Grt band. Jambalaya was grt too. bar service a bit too slow
Great food, great service and great music!
We enjoyed a great evening at the Ice House, celebrating the end of a very busy work season. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. We were lucky enough to be there to hear the Dixie Power Trio. We were a little nervous that it might be too loud, but were pleasantly surprised that the music was entertaining and not at all overpowering. This was not our first dinner at the Ice House but it had been a long while. We are happy to have re-discovered this great gem in the heart of Herndon.
Food was ample and delicious. Excellent service from the moment we arrived.
We just happened to pick this place for dinner while visiting from out of town. The menu is exquisite and diverse. The Jambalaya is particularly tasty. I enjoyed the up-tempo live blues and it makes for a pleasantly jovial ambiance. My schedule is such that I will be in this area on a yearly basis and I fully intend to visit for dinner next year as well.
The live music was too loud - it was good - but the room is too small.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife, enjoying the crab cakes, filet, and Bourbon shrimp. The service was consistently attentive without being overbearing. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and had a good amount of heat without being over powering. The birthday surprise of the House special banana swirl cake was appreciated and delicious. Will definitely come back and recommend!
If you like Jazz and great food in a neighborhood casual restaurant you will truly enjoy this pub like restaurant. We have gone many times the food is outstanding and service is great and we love the music. Just celebrated our Anniversary there. It was great. We will be back in the near future.
Oysters were great, the Creole Jumbalaya was tangy and very good. The place was relatively empty since it was a Tuesday night but the server was rather slow but the food was good.
I ordered the Rockfish special. It was covered in lump crabmeat and served with roasted vegetables and orzo. I thought the Rockfish tasted fishy so I sent it back. The waiter was very gracious and suggested some grilled shrimp. He brought me a skewer of beautiful grilled shrimp, along with the most delicious roasted vegetables and sauted spinach. It was wonderful.
Food was good. Service was good. Pricing was fine. Parking was good. Bathrooms were clean.
The Ice House has changed since I was last there, which was years ago. It was very loud, with a group of guys at the bar. We asked to be reseated due to the noise. I wanted to bring my wife to a romantic, quiet dinner, with soft jazz playing. That didn't happen. And, there was no jazz. The food and server were excellent!
We were surprised to see tables so packed together in a $$ restaurant. Service was quick and food was very good. We were so close to the tables next to us that we could hear everything and I was afraid of hitting them with my elbow. We got charged for 2 appetizers when we only ordered one. We noticed after we paid and the waiter wanted to reimburse us out of his pocket. We found that confusing and uncomfortable.
Great service, wonderful food, and plenty of parking to the left of the restaurant. We appreciated the warm welcome and felt well cared for without the staff being intrusive. We left the wine selection to them and it turned out to be a marvelous selection and moderately priced. All three of us had the fish special and it was done well. Desserts-bread pudding, flourless chocolate cake (very moist), and apple pie concoction were excellent as well. Appetisers were good, just not what we were expecting-warm brie on a salad, Oysters Rockefeller had a different taste than expected. Music was instrumental jazz.
We enjoy going out to the Ice House for the live music and the fantastic food.
My wife and I went to see a friend's band play (MLO/A) at the Ice House Café. The band was great and so was the food. I enjoyed the craft beer selections. Our server was very nice and took care of us well despite being very busy.
The food was good, until I almost choked on a whole peppercorn in my food.
The monkfish special was out of this world. Both, my gust and I enjoyed it immensely.
This restaurant has been around for awhile, but we hadn't been in several years. The last two times we've eaten here the food has been very good. The French Onion Soup is delicious (we're pretty picky since I make it sometimes myself) and the meat dishes were also outstanding: beef skewers appetizer and the tenderloin main dish. The bar is spotty (no frozen drinks and no mint), but I had a tasty appletini.
I've lived in the town my whole life but have never been to the Ice House Cafe. I've been missing out this whole time! It's a great local restaurant perfect for a date night. Live music on the weekend is a nice touch to liven up an already excellent dining experience
Other than the animal heads on the walls, which are not at all my thing, it was a nice restaurant and I liked the rest of the decor. We had lunch at a quiet time, well after the usual lunch hour; I don't know if it's typically as quiet as it was that day. Service was excellent; the lunch itself was tasty and nicely presented but the desserts were overly sweet - and I have a huge sweet tooth. Parking is mostly in back or on the side and there's a step or two in front, so it's not as handicapped-accessible as it could be. It's an older building. Just good to know before you go. I would go back.
Wonderful local spot. Live music Friday and Saturday. Check out the menu. Always good with a couple of specials every night
Nice place. Good food.
Service was good. Food was average. Very salty and fish was lukewarm when it was served. I’ll try it again next time in town as maybe chef had an off day.
A perfect place for Christmas Eve. It had been many years since we had been there (no particular reason) and are so glad we thought of this place. Inviting, cozy and a good meal. Service was great, we will not let so much time lapse before we return again.
My wife and I went here for dinner and really enjoyed our time there. Great environment, great food. We will go back.
Haven’t been in a few years & was pleasantly surprised at great service, good food, loved the music! A bit pricey!
Sometimes change is good. This place has been around a long time, however, they have never ever updated their interior. My shoes stuck to the rug as I walked to the bathroom. The bench seating they have against the wall is so nasty where the vinyl has worn off the cushion leaving gross looking cracked cushions. The place just feels dirty. Their food is still really good, no complaints there. But if you are at all germy or just like a clean fresh looking place, this is not for you. I hope they spend some money for a face lift, and this place would be back on my Go-to list. As for now, I’ll wait another 20 years to go back.
Great location that is very cozy! The live music was a good touch.
The ambience is comfortable neighborhood style with old-time pictures of the town on the wall. Food was very good, service was great. Jazz was the main attraction and it was good enough. I'm going back.
Food was ok but overseasoned. Spiced/blackened type seafood is good but chef using way to much - happened past three visits so realize it's heavy handed. Our opinion, they should tone it down so you taste the actual food.
Raw oysters were delicious and served correctly. Ambience nice, reasonably quiet
It was fine - busy location in downtown Herndon - Historical, too. Oysters and Clams were great, but crabcake was so so. Waiter was pretty slow to awful, but the restaurant was full. As good as other like places, maybe? Better, no!
Unbelievable swordfish special. Best grilled swordfish I've ever had!!!
Great Oysters Rockefeller and excellent service with only one waiter in main dining area
Business brought us to Herndon this Monday- and hence to lunch at Ice House on a quiet street with not much else. Surprisingly the restaurant was rich dark wood and white tablecloth elegant inside. We had the asparagus soup- fresh made and quite tasty. The filet mignon sandwich was good with hand cut fries- the skewered shrimp came with a rich sauce and cajun rice pilaf which was a trifle salty-but good as well. This is a conversation place-seated by the window as we were- and the service is down home southern friendly. Good choice for the occasion.
Another lovely dining experience at The Ice House. The food was prepared and presented beautifully. The service outshines any downtown DC hot spot. .. excellent attention to detail!
Enjoyed dinner and Jazz band at the Ice House. Service was very good with one exception. The waiter failed to tell me the seafood special was blackened. I never do blackened so I was surprised. The food was good but blackened is not my thing - I don't like it so hot. My spouse also thought his jambalaya was too spicy. We still enjoyed them. Also enjoyed the oysters oscar appetizer. And an excellent bread pudding. We would go back. A pleasant surprise was the jazz band. Very nice. I believe they were called the A team. The wine list was good - starting with my favorite - Cakebread!
Our server was wonderful. Perfect for a quiet business lunch spot - food was great & the service was excellent. The seating could use some updating but all in all, wonderful dining experience.
Excellent food and service, and great jazz music and good ambience.
