Absolutely the best food, service and evening yet. Dan outdid himself. He ordered, explained and paired each and every entree. It was a Michelin Star Dinner! See you next week!
I Prive continues to be my favorite sushi spot in the general SFO Airport area. Sushi is great Sake is great.
Great! Best sushi in Burlingame, great experience. Can’t wait to go again!!!
Friendly staff very good service. Everything was prepared to excellence. The menu has a very nice variety. Prices are very fair. Happy hour is highly recommended for a great deal. The owner is present most often and is very approachable kind and attentive. I’ve taken my family there many times and we always enjoy our time there.
We went here for a birthday celebration. We had to ask twice for the hot sauce and we never received the miso soup we ordered and yet we were charged for it. Our server seemed rude, constantly asking if want to order more food. We felt rushed although our dinner was at 6:30pm this past Saturday. Great food selections and we were happy with our food choices. We will definitely be back for the food and hoping service can be improved.
Portions are micro sized.
The server was upset that I told her I was not ready to order as my husband stilll looking at menu. She never came back to ask how we’re doing and she gave our check midway through our meal and did not ask how our meal was or if we needed something else or If we wanted to look at dessert menu. Then she sat down across from us with her back to us taking with her colleagues. I expected more from this restaurant
Food lover, must try this place!!
The food, this place has very unique approach and was very good!! Loved it!
However, Despite their independent menu, effort and uniqueness, the restaurant ambiance is unmatched for the quality of food unfortunately. It’s too open, feeling very exposed and feel for everyday dinning and not for special occasion or business meals despite their wonderful food.
Not impressed by this place. After living near here for 6 years, I thought I would try it out. I have noticed a dwindling of crowds, but we were celebrating. We got a reservation at 8:30 and then within 20 minutes were told the kitchen is closing. Why offer reservations so late when the kitchen is closing? This is bad manners. We were forced to do the chef's selection and were not given an opportunity to look through the menu. Our cocktails were mediocre at best, and we were also not offered if we wanted another one. Strange. They did not seem interested in serving us, pressured us to order what was convenient for them, and were way over priced. We went to La Corneta next door after to get burritos. $250 was out bill. RIP OFF. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Great staff and even better food. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
My wife and I had a fabulous evening at this restaurant. We had edamame as an appetizer. I had the hamachi dinner and my wife had the Katsu Bento. The food was amazing and the service was superb. We most definitely will be coming back to this neighborhood gem.
I had a dinner reservation at 8pm, didn’t get seated until after 8:40. Slow leaving customers inside, understandable and they bought a round of drinks. Overall good time...
We had a wonderful waitress who took the time to walk us through each dish! The food was delivered in a timely manner and was delicious.
A complete waste of time and money... Would've been a great night for us but turned out the other way, fish comes in really small and thin slices, it wasn't that fresh too and kind of dry. Sushi rolls are pretty expensive (thats not the issue) it's just wasn't worth it, they have really great fish & ingredients combination but even the rice wasn't even a real japanese rice.. after taking orders, our girl server (I cant remember which but she has lots of bracelets around) didn't bother to check on us, she just clear plates and put the food, and that's it. Im sorry but Im not coming back. There are a lot of good and worthy japanese restaurants around.
We love I Prive. The sushi is fantastic and beautifully prepared. It is SF quality sushi in Burlingame. The owner is usually working the bar and helping serve food. He is proud of his extensive bar selection and happy to give samples. My husband and I go on a regular basis and love sitting at the bar.
Since your in Burlingame, how about providing ingredients that are special. Such as a healthy soy sauce made with sea salts or wasabi and ginger with no chemically engineered ingredients. It’s all about less white salt and wild caught fish. Offer brown basmati rice too.
My experience here was HORRIBLE! I had a reservation at noon. As I approached the counter, the hostess started rolling her eyes. She seated us. Said a server would be with us. The woman who seated us proceeded to clean the windows with windex. Then she returned to the table and said...I'll take your order. She took our order and came back 2 min later and asked us to repeat our order. She stated she was new...we understood and said no problem. Our miso soup was watered down with carrots and onions. Strangest miso soup I've ever had... and it was COLD. We complained and she brought us new soups which were boiling hot. Our sushi was incredibly small and so were the chicken terriyaki pieces. We also ordered cha sui ramen. That was plentiful, hot and good. There were no other patrons in the restaurant other than a family of 4 sitting inside. I had to wave down a hostess for more water, more tea and the bill. They were NOT ATTENTIVE at all. I would NEVER RETURN nor refer this place to anyone!!!
Felt as if it was a little expensive for what I got but the customer service was great and food didn’t disappoint.
We pulled this place out of a hat, figuratively speaking, because we could not agree on where to eat. Each of the three of us found something we really liked, and two of the rolls were recommendations from the waiter. We enjoyed the ambience of the entire area and this place integrated well. Try it, you'll like it!
Fun place. Good food, mostly Asian fusion. Served by a very interested and attentive wait staff. And w the active involvement and attention from the very committed owner. We were in town for a conference and went twice for dinner in three days
Menu has wide range of choices. Server seemed a little rushed to get us to order but was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Sushi was creatively done and tasty. Could have used slimmer plates as it overlapped our narrow table.
Presentation is beautiful and much better than most of the food. OK service at the bar. Mixed drinks so so - weak . Overall - it’s not our too choice to return.
We were 'sold' into the $79 tasting menu and while the food was good, the value is very poor. This was our third visit but after this experience it may be our last.
Order ala carte, and don't be sold on a poor deal.
Food is awesome. Service was really bad. She forgot our order, a couple times.
Good food. We were charged incorrectly and I didn’t notice until we left, but good quality Japanese.
We had a great evening eating at the bar and being entertained by the bartender and owner.
Really wonderful and interesting food!
The noise level, crowdedness, and rough-around-the-edges interior is surprising and unwelcome given the elevated prices and the higher quality of the food, however.
The food was great but the service was exceptional! I sat at the bar and both the bartender and the server were very knowledgeable, attentive, and interactive.
Special food, but uni is not fresh
Terrible! We didn't even get to eat there! We were 5 min late and they and the refuse us our table. It was Valentine's day and it took us 20 min to find a parking ughhhhh. The guy keep on saying we're fully booked but there was nobody over there🙄
One of the worst restaurants in experiences i have ever had. Slow and disorganized service, rediculously small portions, unitelligible menu, missing courses and then presented with a bill for another table I mistakenly paid and then had to get refunded because I was just wanted to get the hell out of there.
Had a preset menu for valentines and it was hands down horrible and way over priced.
The waiter asked us to trust him and he would pick a pairing specifically for our taste and likings. Quickly we noticed that every table was just getting the exact same food. Also, multiple times food was just sitting by the kitchen for long periods of time. At one point I witnessed a customer bump into and touch a sushi roll that had been sitting there. The manager picked it up, looked at it, then took it out to a table.
When I got my scallops they were at room temperature and slimy because they had been sitting there. When the waiter came by and asked what I thought I stated the scallops had a bad taste and were slimy. I was told that’s how they are suppose to be.
We had a great Valentine’s Day dinner. The food selection was good and everything tasted delicious.
Food was overpriced and some of the dishes were a little bland. In general I felt like the management was more focused on maximizing profit rather than creating a good customer experience - inflexible with special requests, etc. On the flip side, our server was very nice.
I Prive is a high quality Japanese restaurant. Their sushi and sashimi are consistently top notch quality and the price reflects that. While there are no deals here, the quality is worth the price. Also, their tempura batter is light and the special pork ramen is out of this world.
The downside of I Prive is any table near the front door will be cold. The wind whips through the door every time it is opened so plan your seating accordingly.
One irksome detail is water glasses are delivered with straws in it. Have you heard about the plastic island? If management reads this, please do yourselves ($) and the earth a favor by not serving straws automatically with water or other drinks. Customers will ask if they want them.
Food was average ...not outstanding. Waitress was selling specials way too hard with no description. In the end, we didn’t enjoy what we got . Edamame very cold with no sea salt. I’ve eaten at a lot of sushi restaurant. This was Just not that special.
Our experience was great with customer service, food presentation and taste. The prices are a little high, but quality of ingredients and taste are great!
There were some common themes/flavors between dishes, but each was very creative and unlike anything we've had at other Japanese restaurants, perhaps because of the 'fusion' component. That said, I didn't notice any obvious French influences (unless fried fish skin featuring in a dessert is French!!).
Very attentive service and excellent food
Lovely location, I am not a fan of the chairs and tables however. Wobbly table and chairs were noisy. I can’t stand that at restaurants (especially when you have to pay $$$$).
The food was nothing special, and the service was pretty boring. No real reason to come back here. Sushi elsewhere is less expensive and taste better.
