Hy's Steak House - Waikiki Ratings and Reviews
Our stay was wonderful! The food was delicious and hot, the servers friendly, and we got to sit in the same seat as we did last time we came! The table next to us were louder than others, and used profanity In their regular vocabulary. Other than that, it was wonderful.
This is my first trip back to Hy's since probably the late 90's. I chose to take my honey there for Valentine's Dinner. The upstairs dining area has been tastefully reappointed. The food was as enjoyable as I had remembered. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection and generous. My New York steak was tender and juicy. The ambiance was quite romantic with the live vocals of Audy Kimura playing in the background. Overall I would give my experience a 9 out of a 10. 10 is reserved for an establishment that knocks my socks off. This was close.
Hy’s exceeded our expectations in every way. I know our party was a bit distracted and slow to order. We even had an elderly guest that fell asleep for a second. The staff was so patient with us. I can’t say enough for the delicious dinner and dessert. You know you’re in for a treat when you walk into Hy’s.
We will be back.
Pre Valentine dinner. We both enjoyed the service, food, ambience, & value including the knowledge of our server;
Daniel who provided the best service we have had in quite awhile in dinning out. The Steak was the best we had as my wife truly enjoyed every bite and w/ the side dishes we had was also very tasteful. The Dessert was quite delicious too. We plan on going back there when my son comes home for a visit. We can’t wait. We both
highly recommend this restaurant for an evening out for a super wonderful dinning experience you will never forget.
I frequently dine at Hy’s, they were especially busy the night I went so I was trying to be understanding but food service took way longer then normal. My salad came out fairly quickly but it wasn’t up to the normal standards that I’m used to, I normally get the table side Caesar salad but upon the recommendation from the waiter he suggested that I just order it from the kitchen as he said that it’s exactly the same as the table side Caesar salad but comes out a lot quicker. The Caesar salad I received looked like someone just threw it on a plate and sent it out, nothing like what I would expect from Hy’s especially when on average I dine there at a minimum of once a month. Then I waited around 15-20 minutes from the time I finished my salad until I got my main entree, all the while I felt a little neglected by my waiter and staff. All in all, I still like Hy’s and will go back but I’m extremely disappointed in this past experience especially when we went there to celebrate my birthday,
I read about this restaurant on a list of the best steakhouses in every state so I was very excited to try it. It has the old school fancy steakhouse vibe with beautiful decor and smartly dressed servers who were extremely attentive and friendly at every turn. The steaks were perfection in terms of temperature, seasoning and tenderness.
The truffle King crab Mac and cheese was a bit bland, but everything else was on point. The fresh tropical juices were fantastic. We had the pineapple passion fruit and pineapple guava. The portions are very large, so there's no need to order additional sides unless the table wants to share something. Each entree comes with either mashed potato, baked potato and fries and a crisp sauteed green bean and vegetable mix. It's expensive so this is only for special occasions, but we'll be back.
We’ve been there several times over the years but the group that served us this time were awesome! Made us local people feel very comfortable. All three of us agreed this was the best time there ever thanks to Josh or John, Logan, Riley and Galley Manager for being so honest about the crab legs. Excuse if names are incorrect. Please send our thanks!!
Good “Happy Hour”! We wanted to eat “light”, so asked to be seated in the bar. I started with a well-made cosmo and the oysters, which were small, but sweet and tender. I also had the French onion soup; it was PERFECT, hot, and very tasty. My husband had the sliders - lamb w/mint, crab, bison - a good size and very reasonably priced. The service was attentive but not obtrusive.
Very nice, low-key environment. A “civilized” meal. :)
