorante & Bar Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed a birthday celebration here. Fresh Salad, good entrees, friendly service. Entrees we're good but lacked the spark of good seasonings. We were a bit annoyed with the loud and bragging talk from a couple of elderly gentlemen at adjacent tables, but that wasn't the restaurant's fault
Il Bosco is a hidden gem in Davidson. It is perfect cozy place for date night or special occasion. I just took my two teenage daughters there to celebrate the opening of the younger one's musical theater production- they loved it and now want il bosco to be their special birthday place.
Outstanding classic Italian menu offerings with a slight emphasis on veal. Service was as good as the food and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality. I have been looking for a good Italian restaurant in Charlotte for years. I should have been looking in Davidson.
Loved everything about this restaurant! My salad was one of the specials and was delicious! The Pollo al Zio Ciccio far exceeded my expectations! Ganache for desert was superb! Loved the quiet atmosphere and the wait staff was very informative and attentive. Well worth every penny I spent!
We always enjoy Il Bosco: good food, pleasant service, no extraneous noise. This restaurant strives for quality, not glamour. There are no over-the-top flower arrangements, for example; the restaurant is unpretentious and simply appointed. All attention is on the food, and on giving the guest a good experience. We enjoy the quiet, and actually being able to have a conversation without Muzak, loud chatter and the high noise level of so many other restaurants these days. All in all, Il Bosco delivers excellent food and service with no frills--- and that's why it is a favorite with us and many others.
My granddaughter is a picky eater and I kept telling her when she visits I will bring her to il Bosco, She is still raving about how delicious the food was and the presentation. Our waitress was also exceptional, and the owner is very friendly. I will be back with some more friends.
Thanks for exceptional food and service.
Food i is very good. Service is good as well. They, like many other restaurants struggle with seating people. We had a reservation but still had to wait as they seated people without reservations because we were 10 minutes early. Made you but a drink at the bar. There were tons of open seats. Didn't even offer to buy our drinks. Said something about not wanting to seat us so the chef didn't get slammed. So the chefs comfort is more important than mine. Why not seat us and then delay if you must. Instead, you start the evening by upsetting your customers. The people without reservations even got the nicer seating in the atrium. Guess they taught us a lesson.
Il Bosco never disappoints for real Italian with homemade pasta. They always have a fish option that is full of flavor and not overdressed. The dishes are not over salted like some Italian restaurants and there is NOT spaghetti on the menu! The waiter had a good wine suggestion and was sensitive our pace of dinner.
We will definitely return to this wonderful restaurant in the near future. Our anniversary dinner of veal marsala was fabulous. We dined quietly on the back patio surrounded by the garden and lovely fountain. Kim, our server, was attentive and so sweet she placed candles on our desserts wishing us a happy anniversary. The owner, Jimmy, was quite enjoyable to speak with stopping at our table to welcome us to the restaurant and get to know a little about us. The menu was varied and well priced.
We had a wonderful dinner the day after the Eclipse. They give you a menu to choose for your antipasto plate (like a sushi list) and the selection was wonderful. We had the sweet Gorgonzola, salty Parmesan with honey, generous portion of prosciutto, honey roasted almonds and delicious olives! Hubby had the clam pasta and said the clams were wonderful. (The large portion is HUGE and the small portion was the right size.) I had the grilled octopus on arugula and it was definitely wonderful! We had a bottle of Principessa wine by Banfi from the Gavi grape that was recommended that we both enjoyed immensely. The atmosphere was very pleasant and they have an outdoor seating area (but we cowered in the A/C!) Literally next door to the Davidson Village Inn. A lovely experience!
We always find the service and food at Il Bosco of top quality. Staff always remembers you and is always very attentive. We can't say enough about the food - remarkably delicious. This past visit we ordered the special appetizer, a fabulous crepe stuffed with ricotta, ground veal and sauteed spinach with a savory sage sauce. We also ordered the special salad of mixed greens, grilled peaches and melted fontina cheese which was equally as good. Regardless of which salad you order, it is consistently dressed appropriately. The entrees, as usual, a house made gnocchi and a house made fettuccine were delightful. Can't wait to return.
Coming from the New York area, this place was a hidden gem and an Italian oasis in a land of Southern cooking! Jimmy goes out of his way to show some Southern hospitality, but his Brooklyn upbringing is what make this place authentic. I'll be there again and again.
Our family have been patrons of Il Bosco for many years now so when it came time for our son to choose where he wanted to celebrate his having graduated high school and turning 18 it was an easy choice for him to make. As always the food was fantastic! Nick had the mussels and spaghetti. The wife and I shared an arugala salad with goat cheese and mushroom caps stuffed with snails (a first for me) both of which were incredible. I had the lamb chops and Ginny had the veal porterhouse special, scrumptious!! As a special treat they had pistachio gelato and lemon sorbet to go with the truely awesome pinole cookies!! All in all a tremendously delicious dinner but that's what you can expect everytime you dine there!!!
PS: the wine Tara choose was devine!
Quaint place with awesome food. Generous portions and very tasteful presentations. Great wine list and assistance with wine selections (after we described what we were looking for, the manager offered two options not on the wine list...and the one we chose was outstanding). Service was prompt and professional. We enjoyed apps, salads, entrees and dessert (four of us). Great time. Great food.
