Fantastic dining experience. Super recommend it.
I have been to this restaurant over the past few years. A year ago they cut the restaurant in half making one side a pizza and snacks and the other fine dining. This made the fine dining side much noisier. The food was still quite good although the menu is smaller and the prices are a bit higher. We had a nice evening but not sure about returning.
It had been ages since we'd last dined at I Truli. Why had we let so many years go by without returning to this gem? No excuses, but we were delighted to return this week for a memorable dinner with an old friend visiting from Europe. From the octopus to the gorgeous beet salad and the fish and mean dishes, it was a splendid reunion. We enjoyed bottles of white and red wine from the notable list of Italian vintages you don't often see. We'll be back and won't so long next time!
Most Italian restaurants serve neopolitan or northern Italian cuisine. I chose I Trulli because of the Pugliese cuisine. My family is from the Puglia region so we had to try it. We were not disappointedFrom the appetizers to the dessert everything was excellent! The owner came over to our table to greet us prior to placing our orders. Very personable and friendly. The wait staff was also friendly and knowledgeable about each entree. While waiting for our appetizers the owner sent over an order of panzarotti. Basically fried dough filled with mozzarella and fresh tomato. They were so simple yet so amazing! As an appetizer we ordered a pasta entree special. Three types of homemade pasta, orichetti, cavatelli, and a Sardenian pasta each a with different sauce. All three were delicious! The orichetti brought me right back home to my mom’s homemade orichetti when I was a kid. I had the zuppa di pesce my wife and the other couple all chose the sea bass special. Everything was excellent! My friend and I will be back for lunch so we can watch Mama Dora make the home made pastas. Will also be bringing my sister and cousin in for dinner to enjoy and reminisce the food and flavors of our childhood.
Food is consistently tasty and creative interpretation of southern italian. Service attentive but not your new beat friends. "Family style" menus well worth the commitment with rational portions.
Fabulous! Best restaurant in NYC for cuisine from Puglia. Great food and impeccable service!
Had Easter dinner here but been to I Trully many times before but not recently. It is very good for authentic Italian from Apulia region. Their special Easter dinner however while was good, I was disappointed that I trully like many other places use holiday dinners to soak their customers with chincy portions or misrepresented menu items. Roast lamb was actually chunks of lamb baked in a egg and cheese preparation. It was good - except they actually used canned peas - those pale green metal tasting ones, hugely dissappointing in a place like this, and the meat hunks often weee 90% bone with nearly no meat. It was cheap. Pasta was good as was the nice crudités with beautiful evoo. But the mozzarella the waiter touted as specially imported was like a vacu wrapped common Polio type from the grocery store - dense and tasteless except for the salt, not milky and rich as you expect high quality “mutz” to be. The “assortment of Apulia specialities” for dessert was the real sour cherry on the cake. A small plate of very plain Italian cookies. We thought the server forgot to bring the dessert and was giving us a complimentary sample of cookies but he let us know THIS was the dessert. Cheap. And disappointing. Been to I Trulli many times Prior and it was always good but their taking advantage of Easter to rip people off turned us off.
3 stars at most. The appetizers were pretty good. We had the Fritto Misto and Panelle. My husband’s pastas dish was not cooked. The filling was cold. It had to be sent back. I ordered the market fish which was barely edible. It was dry and over cooked. I can’t understand how a dish so unappetizing looking can be sent out of the kitchen. I didn’t send it back because we already sent my husbands back. The cauliflower was dried out and burnt. Very disappointed in this restaurant. Will not be returning.
The remarkable food here comes from Apullia, the heel of the boot and one of the many lovely parts of Italy. I Trulli in its way is a trip back there with the cordial people and their charming way of life.
It was a birthday lunch for my friend. Her sea bass was terrific. My orratta was ok not great. The prices are a little high but all in all a great place.
We returned to have yet another outstanding meal and experience. Of special note was the great suggestions and color provided on wines as well as the wood burning fireplace.
Very good, excellent food. Our waiter was very attentive without being intrusive. Noise level is quite acceptable, and allows for good conversation even with a moderate group.
My most recent visit to I Trulli for my husband’s birthday was disappointing. The service was well meaning but mixed up. The vongole pasta and the Frascati wine we ordered were not good.
Great! Good food, good friends.
Great ambiance, great staff, the food selection was great. Also, if you are going to El Repertorio Espanol, its only a block away! Also, they have a fire place and an outside space.
It was Valentine’s Day, and we usually love this place, but the service was very poor, and they were many empty tables! They had advertised 4 courses, but there were only 3. It was so disappointing.
Both the food and service were great. I'm sure, too, that the outdoor dining area would be great during the warmer months of the year. One thing that should be fixed, however, would be the chairs! They seemed wobbly to me! Otherwise, I highly recommend this restaurant!
One of the few NYC restaurants where "close your eyes and you could be dining in Italy." We have loved it for years, and are sorry to see some Pugliese items on the menu gone, but what's there satisfies my Italian soul.
Great wine selection and of course incredible Italian food. Price is above average as normal high-end Italian restaurants are. Really delicious and highly recommended. Great date spot!
I went for Winter Restaurant Week and the food was AMAZING, but the wait staff messed up my table’s order three times. The table next to us also had some problems getting their order wrong too. No one else in our section seemed to have that problem though. I would probably go back, but still disappointing.
Nice place with a good mood. Food was. very good. We will go back.
Only disappointment was the change from regular martini and Manhattan glasses to coups.
I just don't get it.
Requested the wood burning fireplace table and was seated right next to it. Not many left in the city. Food was delish.
I last visited I Trulli in August 2017 and enjoyed the ambiance, the food and the service. I had no idea that I'd find a reconfigured dining room that was nearly unrecognizable and left me feeling a bit confused and disoriented. As for the food, my pickled eggplant with mozzarella was disappointing. The mozzarella was dry and nearly flavorless; my guest ordered calamari and enjoyed it. My pasta entree (cavatelli, i believe) with kale seemed ordinary and heavy; my guest tasted it and concurred. His seafood entree was not memorable and also not a dish he would recommend. I'm truly sorry to be so negative, but I wanted my guest to enjoy the kind of experience I had last summer, and we were both disappointed. I would still give high mark for service.
Wonderful meal.
A wonderful resturant week pick. Our choices were diverse and delicious. The wine list varied and reasonable. The service was outstanding.
In years past, had many a successful client lunch in their beautiful garden. This visit, went with my husband for Restaurant week special. Food was delicious! Service is completely professional and friendly. Ambiance is lovely. Planning to become a regular patron here!
this is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC - my Family is from the region where I Trulli's cuisine centered, Puglia, is just extraordinary and so authentic.....
Wow. What a great find. So many wonderful Pastas to choose from took my breath away.
All handmade. My wife and I shared two pastas. Yum, yum. I had the whole grilled fish which was served with spinach. I wish I could have also ordered all of the other fish entrees to taste,
but my wife would have objected. Maybe next time. We will be back!!!!!
Amazing experience! Food was delicious!
Food was excellent especially the calzone appetizer and black bass and wagyu entrees. Our service was also excellent and though very crowded the venue was conducive to conversation. Plan to return again soon for another delicious meal in a very elegant restaurant.
Loved the homemade pasta! The meatballs were really good as well.
Seated promptly, order placed and delivered rather quickly. Wait staff attentive but not hovering. My Steak cooked to perfection. All other diners were happy with their selections. Would definitely try again.
Very enjoyable Restaurant Week meal although we added a course for $10 each. Nice to have the fireplace. Food authentic and delicious. Pasta, cheeses, veggies, and fish all outstanding. Servers courteous, efficient, and friendly without being chummy. Nice winelist, all Italian. Would definitely go back especially when the garden is in bloom.
Wonderful Italian restaurant. Delicious food, romantic ambience, attentive service, plentiful Italian wine list. Overall, great dining experience.
i Trulli is a go-to favorite. Authentic and fresh Italian cuisine. Handmade pastas, meatballs and family recipes. The wine-by-the-glass menu is very good offering real variation and choices for every taste. On this visit I had a fish dish in light tomato sauce. Deep in flavor yet sensitive to each fish's cooking time. Starter was a beet salad with light dressing and of course shaved parmesan. It is surrounded by other fine restaurants and night life. A great neighborhood.
deserts are not good enough :(
Reliable as always
Outstanding food, and very good service. They sought to please the customer.
The home-made pasta is divine, and the rest of the food is very good. A lovely spot for a quiet dinner.
