Was happy with this restaurant and the food it had to offer. The only down side was the acoustics that came from the theater next door. Not the restaurant's fault, but they said the theater got a new sound system and the bass was loud and beating loudly throughout the night.
Food is consistently awesome. Romantic ambiance, perfect for a date but also a great gathering spot for friends. Don't miss the squash dumplings
The new host was just terrific and made great accommodations for my party of three
Noise from icing plaza next door was kinda annoying but can be overlooked because food was really good.
Great location near theatres east of Union Square Park - casual and fun - service was great!
Food was interesting - not for foodies, but well planned.
Our waitress was attentive and engaging. Red snapper was excellent. The restaurant is in a pleasant neighborhood by Union Square; situated on the corner of the block.
Absolutely fantastic experience. Went here with 3 friends just for a get together. The hostesses and bartender were very nice and friendly. Our waitress Emily was great and helpful. The food was all delectable as was the Nero d’avolo wine. Very nice cozy ambience, would be a great date spot. Highest food recommendations are the squash dumplings and the steak as well as the apple crisp for dessert. 10/10 will be back.
Not a great value. Food was good but overpriced for brunch in Union Square.
Just stopped in as soon at they opened for Happy hour with a friend. only $7 beers and cocktails which is not a bad price. Happy hour is also available in the dining room and not just bar area which was great! I would say the food was decent but we didn't really go there to ear so that was okay. nice ambiance and friendly staff. would definitely go again!
Food is OK. Service very good. Not sure I’ll be rushing back.
It was very very noisy and crowded tables. But the food was delicious
Waitress was very good. They did not have two things that I ordered, but comped me a drink. Order the special, ribbeye, but my bad I didn't ask the price, $48. It was very fatty snd grisly. Way ovrr priced.
Waitress was rude but food came fast and was good
was good location to Vineyard theatre and a good brunch
The food here was really good, although they were out of several dishes when I went. It was CRAZY loud due to an event going on in their sister restaurant next door. It’s a small place but they fit in what they can without cramming people together.
Really liked this little gem in union square. its small but able to get a table on saturday afternoon, loved the chicken biscuit and the gravy is a must!
The food was fantastic! I really enjoyed the southern chicken thigh platter. The chicken was crispy, the gravy was rich and not salty, and the biscuit was homemade and delicious. This was supposed to be a place nearby to get a quick bite before a movie, but I will have to make a special trip to eat there again.
The food was tasty, but they should warn customers that some of the pasta entrees are quite small
Food was fantastic, service was excellent, and there is a lot of attention to detail inside the restaurant. Would recommend for a brunch outing as there is a nice southern-inspired brunch menu.
The "Impossible Burger" (a vegetarian option) was fantastic! I've never tasted another that was so close to the taste of ground sirloin.
Suits every occasion
Food was delicious and surprising. The Kale salad was simple but so flavorful. The Duck with wild rice was rich but not heavy.
Came to Ichabod’s on a whim before a concert next door. The ambience is lovely. Had some happy hour drinks, which is awesome they offer them at the tables, as most places do not. And had a bunch of bites—the chicory salad, ribs, hangar steak and tuna tartare. All were delicious!! Great little spot! And the drinks were outstanding too
Arrived on time to our reservation and even though the restaurant was half empty, the receptionist said she couldn’t seat us yet. So we sat immediately at the bar and ordered. Ten minutes even after we ordered dinner, the receptionist said our table was ready. For that, we won’t be back.
Good food, service and value
We were there early on a Saturday. Food was quite good, but the noise level was terrible. Tables are very close together; the group next to us was somewhat drunk and yelling at each other. The service was intermittent. Dinner was exhausting. A shame, because the food was good. We will not return or recommend.
We made the reservation, but when we got there the restaurant was closed...leaving us scrambling to find another alternative during a busy time of night. What good is the service if it's not providing accurate information on a basic level?
Amazing restaurant! Very romantic and great ambiance.
We were looking for a good brunch before a movie near Union Square. Ichabod's menu and prices were appealing and we were not disappointed. My husband's fried chicken and biscuits were generous and delicious. I had the diner breakfast which was equally good. Service friendly but not intrusive, and the ambiance was cozy and attractive.
Always a great dinner and impeccable service..a must try. I'm never disappointed
This place is excellent: food is great, as is the service.
The food was excellent the service was great really fun time
We had brunch food. Everyone was happy with their food. (The french toast was very tasty.)
We did not like the fact that although we arrived on time for our reservation, which had been confirmed by the restaurant twice, we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. There were 4 of us and when we did get a table it was situated in an awkward spot which made it difficult for all of us to talk to each other. It was very noisy and we had to ask for water and coffee several times before it arrived.
If you like noisy, crowded places with good food, then it is fine.
Awful. Never leave reviews but this was really bad.
We were a party of 3 and squeezed into a table by the front door. Every time someone opened it, it was freezing. Servers kept walking behind my chair and so I couldn't keep my jacket close to me. We ordered 3 apps and 3 entrees and told the server we were planning on sharing everything. Instead of asking us if we would like to course it our or coursing it herself, they sent us every dish that we ordered. When we asked her to slow it down she said it was busy and the kitchen was trying to get us everything. We felt rushed and uncomfortable. Then we asked to cancel one of our dishes because there was so much food on the table and we didn't feel the need to spend anymore money there. She told us the kitchen had already started working on it and then the manager came over and told us she didn't think she could cancel it without even walking back into the kitchen. All in all, the food was delicious and our $75 bottle of wine was nice, but the service was so strange and awkward I wouldn't recommend or return.
A charming little spot with friendly service and probably the best burger I've had in quite a while. I would recommend this place highly to anyone.
The restaurant is adorable. The staff was friendly, the service was great and the location was convenient for friends from Brooklyn and UWS.
My only complaint was in my lack of planning as I didn't look at the menu in advance when it was recommended and there were very few options for a vegetarian aside from the kale salad. I ordered the cheese grits and 2 pouched eggs. The grits were TOO DIE for - which coming from a Southerner is high praise - but an hour later I needed to eat again. My friend who is also vegetarian got the eggs benedict and they were happy to leave off the canadian bacon. The mimosas and Bloody Mary's were great and our waitress was super fun and engaging.
I'd definitely recommend the restaurant for a meal or just a fun place to grab a drink but check the menu if you are vegan or have a limited diet.
