The food was great and the service was excellent. The Bananas Foster was wonderful!
Potatoes were super oily and overcooked, and their menu options are super limited. The only thing I really liked was the banana foster. Everything else tasted overcooked.
Ambiance fair rating was the seating for 2 is not very accessible f- two close together - especially for buffet lunch, when wanting to get up for multiple plates.
The service is friendly and fast! A very nice atmosphere!

This has become a glorified campus cafeteria: the menu is uninspired, and lunch buffet is crowded with quick to-go-box orders. Seats are close to each other, and it is noisy. I go there from time to time for business lunch, but it's become more and more of a zoo. It is too bad that there is no place for business lunches on campus anywhere except for the faculty club, which is also crowded and with an uninspired menu.
We've eaten here on a regular basis since Ibby's first opened a few years ago and loved it. The next to last time we ate there the food was disappointing.
This time at Ibby's, the food was terrible. The squash pasta was inedible. The chef left the peel on the squash, and it was as tough as wood - just happy I didn't break a tooth. I sent it back and ordered the pork chop. The chop was served very under-cooked and consisted primarily of fat and gristle. The accompanying cabbage was raw yet brunt on one side.
Sadly, we will not go to Ibby's again.
Menu change: from Spring 2017 to Fall 2017, there is a lot less selection with the price jacked up. They took away some of my favorites like the bistro fries and seafood entree options. Their menu sections shrunk by more than half.

Service: not professional at all-- It was hard to hear the waitress say the specials over the music. Also, I was still eating when a waiter started collecting all my friends plates, leaving me to eat and have a plate all by myself. What was the rush? There were 3 other emply 4-person tables. He made me feel like it'd be rude for me to continue eating, holding up the dinner.
Again, not professional and not worth it for the price.
Overall: Just because Ibby's is on WashU grounds does not mean you should become a cheap bougie restaurant. Where did the quality and selection go? Where did the professionalism go? I'm so sad to see the downgrade of Ibby's.
The food is fine and a pretty expensive. The bread was $8 and honestly was worse than bread that is complementary at most restaurants. The water tasty funky. The service is good, however. And for WashU students, it's a good little restaurant to change things up every once in a while.
Very good sangria, disappointed over the loss of some menu items (filet mignon, fries, lamb) - but still great food.
Listen!!!!!! Bring back BISTRO FRIES. Just in general the old menu was better. TUNA POKE! 27 dollars for that beef is a crime! #team old menu
I feel like the food is smaller in portion than before and the quality isn't as good
I wish there were more food options for vegetarians. Also, the prices are really spiked up, as if workers forget that we are college students with student debt.
The menu options were limited and the vegetarian options were also limited--the ubiquitous pasta and a salad. It would be good to see some imagination--like the quinoa salad Ibby's used to have. Or veggie sandwiches.
Best restaurant on campus since it is the only restaurant; rest are cafeteria. It doesn't have the best ambient lighting or food but if you are on campus you might as well eat here. Don't come here just for food though.
Interesting how you provided no room for righteous outrage in your recommendation section. I cannot remember a worse luncheon experience (and it is luncheon experience, not dining). The waitress, whose name escapes me, was a delight and did not make a fuss when we moved away from the gate and its million decibel screeching and the garbage cans and the loquacious garbage professionals. If this is casual elegant I need to go back to the Junior Cotillion, because it was slob city. The food actually was barely OK on my side of the unsteady table -- my luncheon partner loved her breakfast wrap. My buffalo thing was oozing grease, way too pepper-hot (no request was given for hot, very hot or excruciating. I got the latter.) The food itself was cold, even the fries, which were tasty in spite of their Arctic temperature.
You need to close the gate or lubricate it. You need to move the garbage cans away from the tables. You need to tell the garbage guys to shut up and go elsewhere for their conversations. You need not to be so greedy about the number of tables you put out. If you are truly interested in casual elegant you will make that a reality by reducing the number of tables by 10 percent.
Needless to say I will never come back. Mrs. Danforth, I am certain, is whirling in her grave.
Sitting in the DUC would be better, less noisy and the food would be cheaper and less insulting, and the whole lunch would be more pleasant and more fun.
You should close the restaurant for the summer and do some serious self-evaluation, and some self-criticism about greed, noise, quality and ambience. You are deficient in all areas except greed, and you get five stars for that.

The waitstaff is what makes this place the gem it is. The menu changes with the seasons and Ibby's is not afraid to experiment with new flavors. I am impressed every time. Good food, good atmosphere, and great people. :)
I found that the chicken I ordered which I believe was described as with "mashed potatoes" had none. When I mentioned it to the waitress, no discount was offered.
It was good. Salmon wrap very nice, though a touch salty.
