Iaria's Italian Restaurant
My wife and I went for our anniversary on a Friday night and sat in the bar area (on the advice of a Yelp reviewer). It was busy, but the good kind of busy (we could still hold a conversation and not be overwhelmed). This was our first visit, our server had great recommendations, and the food was amazing! We ordered the veal piccata, linguini with clam sauce, and the minestrone soup. I upgraded my pasta to the cheese tortellini which comes with a blend of the red sauce and the Alfredo (I’ve already said the food was amazing but I have to say it again). We don’t live in Indy but we’ll definitely be back!
They were out of two items that we ordered and then later told they didn’t have. Two of the guests did not like the dishes that they had. One particular was the grouper piccata. It was mush inside a overcooked breading.
The BEST authentic Italian food in the Midwest. HUGE portions! And the service made me feel like I was at my mamas house. Love it!
One of my favorite places in Indy. However, a little disappointed that we had a 7 pm reservation but did not get seated until 7:45 pm.
Must have been an off day for this restaurant given the other good reviews I saw.
I mentioned on my reservation that we are vegetarians and are celebrating my wife's birthday. The hostess seating us said they got the request and will be able to accommodate it. We also reiterated that to the person who took our order.
As you can guess where this is going, our pasta showed up with meatballs. Perhaps the worse part was when the plates went back, but got replaced rather quickly with another plate that didn't have meat on them. Since they can't magically cook pasta in 2 minutes, I can only assume they just scooped off the meatballs and sent it back.
Since we were in a hurry and it was my wife's birthday dinner, I chose not to create an issue. Clearly I wouldn't go here if I am celebrating a big event. Fair to say, they completely missed my expectations.
This is a lesser issue, but the hostess unnecessarily mentioned that we would be getting a birthday special dessert. I don't care that we didn't get it, but would have been better if they didn't tell us that upfront. Again, just feedback in case you guys want to act on it.
Wonderful service at a hectic time.
A different party had shown up with many more people than their reservation, and this party was dominating the service staff. However, our experience was still at the high quality we expect from Iaria's. All employees seemed to be hustling to accommodate the large party as well as the other diners. Our server explained the situation, and even though she apologized for the busyness, she provided exemplary service even bringing out free garlic bread to reward our patience. It was we who should have been rewarding her.
Great food. Can't wait to return.
I have been dining at Iaria's for years.
Rose was our server this time and she
was great. I am very detail oriented, so,
I noticed that Rose was too. When she
asked me what type of dressing I would
like on my salad, I answered "French" and Rose
said is that with an "F". She did this to make sure
I did not say "Ranch". She did a great jog. We
had the grouper, which I not previously ordered
and it was amazing.
Wonderful experience as always! Everyone enjoyed their meals
Wonderful......all you could imagine .
Great staff and food
Quality much less than what was recommended!
Iaria's was a great experience. Went there to celebrate my brother's birthday. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Food was absolutely delicious...Perfect temperature to eat, tasty, and authentic. I would definitely recommend and will visit again!
Food was mediocre for Italian. Was expecting better from the pics and reviews of the food. It was as though the same marinara sauce was used for everything and the sauce was meh. Service was good, I will say that. They were also very accommodating. Not sure if I’ll be back.
Baby crying at another table while we were trying to have conversation at our table. Witness forgot my soup. 1/2 people
At able ordered garlic bread and it came stacked in a basket. Cheese stuck together. The others at our table received no bread with meal. Food was warm not hot. Asked for glass for beer waitress didn’t bring until half done with beer. Not our best experience at your restaurant. Not sure I would recommend to others. Disappointed
Iaria’s was the perfect spot to introduce friends to Indy. The kids and mamas enjoyed our meal as we dined outside.
Me and my kids can't wait to go back!
A group of 7 co-workers met for lunch. The food and service were incredible!
Always a fabulous dinner at Iaria’s. Has been a tradition with our family for many years. I’ve been dining at Iaria’s for 41 years. And now along with my children and grandchildren.
Our waitress was wonderful, attentive without hovering and the food was just as good as we remembered from our last trip a few years ago. We will be back again!
One of the best things about Iaria's is the consistency. The wait staff is always friendly, the service is always good, the food is always excellent and the price is always more than fair. If you like Veal, then this is the place to go for a generous portion with pasta that's always al dente. The salads are plentiful and flavorful and I could not help but grab a piece of Atkin's forbidden bread generously slathered in oil.
We recently returned to Indianapolis after a 15 year absence. Even though we had previously lived here for 15 years we had never tried Iaria's. We're sorry for that now. Food was very good and very similar to the southern Italian cuisine that we grew up with in St. Louis. The prices were very reasonable especially for the quantity of food that was served. I'd especially recommend the fried ravioli appetizer! We will have Iaria's on our go to list now!
We always enjoy dining at Iaria’s.
Good food, friendly service staff. Food took a bit of time to arrive.
We have always enjoyed the food. Maybe a new chef tonight? Everything seemed over cooked. Couldn't even taste the calamari because of the over cooking
Iaria's, family owned and operated since 1933 is without question, the very best Italian restaurant in Central Indiana. The food is excellent and the service outstanding. One word of warning...make reservations in advance. This place is popular, which will come as no surprise to anyone who has dined there. I can't wait to go back.
Food can’t be beat and they made our graduation celebration extra special with the excellent service provided. Extra accommodating to our schedule. Once and still a fav.
Thank you for choosing us to celebrate a such a special day!!
Iaria’s never fails to please! Service from our waitstaff was professional and personal, despite the place being packed the night before the Indy 500 race. Noise was a bit higher than one would expect, but again I chalk that up to there being a full house of excited race fans.
The food was excellent and delicious from starters through entrees and into dessert. Garlic bread and red sauce was amazing, home made Roquefort dressing for salad was killer, veal and pasta were spot on, and spumoni ice cream and made-on-site tiramisu (as are cannolis) with coffee were perfect closer to a fun night out with the family.
Owner/manager making rounds to ensure customers are pleased with both food AND service was also much appreciated and exemplified the entire staff’s focus on the customer. As annual visitors to Indianapolis, we will definitely be back next year for race weekend dinner!
The food is excellent have not had a bad dish
Love the family tradition at the restaurant. For generations! Real Italian food
MOVED FROM INDY IN 1996, SO GLAD TO RETURN TO IARIA'S FOR DINNER ON THE EVE OF THE INDY 500 WITH SEVERAL FRIENDS. NOT MUCH HAS CHANGED, WHICH IS A GOOD THING. THE FOOD HAS THE SAME FLAVOR AS 20+ YEARS AGO.
NOT MUCH FOR AMBIANCE, BUT THE TRADITIONAL LOOK IS APPRECIATED.
From the waitstaff to the decor to the food, never disappoints The linguini with clams was fire! The seafood pasta, we requested a switch to a red sauce and were accommodated. The dish was fantastic. The sauce is always on point!
Not as great as it used to be. The entire dinner we were interrupted by our server who was trying to get us out the door as quickly as possible. While I understand the table is not ours all evening, we should be able to have an hour long dinner without being pushed out the door. Staff needs to chill out and let people enjoy their meal. My spaghetti was cut, like for a child, but I did not ask for that. Impossible to eat - I asked for a spoon to use. Received the wrong wine and was told all the red wine is red table wine by the glass - well why do you have multiple types listed on the menu if its all one type of red table wine?
Busy night, flawless nevertheless. Put your phone down and go there right now.
True Italian food! Far superior to the boring corporate chain restaurant recipes that you get locally and call themselves Italian. Iaria’s meals are prepared with fresh ingredients and seasoned perfectly. Great meals & service - reminiscent of the family meals we have had in the Italian communities of New England. We go to Iaria’s frequently and have never been disappointed. Recommend that you try any of their specialty dishes.
Super nice people and very cordial. Made me feel very much at home.
Love it! Our group of Indy racing fans eat here every May. Great food & service!
Been going to Iaria’s for over 50 years. Their pizza and spaghetti is the best!’
Food was too salty and chicken part was like a rock.- way over cooked very disappointed
We were a group of four on Friday night with a reservation. The food was fantastic! We started with the goat cheese appetizer. The spicy, sweet sauce on the warm goat cheese did not overpower the flavor of the cheese. Enjoyed a salad with our meal. Go for the homemade blue cheese dressing; there is more blue cheese than dressing in it. Fettuccine Alfredo was amazing! Very smooth consistency and very thick. The grouper fish with lemon sauce was baked to perfection. Very flaky and tasty. Not a fan of capers, but they can be scraped off or eaten sparingly. Also can be ordered without. Was not impressed with the Eggplant Parmesan. It tasted overcooked and mushy.
Atmosphere is casual, and it can get noisy in the dining area; it's an open room with tables and no sound muffling. If you're hard of hearing, opt for eating on the patio if it is open. There is not much of a view but it will be quieter. Overall, worth the money. We will go back for more.
We were there for Mother’s Day. Place was packed, but service and food were great, as always. We had 2 small kids with us, and they were thoughtful enough to get the kids’ food out ASAP, without us even asking. We will always go back there several times a year.
Great old school Italian restaurant. Great service and food. I would highly recommend. Beware of the potholes on street going into parking and also the parking lot.
Best red sauce in town! I do miss the manicotti-it’s been off the menu for years and I still crave it!
