Hy's Steakhouse Whistler Ratings and Reviews
I have gone to Hy’s for the last 15 Years each time we have visited Whistler. This year was very disappointing. I brought a wonderful bottle of wine in which I was charged $50 for corkage fee, after buying two bottles of wine from Hy’s. My years in medical sales entertaining customers, I have never paid such a corkage fee. We spent $1000. At this dinner. The management was rude and ungrateful of our business. I will not give my business to Hy’s in any near future. Shame on them.
Excellent meal. Excellent service. Great wine and a wonderful night. Our server Sebastian made it a great night!
I really wanted to like my steak here, but my 8 oz. filet, while not offensive, was tasteless. The cut of the meat was less than 1" thick, much thinner than the finer steak places that I have been to (and I have been to many). I ordered the filet cooked medium, and most likely because of the thin cut, there was no sear on the outside, no pink center, and gray in color throughout. My daughter had the lobster tail, which I tried and found to be overdone and rubbery. My wife had the pomfret fish (also known as "butterfish") and it was excellent. I do have to say that our waiter was very engaging and the service was wonderful. I probably will not go back given the other fine dining choices in Whistler.
I was not impressed with the food. The French onion soup was way too salty, the gorgonzola filet was TINY and lacking in flavour. The accompanying mashed potatoes seemed out of a box. The creamed spinach (usually one of my faves) was tasteless. Won't go back. Experience was unauthentic and unremarkable.
We’ve been coming to Hy’s for over 10 years and in recent years with our three sons. The boys dream about your cheese toast! And of course, the steak.
The food and service is exceptional. The evening always starts with a Cosmopolitan followed by a good red. So loved drinking the Road 13! Thank you!!
We were very disappointed with the service. We were still choosing our wine and we told our waiter that we wouldn’t be having appetizers and would like to wait to order our mains. The waiter told us that there was a 40 minute wait for mains so we better put our order in, so we immediately ordered our food. Then we ordered a lovely bottle of wine with the sommelier. Just as he was pouring the first glass of wine, our mains arrived! This was about 10 minutes after we had ordered them. We were expecting time to enjoy a glass of wine before our food arrived. It was very disappointing to feel rushed. We heard our server say the same thing about the 40 minute wait to the table next us.
The food was amazing, we loved the steak and sides. The sommelier recommended an amazing BC wine and we really enjoyed it.
If you dine here I recommend you space your ordering yourself so that your food doesn’t arrive too quickly. For the quality of the food here and the prices you pay, you shouldn’t have to worry about that. Unfortunately, from our experience, you do.
Amazing food and impeccable service. We loved it! The steak was excellent. My son had the Surf & Turf and said it was the best lobester he had ever had. Don't go past the onion rings which were also fabulous. No children's menu is offered but they will do special children's meals if you ask
Good meal and service. It took our mains over an hour to arrive and though it was a busy evening, there wasn’t much of a mention except to expect them in ‘5 minutes.’ My sons steak was pretty undercooked for a medium rare. They remade it but still charged us for it.
Finally, we were looking to order dessert when our waiter said they had a 9PM seating at our table. He quickly came back to say we were ok because they found them another table, but the whole interaction seemed poor. Not only were they slow in their service but then they wanted to kick us out even though we wanted to spend more.
Anyway, I’m a fan of Hy’s but this evening was a bit disappointing.
Loved this restaurant - warm dark wood ambience with good buzz but nothing to intrude on our family chatter. Super service and really outstanding food. Seafood was every bit as good as the "steakhouse" offer - it is much more of a fine dining experience than the name suggests. We enjoyed wonderful wines and delightful desserts too. Highly recommended in every way.
We've tried several of the top rated restaurants in Whistler over the past 2 weeks but all thought this one came out top for us. It was also the most expensive but that's partly down to our wine choices and being unable to refuse the dessert menu!
Really disappointed with the steak and the rack of lamb. No flavour. We make better at home. Even the dessert was average. Have been to Hy’s many times before but on this occasion we were very disappointed.
Have been to Hy's on each of our three visits to Whistler and it never disappoint. It's not cheap but the staeks are outstanding
On our last night in Whistler after a wonderful 2 week holiday, we chose to eat at Hy’s. We were not disappointed!! The food was amazing, Sebastian - our server - was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about both the menu as well as wine matching. The atmosphere was cosy and we had a wonderful experience.
This is a five star restaurant. You get what you pay for. It is expensive but well worth it. Steaks are cooked to perfection and the seafood is fresh and delicious. A plethora of wine selections and a full bar. The food is great, but the phenomenal Service is what puts this place over the top. Great job.
Great food! Great service!!! A little expensive considering they charge for bread and steak sauce. Desserts are very very good but small portions for price. Its a one of a kind vacation so its all worth it. Would definitely come back.
Derek was totally awesome! We couldn’t have asked them spend our anniversary with anyone else. Food was incredible, drinks by Patrice were awesome! The overall experience with the entire staff was a great way to celebrate
We celebrated Christmas in Whistler and had dinner at Hy's which was lovely. The lamb is probably the best lamb I ever tasted so far. It is a bit pricy, but well worth it for special occasions. The service was excellent.
Exceptional dinner with superbly attentive service. Good atmosphere but the music was a little too intrusive for us. Current Sterling exchange rate makes the Wine List a tad expensive but one can find some affordable gems. A very happy evening on our first day ever in Canada.
This was the best restaurant we visited whilst in Whistler! The steaks are always top notch, although tad pricey for everyday dining, but the choice of wines to go with the steaks was really good and a good wide geographical area of wine's helped if like me you are partial to a nice Argentinian Malbec with your Filet mignon
We had a great experience but the only negative is that we were celebrating our engagement and the server and also he managers knew and did nothing extra for the celebration. We wouldn't expect anything extra but this was a first that a restaurant didn't do something small as a gesture.
