The facci was good, however pastas were mediocre. Got the linguine vongole and some $60 special pasta with oxtail and truffles. The pasta consistency for both dishes was a bit dry and clumpy. Possibly old batch of pasta. Ive dined there at least 4 times and remember their pasta being better and more moist. Might have been a bad night for them. Desserts were pretty good. Their pistachio gelato and lemon ricotta cheesecake was good but their chocolate cake with vanilla gelato was just okay (not worth ordering imo)

Simply the BEST

I was looking forward to checking this place out, but I was disappointed. I waited at the front desk for a long time before anyone greeted me. The pasta dishes were good, but so so.

Franco creates amazing dishes. From the calamari friti, ensalada, butternut squash ravioli, wild boar bolognese, all were exceptional and perfectly done.

I highly recommend ilBarone for lunch, dinner or any special occasion.

Horrible service. Three meals were good and mine was inedible. Server never came to check on us and the service was very slow. 2 hours for lunch is way too long.

Two food issues, beyond, the understaffed service: (1) Female Manager goaded us into ordering a special, the ricotta souffle with white and black truffles. I asked if it was a "proper souffle" and she said it was...however, it was actually a twice-baked variety (i.e. like a cheesecake texture, not a souffle) and it had zero white truffles. As if we couldn't know the difference. (2) Housemade pastas are nice, however, they are very thick here so not artisan (but I believe they are freshly-made, but more starchy than box pasta) . I won't find our repeat business with so many better choices in OC.

IL Barone is home ! From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave ; Donatello and her team are like family ; the food is authentic Italian and the choices are many!
This is a must for a wonderful night of good wine and good food in an ambiance of the old country!

Outstanding food, wait to hear about all the specials before making a decision. But don't miss the veal milanese.

Food amount and quality was fabulous, ambiance was great, easy parking and access, reasonable prices. Drinks were fabulous. Definitely a go!!

Always a solid restaurant, excellent food and service

We had an early dinner with friends and their 2 small children. Even though the children are so well mannered and well behaved for their age, small children are never easy for servers. However, the staff was amazing! Patient and accommodating! Thank you!

The food is always delicious but I miss their breadbasket (particularly the crispy flatbread and breadsticks).

Everyone was very welcoming. The server, Laurence (French), was very attentive and got us just what we wanted. The service was just enough! Seems like when we wanted service someone was there, and when we wanted to be left alone, no one interrupted. A PERFECT first experience. It won't be our last visit for sure!

I went to the other restaurant off campus and always had a great experience. Tonight I was meeting an old friend for dinner. She had never dined there and I had not been to the new location. Rather than going to North or Davios, we decided to try here. There were only about 3 other tables filled and the service was so poor. The waiter was not friendly and even seemed bothered by serving us. I had an empty glass of wine waiting for him to come back to check on us after we ordered a salad and was standing in the kitchen talking to the other waiters. I had to get up and walk over to ask him for another glass of wine. I was so disappointed and will not be returning or recommending it. There are too many choices in OC. Service should be the top priority & provide your guests with a great experience.

Staff is amazing professional they know all the day Specials in details. The Specials and that it’s family owned makes me want to come back!!

As always the food and the service were outstanding. They make you feel like family the minute you walk in.
My husband and I both had the fish specials. Mine was enough to take home for lunch the next day. It was just as good the next day. Outstanding...

I love taking family and clients to Il Barone. They have excellent food and service.

The service is excellent. The food was delicious and the recommended wine was perfect. Always enjoy visiting Il Barone with friends as the atmosphere, service and food are consistently great!

Food & service were acceptable . Atmosphere was a little strange - only 5 tables in restaurant on a Thursday night at 7:30
