About I Trulli
Opened in 1994, Nicola Marzovilla's warm and welcoming restaurant has been a favorite for more than 18 years for those in search of hearty, delicious Italian specialties. Its celebrated menu draws on the regional cuisine of the Marzovillas' homeland, Puglia. Nicola's mother, Dora, prepares hand-rolled fresh pastas daily. The restaurant is famed for its all-Italian wine list (expertly selected by Marzovilla), and the adjoining Enoteca offers lighter food and by-the-glass choices as well as a nightly happy hour from 3-8pm. I Trulli is a popular destination all-year round: diners can sit by the glow of the main room's rustic fireplace in winter, while in the warmer months are treated to the lush splendor of one of Manhattan's finest outdoor garden spaces.

I Trulli offers an array of group dining options for parties of 12 or more. Menus include chef’s antipasti selections, multi-course tasting menus, wine dinners or menus customized for your event. Private and semi-private dining is available in one of our dining areas for parties up to 160.

I frequently eat with friends at I Trulli. Food is excellent and choices are nicely varied. Service is always good as is the atmosphere. Sometimes it can be noisy but last time it wasn't so crowded for lunch so it was a good place to sit and talk. I like it for lunch and dinner especially since I live a few blocks away.
My husband and I had such a lovely dinner at iTrulli last Friday night. We lived almost next door to this restaurant for many years and dined -- and lunched -- there often, but we moved out of the neighborhood and hadn't been back in a while. The restaurant has been changed into two spaces since our last visit, with a more casual eatery next door to the main dining room. The smaller dining room felt cozy and I had a view of the lighted Christmas tree out in the garden. Our server, Samuel, was absolutely wonderful. He gave us helpful descriptions of wines that were new to us and we liked both of our selections very much. Jim had the Osso Buoco and I had the market fish with veggies; both were really great. We will be making a return trip soon!
Had a lovely and delicious meal including wonderful options for two in our party who had dietary restrictions, one gluten free, the other vegan. Ordering for them was easy and their meals were as delicious as ours.

Picked based on Yelp reviews and Il Mulino being rated as overpriced/overpopular (used to be our favorite). It's not the same as Il Molino in SoHo but still a solid Italian restaurant w good food and good service. If you want the feel of Italy go to Little Italy (love Angelo's there especially Lena behind the bar and her BF the maitre D)
Haven't been in a while and now kicking myself for that fact. Food remains amazing. We'd order everything all over again. A warm welcome and escort to our table was followed by the most efficient, friendly, and insightful service from Samuel. i Trulli lets you reserve tables in one of three rooms; we should be able to reserve servers! The starters, the meat, the fish, the cheese: all exceptional!

Un encomio alle orecchiette fatte in casa dalla nonna con il ragù di coniglio.....abbiamo bevuto un primitivo riserva eccezionale!!
We had a lovely dinner here. The fritto misto, beet salad and panelle were all very good. One of the outstanding things was the focaccia in our bread basket. It was crispy on the bottom and luscious on top (just like in Puglia!). Unfortunately, they were out of the burrata which is the most Puglian thing on the menu. Pasta trio was okay but I didn't love one of the pastas on the plate and for $38, I guess I wasn't too pleased. The others loved their meals, fried rabbit and pork shank. The bill for 4 was $320 plus tip, $380. We didn't all drink and we had only 3 appetizers and one dessert (no coffee) so I thought it was a bit high. All in all I would recommend I Trulli.
We have eaten at this restaurant before and it was very good. But this last time their quality left much to be desired. I ordered pasta with broccoli rabe that I returned because it was so bitter, it was inedible. I ordered ravioli which were substandard, especially for their price. Will not be returning sadly...
The service started off badly, and never got better. We had to go find a waiter to order some wine, although the place was almost empty when we arrived. We also needed to get up to find a waiter to a) tell us the specials, b) order dessert, c) get the check. The place looked understaffed, yet at no time did anyone explain, offer an apology, or perhaps offer a drink or dessert on the house. The food was reasonably good but not special. The linguini with clam sauce was so-so. The tiramisu was average. All in all, a bummer.
I Trulli is one of my favorite regional Italian restaurants in NYC. The food is consistently good and they have a strong wine list. We had an excellent dinner and once they turned the music down (we had to ask and they did) it was a pleasant atmosphere. The service was not great this time. I asked for some help selecting the wine, and no one ever showed up. So I went and talked to the maitre d' and he seemed to be the wine expert and helped select a good wine (I don't think the waiter ever mentioned my request to him. Maybe he didn't understand). In the past they had a wine steward, but maybe they've cut back on that expense. About the music: we asked for a quiet table, it was fine at first. But as the room got more crowded, they cranked up the music. Why? No one was listening to it, but it made people have to shout. When we asked them to turn it down, they did so immediately and we (and probably everyone else) appreciated it. I will NEVER understand why restaurant managers turn up music to make restaurants unpleasantly loud. I think THEY like the music, not the customers.
The organic chicken had a lovely crispy skin and was very juicy. The house made pasta was delicious. The molten cake with salted caramel ice cream was perfect and made more special by waiter bringing over with a candle for my birthday. We were not rushed out. I look forward to going there again.
