Ichi Sushi and Sashimi Bar
This intimate London sushi restaurant is cool and contemporary in design with a choice of seating at the sushi bar, watching the skilled sushi chef’s or at tables throughout the restaurant. This contemporary South Bank Japanese restaurant is ideally located near the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, National Theatre and Royal Festival Hall.
Lovely little spot tucked away close to waterloo station, surprisingly empty for Sunday lunch time. Its in a hotel, perhaps thats why it was more quiet than most places in London. Lovely waitress and delicious vegan sushi options. Will be back.
Fine quality sushi, efficient service, at a reasonable (for central London) price point, slightly undermined by the tackiness of the hotel in which it is located (cheap bling meets conference).
Enjoyable but pricey for the overall ambiance and experience.
The restaurant was nice and the food was good.
However there was one waitress who was not very pleasant with us. I think her name was Maria Claudia.
We arrived at the restaurant 45 mins before our booking and asked if we could be seated earlier. There was a guard who told us to go in and choose a table, but I wanted to check with the waitress first. I asked Maria Claudia, and she said, without checking anything and in an impolite manner, that they have reservations and cannot seat us before our reserved time. Although, the restaurant was completely empty except for two tables.
That didn't bother us since we knew our booking was still 45 mins away, and there could actually be reservations before us. however, we sat exactly opposite the restaurant and we could see the whole restaurant and tables. We waited 45 mins, and during that time only one or two tables were used and the rest were all empty.
Nonetheless we went in at our reserved time. After looking at the menu we had few questions for the waitress, so we called Maria Claudia. She seemed on edge as if she really does not want to answer our questions, she kept looking away and rolling here eyes. We asked her about an item in the menu if it can be swapped for something else, she replied "No I don't think so, that's what's on the menu", so I asked her you don't think so or are you sure? She then said I don't think we can do it. So I politely asked her to check with the chef, she agreed but never came back to inform us.
We were then served by two other waitresses who were both very professional and nice.
Would recommend to everyone, lovely place, great food.
Excellent quality, great friendly service all at a very reasonable price bearing in mind the Central London location
The food is great - really, very good. Some of the best sushi in London. But the chairs are so, so uncomfortable it is impossible to relax and enjoy the experience of being there
I did not listen to the negative reviews about the food quality, also because it is in a fine hotel, it looks good, and that we went no seating available. What the fact of the matter is, for the quality of the food it’s too expensive, it is really not flavorful sushi which is quite odd. My guess is that the fish is all been previously frozen, may not be very fresh, and they’re not very skilled at property making the special sushi rice
Food was great, the waitresses seemed a little cold and unwelcoming
Good but not the best I have had.
Was ok - food was a little bland and service average. Small dining area but good for a quick bite if you fancy sushi
Un peu bruyant mais bon.
Wouldn’t recommend as you can get much nicer and cheaper sushi/sashimi/nigiri/etc at a nearby Japanese shops/cafes (like “Wasabi” or “Kokoro”). The only thing that we liked is that the restaurant is situated in a beautiful Park Plaza Hotel with gorgeous interior and views.
Small venue inside the hotel complex. Great window view where i was seated.
Lovely surroundings perfect for a date.
Full bar menu and lounge bar just outside the restaurant.
Wait staff very friendly, service was quick.
Serving sizes were small so i had two rolls and a starter which made my belly content.
I do not recommend for a large group.
Very good and quick sushi. We had 2 of the set menus and they came very quickly and efficiently. We were both totally stuffed afterwards.
I am italian and I was in London on holiday...I went two times because it was very very good
The service was friendly and kind. Well done!
Food is terrible and over ptice
This is a lovely restaurant with fantastic Sushi options. I was concerned about if this was an appropriate venue for Father's Day lunch. (My children enjoy sushi and opted to take Daddy for a sushi lunch). The waitress was very accommodating and very kind to the kids. We were made to feel very welcome and the ambiance of the restaurant made this a slightly special lunch. The food was lovely with the children getting to try some different sushi options. Everything was presented beautifully too. Thank you Ichi Sushi and Sashimi Bar we will visit again.
Awesome food and great service
Pre-theatre light dinner with my elderly mother and gluten-intolerant sister - Sushi, should have been just the ticket!
Despite there being only one other table occupied, we were, strangely, seated right next to them, at a corner table. The couple at the other table began heavy petting and discussing, loudly and in detail, their appreciation of each other’s bodily parts. Whilst the nature of their conversation is of no fault of the restaurant, I would have expected the staff to have intervened at the point of dry-humping!
The sushi was unpleasantly chewy and apparently not gluten free, due to the unnecessary addition of non g/f soy sauce to the rice, although they do offer g/f soy at the table! Just wasn’t our night.
On the other hand I can nighly recommend “Witness for the Prosecution” staged within the old council chamber at County Hall.
Really good food but a bit expensive. It is situated inside of the hotel so can feel daunting if you casually going to eat there.
Was a small venue but managed to sit at the bar. Great food. Nice service. Would go back.
we ate very well the service was great and we were served by a very good and friendly waitress (Claudia) I recommend the sushi was very fresh.
Very small and cosy bar and sushi was very tasty although a little overpriced.
Have been here a few times now and always leave very happy!
Very small portions for what your posting there are alot more sushi places in London, that serve a better variety and good size portions for that cost and could leave with a full belly.
Food was decent but overpriced! Two pieces of salmon sashimi that were 1.5 inches for £7 ?!Terrible service too with pushy waitresses.
Lovely attentive staff, nice location adjacent to the window, gorgeous food. Everything just right
Second visit, great location with views over Westminster Bridge and River Thames. Lovely food presented beautifully. Good range of drinks including cocktails and extensive list of Sake.
The Fatty Tuna was exceptional - slight odd seating service was pretty good aside from a slight issue with our order.
Worth a visit if you are in the area but not worth going out of your way for
Quick bite before heading off to the theatre. Cute and cosy, a good start to the evening especially if time is a factor. Food wasn't mind blowing but it is a decent standard and was enjoyable.
The first table we were given was two lounge chairs and a 18” x18” coffee table. I had to ask to be set ata proper table. The meal was part of a NYE offer with a set price of 95.00 pounds per person. Not worth the money. The sushi was not fresh and had a three day old fish taste. Service was slow and not very attentive. We had to ask for water three times.
First of all, the restaurant is in the Plaza Hotel, and it has a strong 'hotel feel', which you may like or you may not. The sushi was not good at all, particularly the dragon rolls, where the fish was almost minced inside. Overall, the fish didn't feel too fresh and portion of fish in the sushi was not generous.
Sushi and sashimi were very fresh, variety of options available. We had beef tatiki (very tasty), duck spring roles (average), Katsu Chicken (very good), selection of sashimi - excellent and beautifully presented, tender and fresh, section of roles - also very good. Staff were very efficient and spent the right amount of time at the table and offering refils etc. The restaurant is just off the bar area and very small. The hotel itself is a typical busy hotel bar. Therefore venue can lack intimacy for a romantic date location.
Good atmosphere in general but need some serious improvement on the service and staff management.
The soft shell crab was terrible, coated in a crude cheap batter and not crispy at all. The chicken kara age roll was very dry and tasteless, almost as if they had used some low quality chicken goujons from a supermarket in the roll. The salmon sashimi only came with 2 pieces. Very poor value and quality for a very high price.
The view, the service and the sushi were excellent! Loved it all from the started till dessert! Thanks
Very good, very tasty. Whenever I go to London I go to this restaurant. It’s always a pleasure.
Large group turned up. All tables moved so we were left a single four in a big space, felt as if we had gate crashed a party! Group were really loud and as a result our service was slow.
