Food was ok but overseasoned. Spiced/blackened type seafood is good but chef using way to much - happened past three visits so realize it's heavy handed. Our opinion, they should tone it down so you taste the actual food.

It was fine - busy location in downtown Herndon - Historical, too. Oysters and Clams were great, but crabcake was so so. Waiter was pretty slow to awful, but the restaurant was full. As good as other like places, maybe? Better, no!

Business brought us to Herndon this Monday- and hence to lunch at Ice House on a quiet street with not much else. Surprisingly the restaurant was rich dark wood and white tablecloth elegant inside. We had the asparagus soup- fresh made and quite tasty. The filet mignon sandwich was good with hand cut fries- the skewered shrimp came with a rich sauce and cajun rice pilaf which was a trifle salty-but good as well. This is a conversation place-seated by the window as we were- and the service is down home southern friendly. Good choice for the occasion.

Another lovely dining experience at The Ice House. The food was prepared and presented beautifully. The service outshines any downtown DC hot spot. .. excellent attention to detail!

Enjoyed dinner and Jazz band at the Ice House. Service was very good with one exception. The waiter failed to tell me the seafood special was blackened. I never do blackened so I was surprised. The food was good but blackened is not my thing - I don't like it so hot. My spouse also thought his jambalaya was too spicy. We still enjoyed them. Also enjoyed the oysters oscar appetizer. And an excellent bread pudding. We would go back. A pleasant surprise was the jazz band. Very nice. I believe they were called the A team. The wine list was good - starting with my favorite - Cakebread!

A tiny gem in Herndon. We absolutely recommend the food! Delicious and creative. I mean, ostrich and cottage cheese? Delightful! Oysters, both fresh and via Rockefeller, were wonderful. VERY TIGHT spacing between the tables, but we didnt notice the other conversations so much. Overall, nice dining experience.

My husband and I went to the Ice House Cafe on a Saturday night for dinner and music. I found the food just fair, nothing special. But what I enjoy about the Ice House is its ambiance. It is a small, cozy neighborhood restaurant that is the same as it was 25 years ago when we first went to it which is hard to found in Northern VA. Along with the evening jazz music, it really is a nice different place for dinner out.

Incredible food - especially the Oysters Rockefeller! Great wine selection, too. Conversation with friends easy - until music started at 7:30. Conversation was difficult after that. However, we planned for that by coming to 6:30 reservations and then having coffee/drinks/dessert during music.

I had a very good seared tuna. I liked the option of cous cous as a side dish instead of fries; that was a lovely change of pace and the cous cous was the big, round Israeli style that is hard to find. Yum!

Great service - waiter brought us complimentary glasses of prosecco for our anniversary. Food was really good. We were there on the early side so we missed the jazz band. We eat fish and seafood but a few vegetarian options would help round out the menu.

Very enjoyable birthday dinner with my two daughters at a restaurant that we had not been to in years... not when it was Margaret's in the 70's, however a long time. The Pork Chop was a bit overdone but tasty and the fish dishes very good. The wait staff was excellent. The little birthday cakes at the end were a nice touch.

Four of us were looking for a casual midweek dinner. We picked Ice House, a restaurant we had long known about but had never tried. Parking was easy and the food and service were quite good. This is a place we will return to.

We went to hear the Friday night music so it was rather loud. We had salmon and dinner was good, however, there were not very many choices for my husband. He's a vegetarian so we probably won't return soon.

I have been here several times and it was always good, but it seemed the menu has changed and is much more limited than it used to be as well as totally boring. I was hoping there would be specials and I did have the monkfish special which was excellent. My companion went with the salmon out of frustration with the menu. I don't know if we will go again any time soon.

The Ice House Cafe is a charming restaurant in downtown Herndon. The staff was wonderful. Very attentive and knowledgeable. We had fresh oysters as an appetizer. Followed by steaks and salmon. The portions were just right. We tried the rice pudding on the recommendation of the waitress. It was delicious. We found out that they have live jazz music after 7:00 on Fridays!

Always a treat to go to the Ice house. Mother's Day brunch was terrific. Live Jazz nights. It's easy to get real tired of the overly-designed modern chain restaurants, but the Ice House is nothing like that. Real food, real people, really great spot in Herndon.

My cousin, wife, and I went to the Ice House Cafe on Tuesday, May 9 , 2017 and loved it. We were surprised at how empty the restaurant was, but I guess Mondays and Tuesdays are off nights for restaurants. It was therefore very quiet; I don't know how quiet it would be when the restaurant is busy.

I had the jambalaya, which was excellent. Lots of seafood and lots of rice. So much so that I couldn't finish it and had it packed to take home. It had just the right amount of kick for my taste.

My wife had the chicken ballotine. It was so good, she wouldn't share it with me. (It smelled great!) It, too, was a large portion which she had packed to take home.

My cousin had the spinach seafood salad, which she raved about.

Our server, Davis, was perfect: there when we needed him, not there when we didn't, and not hovering, even though there weren't many people in the restaurant.

If you're ever in or near Herndon, I recommend stopping by The Ice House Cafe for a meal. I doubt that you'll be disappointed.
