About il Bistro Italiano
My husband Ron and I opened il Bistro Italiano in 1998 with the idea of bringing traditional food from my area of Italy to Grand Junction. I come from a small village in Northern Italy and what we serve at the Bistro reflects my heritage, but it is also the results of years of experimentation in using local ingredients in an "Italian" way. Part of our menu is deeply traditional and part is more "innovative Italian cuisine". This philosophy in food is also reflected in our focused wine list which features an extensive selection of Italian and Colorado wines only. Our full service bar also presents several Italian liquors including a variety of grappas. We offer different seating options: a main dining room which seats about 50 people, a smaller dining room that seats about 25 and that is available for private functions, a few tables in the front of the restaurant with a good view of our open kitchen, and a covered and heated patio available from March through November.

il Bistro Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Awesome experience. Our server Fernando made our anniversary dinner special and topped it off with an amazing complementary Tiramisu. Prices were very reasonable and the small plates enabled us to have an appetizer and soup and dessert and be completely full! We will be back!
restaurant is modern and bright. waiter was very attentive but it did take a long time to receive our meal- luckily it was a business group and we were happy to talk with one another. everyone loved their meal but I felt the menu was too limited- no pasta and meat sauce and no pasta and seafood. could not substitute pasta for potatoes without paying extra.
Homemade pasta! What a treat to walk into Bistro Italiano and see their little homemade pasta nests and beautiful desserts. Sat outside on Saturday night...perfect weather and lovely service. Food was terrific. Daughter had the pasta pomodoro...not your mom's, but certainly mama's...delicious. I had the chicken piccata with mashed potatoes which was also yummy. The goat cheese patties for an appetizer are lovely and very hearty...with a green salad could almost be a main course. Chocolate cherry tart was super good as well. Can hardly wait to go back.
Service was great .Nicholas, our waiter , was knowledgeable and great personality. He seemed to have all the tables outside... so he was a little busy. The water boy? Mason? Was great. Funny kid. We don't drink - he kept our glasses full! Food was good... not great. It seems an Italian Restaurant would have a few more pasta options AND... they don't have bruschetta on the menu!!! ( gasp! ) that being said - we'll be back and highly recommend Italiano ...
After 3 months away from GJ, we got together with Family for dinner. Hoping for a pleasant meal and gathering with our Daughter & 3 year old Grandson @ 6:30PM.
However, it was not very pleasureable, because service was too long in coming, especially for the 3 year old. And the food was not as in previous visits.
It finally did arrive, more than an hour later, at differing times for each @ the table. The salad had a foreign object in it that could have broken a tooth. The waitress was kind enough to deduct the salad. The main course was not warm and it was dry. Needless to say our Daughter and Grandson had to leave early, almost 8PM, an hour and a half later, because it was close to his bedtime.
My wife and I did receive a complimentary desert, which we decided to take home when we finally left the restaurant shortly before 9PM.
We have been long time patrons of this restaurant, but I am sorry to say that it has not lived up to its previous reputation.
Maybe by the time we return for another meal, the owners and management will have these short comings corrected. If they don't........CIAO BABY!
First and most importantly the food is so consistently the best in GJ. What's good food with crappy service? You won't find out here! The service is also consistent and professional and also friendly. It's always a joy to dine at il Bistro--I always choose it for special occasions, but it's the perfect place to turn any random Wednesday into a special occasion!
My wife and I went to Il Italiano Bistro for our wedding anniversary. I was really nice. We had to ask for ice in our water. The street noise was too much. We were seated outside, not given a choice. The food was OK. No pot roast like we had the last time, bummer. The service was excellent. Grand Junction resident.
Love the outdoor seating option, even with some obnoxious drivers! The seating in the front of the restaurant in the winter is the best especially on a snowy night. The staff treats you as if you are family even if they've never seen you before. The food is always fresh, unique and plentiful.
It was good. Two small lasagnes and the Calabria pizza. Joe was looking for the costellette. We thought maybe it would return for the cold weather.
I will say there are no white wines I look forward to having at Il B. They're fine/okay but really not very tasty.
Thank you for providing a great dining experience.
At first glance, it looks like a typical old-school Italian restaurant, but we were surprised at the creativity of the dishes (especially the starters) and ended up just eating a few of the starters for our meal. Most starters featured local greens and veggies, etc. Wine list is good, but all Italian, so set your expectations. Tiramisu is awesome! We had great service, too.
We have been dining with Ron for more than forty years which includes the Il Bistro from the beginning. Our dining experience was - once again spot on in every category, food quality, service , ambiance - even the damn ice - absolutely perfect with Baileys, melts and holds the flavor till the end. For real food, prepared to perfection, and all that goes with it - there is no better place to eat. Thank you for providing the opportunity - a fine dining experience.

Excellent food and service, a lovely ambiance outside in their outdoor seating. Specialize in using local foods, and their cuisine is perfection. Rave reviews from my dinner partners who were from urban areas out of town. Love Main Street in Grand Junction overall.
This a restaurant that I have wanted to for many years but for one reason or another it was too busy for us to get in. The menu is differerent than the Italian venues we frequent in the east, NY and NJ. Their menu is fresh, creative, braving new ideas and ingredients but not departing so far to be urecognizable from its origins. Second to the menu, the wine list is remarkable and unexpected. The choices include many locally grown and vinted selections, several from european, French, Italian, German, Spain, then South American, North American, Californian, Oregon, New York State. Just amazing. This is one you will not forget and will want to return to again and again.
Good Italian in heart of downtown Grand Junction. Food was a bit bland, but good, and the service was excellent and timely. Great people watching spot near windows looking out onto plaza and Main Street during Farmers' Market Thursday night. The gazpacho was reported to be excellent, but the peach piazza, mushroom and chicken sausage pasta, while tasty, needed more seasoning and spice to liven it up. Good homemade pasta noodles, however.
Our favorite downtown Grand Junction place, but service from kitchen was horrible this time.
Over an hour from order to main courses. No reason, was not busy when we arrived. Good wait staff, but need to improve good timing!! No excuse, we may hesitate to return unless kitchen problem is corrected. My entree was overcooked and served cold, probably from sitting in kitchen for a hour!
The service and the food was great! We wanted outside seating, and they accommodated our request. This particular night there were quite a few flies we tried to shew away. Not the restaurant's fault, but a small annoyance just the same. Will we return to this restaurant, indeed! But I think we'll sit inside until the weather cools and the insects are less active.
