Il Bosco Ristorante & Bar Ratings and Reviews
This was a miss-the-valentines-day-rush dinner for us. I had the Vitello alla Sorrentina and a bowl of the lobster bisque. The bisque was fantastic. The Vitello alla Sorrentina is pan seared veal scaloppini with prosciutto ham, fried eggplant and fresh mozzarella in a tomato white wine sauce. The sauce was light and not over powering. The veal was tender. The combination of the two meats with the eggplant was very nice. My wife had a mixed green salad and a scallop special (see photo). The salad was a nice mixture of greens, not just iceberg. The scallop dish was creative with what I recall was a beet polenta. The scallops were large and not overcooked. Again, a very nice combination of flavors.
The service (Robert) was outstanding.
We will definitely return.
We went for an early Valentines dinner and it was excellent. We each had an appetizer, mussels and calamari. Excellent. A second course a great salad and a fantastic small dish of Bologonase. Excellent. And a main course, duck breast and Veal Sorentina. Excellent. A good bottle of red wine and my wife got a dessert. One of the best restaurants in the greater Charlotte area.
This place is a true hidden gem, and I even heard other customers say that while I was dining. We were greeted by a very friendly bartender and hostess. The bartender held a pleasant conversation with us before we were seated. Once we got to our table, Tarra (not sure of spelling) was our waitress as she eloquently described the specials so well that I barely looked at the menu. I had the veal chop for dinner which was incredible!!! I started with very fresh “touristica” salad, I think it was called. Then had a half order of the fettuccini bolognese for my second course. The fettuccini was obviously fresh made and the sauce was incredible. My wife had the calamari special as an appetizer and the veal on the menu (can’t remember the name) for her entree. The most surprising part of the meal was the desserts, fresh made the white chocolate blueberry cheesecake was AMAZING!!! We did a nice bottle of barolo with dinner and the Italian wine list was pretty impressive. She couldn’t have been happier. Service was impeccable and it made us feel very welcome. It was a little bit of a drive for us to get there but well worth it. We will be regulars after this experience. Thanks for a great meal.
In a word-disappointing...
My cocktail, their version of an old fashioned tasted like straight bar mix with an orange slice and cherry thrown in. An entree special-the pheasant sounded interesting, was my first time there, so thought any restaurant that had a pheasant special would likely have a creative preparation. Not so, took a slice off the thigh and one off the breast, both tough and dry. When waitress came to check on our entrees, explained the situation with the pheasant, she was quick to take it back and offer something else. I tried one of their pasta dishes, disappointing as well, sauce was basically flavorless, an odd shade of red. Will not return.
Excellent house made fettuccini and bolognese sauce, meat and cheese plate selection, and French toast cheesecake! Nice Italian wine selection, salads lovely and veal awesome! Service is top notch with a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Great meal, we will definitely go again soon!
Il Bosco was fantastic! The server made great recommendations, food was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent, we enjoyed a lovely dining experience, food was served in a timely manner with just the right amount of time Between courses. I highly recommend the seafood pasta and the shrimp and polenta.
This has been our 4th visit in the last 3 months. Even though the restaurant was completely booked according to Open Table and the hostess, there were empty tables. I asked the owner why there were still open tables and his response was to avoid poor food quality and service. That explains why we have never had a bad meal or poor service. We have had many items on the menu and have yet to find one that was not appealing. My favorite is the pasta with mussels, shrimp and squid.
Food was good. But, service was a bit lacking. It took several minutes after we sat for a server to take our drink orders. My wife’s entree was served about 5 minutes before mine. That should never happen. The overall experience was ok. We were expecting great.
Originally from Boston and have frequented the Boston's North End where the Italian food is the very best. This restaurant was as good ... if not better than Boston's North End. Been here in the area for four years now and never tried this restaurant, but that will change. My wife and I will definitely be back to II Bosco.
Great place, truly regret not eating here before! While not cheap, portion sizes are large as opposed to other fine dining. I thought it was a great value for price. Staff was friendly and answered all of our questions. Good for casual fine dining. Nice but not pretentious.
We enjoyed a birthday celebration here. Fresh Salad, good entrees, friendly service. Entrees we're good but lacked the spark of good seasonings. We were a bit annoyed with the loud and bragging talk from a couple of elderly gentlemen at adjacent tables, but that wasn't the restaurant's fault
Il Bosco is a hidden gem in Davidson. It is perfect cozy place for date night or special occasion. I just took my two teenage daughters there to celebrate the opening of the younger one's musical theater production- they loved it and now want il bosco to be their special birthday place.
Outstanding classic Italian menu offerings with a slight emphasis on veal. Service was as good as the food and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality. I have been looking for a good Italian restaurant in Charlotte for years. I should have been looking in Davidson.
