Good food and service, nice feature to have a club within in the restaurant...
My friends and I absolutely LOVE Iguana's. Food was wonderful! We will definitely be going back.
Gad a great time! Good service and good food.
The food was terrific. The service was good, and the obnoxious whacko loudmouths who were seated near table the last time I was here were happily absent! I'm glad I came back!
Went there to see Vince Giodarno and the Night Hawks. I was pleased with the performance and was greeted by the hostess and the band leader. Good dance floor.
The music is superb on Mondays and Tuesdays when absolutely authentic and well selected examples of 1920's and 1930's jazz are very skillfully played live by Vince Gordiono his Nighthawks. Their enthusiasm to vividly bring back the sound of America during Prohibition is unquestionably palpable if not historic, a good reason to crack a bottle excellent wine with a memorable dinner.
While chomping away at any of the fine dinner selections and emptying that bottle of wine the aural ambience is remarkable. The live music is clearly heard over many conversations and enhanced via a combination of the native room acoustics and the even distribution of the additional appreciative diners. There's even a visual effect due to highly professional staff who know the menu items well and can offer valuable selection advice. The food prices aren't frightening but don't forget that this is New York City.
For visitors, domesticaaly or from abroad, this venue offers a glimpse of America and its unique very popular musical style that characterized the crazyness before the stock crash destroyed it forever.
No liquor license. They state they have a full bar and do not. They also do Not tell you this until you are sat and have ordered.
Expensive, very disappointed, the service was very good, but food was mediocre
was decent food, but what kind of resto doesn't have alcohol available before a show?
They lost their liquor license. Not sure when they are getting it back but puts a damper on the evening for sure. Because of it, the place was kind of dead when we arrived and even with it being slow, service was mediocre at best. Too bad because food was actually exceptional
THis was the most disappointing part of our entire NYC trip. The food was blah, the service was poor, the bar was shut down (not sure if they got in trouble or if the city shut them down or what) and the prices were ridiculous. A bowl of guacamole was $16 and a bowl of queso was $14. $30 for guac and cheese??!!! Will never return, no accommodation with bar being closed, save your money!!
Great spot for some authentic Mexican. Guacamole was tableside and delicious. Fajitas were great!
Great place to have a Thanksgiving dinner or similar event. Service was great and overall was a great value.
Our annual Thanksgiving Day event! 15 years and love seeing the staff.
Food was mediocre. Drinks were good.
Horrible, slow service. We were seated next to the reception area and the loud phone rang our whole meal.
Pre-show dinner. Headed to a play afterwards.
Too loud to talk but that it part of the energy. Waitress was spaced out. She couldn't answer basic menu questions. Took our order then vanished. Our enchiladas came fast. They were pretty good. We also ordered soups and salads. No show...10 minutes we ask where our waitress is and a manager appears. We tell him our concerns and he makes it all good and gifts us a free drink or dessert.
Our $52 bill was not worth the what we got. They enchiladas were appetizers.
Grateful to the manager but will not be visiting again.
Food was disgusting. Besides the guacamole, everything had been made hours earlier and left sitting under not very hot heat lamps... health department should be called because hot food should probably be hot.
Guacamole was made with unripe avocados. I guess the thought is if you beat an avocado into submission it will taste good?
House special margarita with patron - round one: good, clean tasting. Second: clearly made from mix with cheap tequila.
And the hostesses were useless and didn’t know what “we’ve got theatre tickets” meant.
The food and drinks were excellent, and the decor festive. Making a reservation was easy and they got us in and out efficiently before our Broadway show.
My wife and son and I were going to the theatre and needed a place to have dinner before the theatre. Iguana popped up in out search and it had good reviews and ratings so we tried it. The ambiance was very nice, a little louder than we’d have preferred but the food, service, decor and ambiance were really very nice. We enjoyed out meal, never felt rushed, were able to converse without having to shout and would highly recommend this restaurant.
I don't understand the high rankings. The food was far from authentic. It tasted like Mexican food you get from SYSCO or some other food service program. Don't waste your money here. Go to Toloache. It's a million times better and truly authentic.
Fourth time at Iguana. Always great service and food. The sangria is a must have.
We went to Iguana with a group of 6 (three couples.) Started at the beginning of our dinner we would like checks split by each couple. They told us no. Food was brought out that was initially not ours and they insisted it was. Turns out it was the table’s sitting two tables over. Waiters were not personable and did not care to take drink orders, we had to request every refill. Food was good but not worth the price or the experience.
I have been coming here for over 6 years... this was my most unpleasant experience. I really enjoyed my Avocado Relleno. The service was very slow for my party of 8. The other dishes were a bit bland. The guacamole was delicious as usual.
The DJ down stairs repeatedly lost the interest of the dancing crowd.
I was there to celebrate my best friend's birthday and they did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Mariachis came to sing happy birthday and they added that special touch to our night. The lounge area was nice and fun. Our bartender was attentive and the drinks were yummy.
I celebrated my birthday at Iguana on Saturday night and had a completely amazing and unexpected experience. The service is outstanding. All waitstaff are incredibly attentive--beyond attentive actually! There is always someone available to bring something extra to the table too. I ordered the enchiladas, which in truth were not very good. But they were also luke warm so I sent them back to be heated. The plate came back with a completely new meal and a note written in sour cream, "Sorry about that" on top--we were hysterical! Then they put a Mexican hat on my head while about 10 waiters sang happy birthday. A little while later I got another hat while the Mariachi band sang happy birthday. My family had Fajitas and Quesadillas which were good. The frozen Margarita was very good. The place is beautiful, with magical tiny white lights and lovely decor. All in all, the food was ok but it was a really fun place to go.
The food was great the service i love the dance floor and wasn’t to crowded
Thought the food and service excellent. The noise level was unbearable. However our waiter and staff did everything to try to make us more comfortable moving our tables twice. I would return however maybe at more off hours.
The staff or rather my waitress was unfamiliar with the menu so everyone ended up ordering the same - salmon. There are so many great dishes they should suggest top options. Unfortunate.
Iguana has top service along with friendly and helpful wait staff . Two people in my party had steak fajitas and they were cooked as ordered, medium rare along with many delicious side dishes and tortillas .
We enjoyed the Mexican music serenade which was at a pleasant volume so we could still have conversation.
Upsrairs , was a bar scene and dance floor that seemed to be heating up. But we were off to the theater next door Studio 54. Very convenient.
An excellent bite of authentic Mexican cuisine in midtown. Very attentive wait staff on consecutive uncrowded lunchtime visits.
Restaurant service, food and value was excellent. The only thing was the upper level (dancing floor) there is no sitting unless you reserve a table and consume upstairs. But, overall is a good and affordable place to have a good time.
Food was nothing special for an insane amount of money. Would only recommend coming here for happy hour pricing before 7pm.
Staff was friendly, accommodating, and professional.
Great guacamole, made at your table. Very nice selection of beers and appetizers which work very well as main courses. The noise level can be loud at times. The bathrooms are on the lower level, down a long flight of stairs which may pose a problem for anyone with mobility issues. The wait staff is very pleasant and courteous. Iguana's location makes it a great pre or post-theatre choice.
I was there on a Saturday for lunch and it was quiet ; only 6 other people there. On a Wednesday it gets lots of people for lunch. There's a club there at night for dancing and drinking.
We were there for both lunch and dinner on the same day - service was friendly and quick - best nachos ever. Really inventive features.
Fantastic service. Great food and drinks. Perfect for post/pre theater.
Very good food but expensive for Mex. Waitress was not friendly or attentive.
