Went with a friend who uses a Walker. The staff was kind and helpful to her. Food was great in their back garden. A special New Year’s Eve.
Delicious as always. Great wines by the glass. Always love the meat balls and the wild boar was a tasty as any mixed meat grill ever. Friendly and attentive service.
This place has great ambience. We sat in the covered garden on a rainy night and were most comfortable. Excellent wait staff. The food was overall good, some dishes more tasty than others. Good cocktails--long list of Negronis. I'll be back.
Wonderful fresh homemade pastas and delicious appetizers! We came here to eat outside not on an NYC street and were not disappointed!!
Im Italian and have been trying a few places in the city. In my opinion, this one really doesn’t live up to the hype. The bread and focaccia they provide was outstanding but the rest of the food was very mediocre and not comparable to other equally expensive places in the city.
Always delicious. Authentic amazing Italian. The owner is always around and comes to talk to the table- so personable! Highly recommend!
My all-time favorite meatballs. So good that I ordered some as a gift for a relative recovering from minor surgery. The ravioli were also delicious. Next time I'm going to try the pasta bolognese.
When I first moved to the neighborhood, I found and liked this place, and then somehow I forgot about it for a long time. Remembered it this summer and it's now a neighborhood favorite.
Amazing authentic and great service! Will definitely be back!
First place where I took my girlfriend a year ago!
Excellent food, ambiance, and service. It's a real treat to dine on this fine food that reminds me of my nonna. Fresh, high-quality ingredients, perfectly prepared. The homemade pasta is delicious. The service is outstanding. It is expensive, though. Occasionally, noisy trucks driving by, but that's unavoidable under the circumstances dining on the sidewalk.
Dining in their garden room would be a better option if you can. Highly recommended restaurant.
Consistently fine food with dedicated service. A family-run restaurant that has continuously adapted to dining needs. During COVID19, they have really been creative in adapting to and complying with changing rules while maintaining their meal quality standard.
Delicious Italian food -- appetizer meatballs were actually the best meatballs I've ever eaten. I tried both the lobster ravioli special and the regular ravioli in pistachio sauce. Both were scrumptious. So was the hot apple crumble I had for dessert.
Looking forward to the days that I can eat inside again, but the outdoor seating in front was comfortable!
il trulli has become a little commercialized, food is basic.
Menu a little limited. But food was authentic and delicious.
Great meal and the staff was so accommodating to me setting up a business dinner for 6 of us back in the garden area.
Delicious fresh S. Italian cuisine (must try the handmade pastas). Great negroni & wines! Charming, rustic, old-school vibe/atmosphere. Spotty service, though lends a bit to the old-school vibe. Tables are placed close together, but had plexiglass separators & all staff adhered to face masks. The street dining atmosphere actually seemed nicer with more greens/flowers than the back “garden”.
The 'garden' is not really a garden in the outdoor sense. If you are nervous about dining indoors the garden is not truly open air. Better to sit out on the pavement.
The food is always amazing and the heated garden is beautiful!
Overpriced for the value
We had a lovely celebratory dinner in their patio. The service was excellent as well as the food. Everything was delicious.
The food did not disappoint. Service was excellent and quick. A fruit fly dropped into my wine, was replaced for free. Utensils and dinnerware was clean.
The perfect restaurant for a date with low noise levels, privacy, romantic lighting with the picturesque garden seating in the back.
I’ve never written a review before but I was prompted to today. The manager/owner first off decided to rudely inquired why I was waiting outside the restaurant on a public sidewalk. Graciously I explained that I was waiting on a friend and had a reservation - he then demanded my name to verify my claim.
Fast forward to finally checking in to be seated and I have a foldable electric scooter with me. The extremely rude manager/owner aggressively told me that by law they’re not permitted to allow me to have my scooter in the back patio dining area.
Not only did I respect his claim but I inquired where I could safely store my item. He pointed to a storage nook close to the host stand and I placed it there. Subsequently, I asked nicely whether my item would be secure and he barked at me that by law I had no option. Also he made sure to let me know he couldn’t guarantee my item wouldn’t be stolen.
I’m empathetic that during a pandemic there’s frustration due to financial issues etc but being rude and aggressive to diners, will backfire exponentially during this time.
Homemade pasta was excellent; service and atmosphere were good. Will return
This restaurant used to be a warm and inviting neighborhood place. I assume there are new owners!
What a fabulous experience. In the midst of the pandemic eating at this restaurant gave me such an uplift I'm still smiling days later.
The back courtyard is beautiful, comfortable and safe. The food, wine, and drinks are fabulous. The service is excellent.
If I lived in NY I'd be there every night!
Overall, a very good experience. The set up is really nice. Both the patio and the street are full of plants. Glasses separate tables. Food is delicious. I recommend the ravioli pesto pistacho. We had to wait a lot to get the check. Perhaps too much. This is why I am giving 4 stars.
Focaccia was dry and hard. Pasta dishes were OK but not great.
Felt safe with plexiglass dividers. Ate in outdoor garden and for a while, forgot about COVID
Great dinner and service. Beautiful garden seating in the back. Service was excellent and the food was tasty.
Great to be sitting outside at one of our favorites. Food and service tasty and attentive as always. Looking forward to going back soon.
Setting was lovely in the back garden area. Greet staff fine. Food so-so. This was my first time eating in a NYC restaurant since Covid started and I was so looking forward to it. That said, the service was so bad that it ruined everything else for the evening.
Clearly the wait staff was cobbled together as no one seemed to know what they were doing. Waited forever for wine service. Waited a long time for food to be served and when presented it was cold pasta. Had to ask repeatedly for everything. No sauce for appetizer, no pepper offered, no cheese proferred. When the bill came ($150 for two people with three wines, no dessert, no coffee) the bus person was very quick to ask where the tip was until I pointed out we paid cash for the tip.
Not only was staff inefficient but bordered on rude. I realize how hard it is to run a restaurant these days but at these prices at least be polite. I live in the neighborhood and have been to I Trulli numerous times before but it'll be a long time, if ever, before I go back.
Excellent service and incredible food. Can not wait to come back!
Overall a very pleasant dinner. Service was exceptional. Food was delicious. One of the servers named Ahmed made the dinner extra memorable. Ahmed was incredibly nice and offered wonderful desserts for my husband’s birthday! We couldn't ask for a better dinner and we can't wait to go back.
Excellent food in a comfortable environment. Great service and wonderful adaptations during this pandemic.
Food was poorly prepared. Avoid the fish dishes. Missing ingredients and undercooked. Waitress missed some items and took multiple people to complete our order.
Amazing experience . Great food ! Servers were amazing ! Owner was superb . He remembered my name and made me feel special . Outstanding service !
The food was delicious, the service was great, the ambiance enchanting - what's not to like?
Great ambiance for outdoor dining, great food and delish cosmo
Excellent in every way.
The rear garden was perfect for dinner during this trying time.
The outdoor garden is beautiful, the staff was accommodating in every way, and the food was delicious.
