If you wanna shell out mad cash for over-priced food, come here! Two slices of French bread cheese toast for $10 what a steal. Then came $20 ahi tuna that was more than half cooked than seared. Should just quit serving seafood altogether. Thin slice of "Canadian black angus" bone-in 20 oz rib eye for $75. Actual meat portion was more like 10 oz. Wanted rare but server suggested medium rare. Came out closer to medium. Should of sent it back but at this point we just wanted out. Finished eating in 30 minutes. Had a MUCH better experience many times over at the OTHER steakhouse ;)
Second time coming here and both times we left satisfied. The portions are huge so sharing is the way to go! The caesar salad is a must have, highly recommended

Noisier than we have expierienced on previous visits to this Whistler location. My filet steak was a chewy end cut not the quality expected at Hys.
Our servers were excellent. We have dined at several Hys restaurants for over 50 years and probably will continue to eat there
This place has dim lighting a fancier restaurant. Great cooks, wonderful staff, very accommodating and on the ball. It is a higher priced menu but delicious food. The steak and lobster as well as every single thing they cook is on point.
You can go on a romantic date or just have a nice family dinner. We come here everytime we visit Whistler.
We took advantage of their special 4 course meal. It was a great value and the server Morghy was very friendly and efficient.
Disappointing, I should have followed other reviewers and gone to the Keg. While the steak was cooked to perfection and sauce was awesome my tenderloin steak was not tender at all. The accompanying vegetables were just a lame steamed beans and carrots. The sever mentioned we would get beets, cauliflower but they ran out, for a high end restaurant and the price point that is unacceptable. The “hand cut fries” were just out of a bag. Good wine list but very pricey.
Hy’s Whistler is nothing special, save your money and go elsewhere.
Service was good. Food was just good.. bordering on just ok. Steaks were the biggest disappointment. Steaks alone were 130 for two and they were
Terrible. For 2 of us our bill was 400 which would have been fine if the food was what we experienced in previous visits. Won’t be back. So very disappointed. A steakhouse should have the best steaks. How they could make a filet minion flavourless and tough is beyond me.
The steaks did not disappoint and were beautifully cooked; however the rest of the meal left something to be desired. Entrees were very expensive with vegetable side dishes being an extra cost for the main steak entrees (dishes included a steak and potatoe only). Value for cost was not simply not present. Side dishes, when included, were very small and poor presentation was reflected on the plate (a lot of empty space with no embellishments - presentation was not appealing to the eye).
The service was excellent and our waiter was top notch. The wine list was also phenomenal and well worth the visit on its own. The restaurant decor was average, so the ambiance, while pretty in the candle light, was not really a draw.
Overall I would recommend the restaurant for the steaks (which were exquisite) but beyond that, you could go to another restaurant and get a cheaper cut of steak and a better overall presentation.
Had the 4-course meal for $49. Great value. Great food. Jack makes the best caesar salad. Always a delight to eat there when visiting Whistler.

Very nice steakhouse in Whistler Village with great decor. The service was top notch, however, the steak was not as tender as I had expected for a filet mignon cut. It tasted a bit over seasoned, but not overwhelming. The prices were very steep, even compared to high end steak restaurants in Vancouver and in the US. Resort town, so it is what it is.
Hys was spot on the other night. They have never let me down. This is the place to go for a memorable dinner at whistler. Not to harp on araxi or umbertos ......they are fine as well but it’s hit and miss. Hys has perfected what they do. The staff is clearly knowledgeable about the wines and the menu. This Hys in my opinion is superior to the one in vancouver. I will be back again and again.
While we love a good steak house and are constantly eating out, our last couple of experiences at Hys just haven't measured up. Her plate (Scallops and prawns) was first way over done, then came back severely under cooked. I had the 60 day aged rib eye and just felt the cut itself wasn't that good. Ribeye is always my favorite selection of steak to eat, though the one I was served didn't satisfy either.
For a meal tipping the scales at $500, it was an overall disappointing experience.
The steaks were cooked to specifications. Service was good. Good lighting in establishment, not overly dark, nice ambience. Experience greatly enhanced with a good bottle of red, and the best port in the house.
Amazing food. Miss the servers that have been there for years. Not even a piece of birthday cake on the house for the special occasion.
Open Table was a great asset to make reservations at now our favorite restaurant in Whistler, BC. We had trouble getting through on the phone but Open Table worked!. There were 4 of us and we ate here last year and really enjoyed it. This time there was a "Chef's Menu" for Monday night. It was a good selection and just the right portions. Everything from beef, fish, pork, chicken and a squash lasagna. Appetizers/ Salads/ soup then entree plus dessert. Oh yes, cocktails and wine were enjoyed as well. We'll be back again, our waiter Jack was friendly, great service as well.
I dined at Hy's in Calgary in the late 60's and 70's. It was my favourite restaurant. I moved out of Calgary in the early eighties and did not have the opportunity to dine at Hy's until I saw the one in Whistler on September 23, 2017. It did not disappoint. I remembered how great the cheese toast was so we ordered it. It was as great as I remembered it. I had Beef wellington and my wife had Beef tenderloin. Both meals were perfectly done. for dessert we had a flambe banana and ice cream thing (i forget the name of it). It was done at our table. Perfect! When our waiter prepared this at our table, I remembered the ceasar salad they used to prepare at the table. It could not be beat but in my old age I forgot about it. I will have to track down another Hy's in my travels and I will definitely remember that. The Hy's at Whister is a gem. A bit pricey but worth every cent.
Dined alone, seated appropriately; martini was good; wedge salad was average, scallop appetizer was good but simple; beef Wellington was excellent. Wines by the glass was nicely extensive but pricey (25.5 for a 9oz glass for midrange) finished off with a nice port. Service was understated and perfect for my style.
our meal and experience was great for our honeymoon special dinner. the only downer was the abnoctious table behind us that was louder than the restaurant and complained about every part of their meal which didnt deserve that! We found the food to be superb and our waiter very fun! minus the debby downers it was great!
The server I had did more talking than serving. So, service was a bit slow for my preference. The NY steak, ceasar salad, lobster bisque (soup of the day), cheese bread were all good. The sides, however, was a waste of money because it was mehh. I didn't complain about the sides because that's probably how the restaurant want it to be cooked.
My husband and I and a long-time Swiss friend had dinner at Hy's a couple of nights ago..to celebrate a birthday. We liked most everything about it. We are beef lovers and our steaks were superb as was the red wine we chose to go with them. My husband had oysters for a starter and I had the prawn cocktail, both superb! We passed on dessert as we had a scrumptious bday cake waiting for us at home! We were all very pleased with our experience at Hy's!!! The ambience was lovely and our waiter very polite but relaxed and had an excellent knowledge of the menu!
We had reservations for 7:30 pm, arrived early so we could have drinks is at the bar before dinner. Our bartender, Sebastian was personable and made recommendation on cocktails and told us a bit about the area. When it was time, we were taken our table and our waiter (Marvin) reviewed the specials for the evening and asked about drinks. We ordered starters and mains and off he went. The waiter came back and said he was able to get us a item that was not on the menu, whick was great, so far so good. The appetizers were fine, but when it came to the main course, things went downhill, our meal was delivered piecemeal, the main plate was delivered to the table, more than several minutes later came one of the sides, then several more minutes later came the other side dish followed by another wait for the sauces. We had to asked to have our water glasses filled, our waiter never came by to check on us. When we were finished eating, we sat for close to ten minutes before the our bartender came and cleared the table. Our waiter then came by and with out saying a word dropped desert menus on the table and left. Another long wait before the waiter came by, we asked for the check (which was the only thing that was delivered to us efficiently) and left. On the way out I was asked how our evening went and I told them how disappointed we were by the service. For a restaurant with their reputation and the price paid, the service should have been excellent. What a disappointment. We will not be going back to this or any other Hy Steak House.
