Hy's Steak House - Waikiki Ratings and Reviews
Hy's has always been consistent in serving the best steaks and having outstanding service. Their lobster bisque is to die for, and the table-side salads or flambes very special. They also do great little extras like providing a free birthday dessert (cheesecake) and taking a photo to mark the special occasion.
Now I've noticed additional extras like a logo'd tote bag to take your leftovers home in, and amazing chocolate candies (dark truffle) to replace the after-dinner mints. They apparently sell these signature chocolates themselves, in different flavors.
The acoustics are notable -- even with a full room it's very quiet and pleasant to have a conversation. It's not a cheap place to eat, but you get top notch food and service for your money. I will always go back there.
We made a special trip to Oahu for two nights to dine at our favorite restaurants! Our first stop was Hy’s! The food, service (Theresa was great), and ambiance including the musical entertainment was amazing! Don’t miss the Caesar Salad for Two, prepared table-side. We loved the special touches such as the chilled forks and plates that accompanied the salad. The filet Oscar was very tasty! It was too bad that we did not have room for the Bananas Foster, also prepared table-side. We did get to watch the show from the table next to ours. Hy’s, you did not disappoint! Thank you for such a great experience. We just hope it is not another seven years until our next visit! Mahalo for everything!
Mahalo Stuart and team for making my daughter's birthday celebration extra special. You're Cesar salad was excellent! The texas cut filet mignon was worth having. The photo gift at the end really put a nice touch on the entire experience. Bespoke! We will be back.
Our first time at Hy's to celebrate our first anniversary and we were treated like royalty. From the time our valet took our car, to the host at the front desk to our waiter, everyone was professional, courteous and exceptionally pleasant. Our waiter, Teresa, was not only eloquent and professional, she was also patient in answering our questions and mindful of our needs. Little things like changing my wife's dinner napkin to a different color to match her dress and removing bits off the table for a clean presentation at all times made a huge impression on us. Oh yes the food, our food was exquisite. Both French onion and butternut squash soup were delightful, very tasty but not overly rich, just perfect for starters. Our entree, the chateaubriand, was finished with great care table side and it was heavenly. We topped off our evening with the seasonal fresh pineapple in coconut vanilla ice cream flambe which was perfectly carmelized table side. Only the coffee was a slight disappointment as we are inclined to the richer dark roast blend and they served 10% Kona.
Definitely coming again and highly recommended especially for a very special occasion. Hy's is first class all around.
Bob the manager took really good care of us as soon as we entered the restaurant. We were given Table 96 which I feel is the best seat in the house. Richardo made sure we got everything we asked for and more. My son was visiting Hawaii from California and we celebrated his birthday here at Hy’s.
Well worth going to Hy's. I went with a friend and we were seated in Ernie's section. Ernie and others members took care of us with just the right level of attentiveness. The food was great and competitive with other steak houses in HNL. If you are looking for a good dinner in HNL, Hy's should be on your list.
Great flavor in the steaks from the Hawaiian wood. Service manager was great and interactuve. Hostesses were not friendly we had to wait 15 minutes for our table and they did not take us to the bar to wait. We were given seating next to the doors to kitchen which was not as private or quiet.
I had a great birthday dinner at Hys Steakhouse. The food was very good and so was the service until it was time to get the bill. It took about 20 mins to get individual bills and then it took another 20 after we gave our cards. Besides the wait, everything was great.
We were recommended by a business colleague as well as a friend and were delighted by the experience. My wife has health and hence dietary issues, so we were particularly impressed with their special efforts to meet her needs.
The whole experience was first class and so booked again for next week. We come to to Honolulu 3-4 times a year and Hy's will now be on our 'must do' list.
Not much to pick on here. This is a first class authentic world class steak house in the very top tier of steak houses. May not quite reach Peter Luger level of “flavor” due to wood fire and Hy’s seasoning that has an acquired taste but top tier non the less. Service and ambiance are tops as well (better than Luger). There certainly is no better in Hawaii and I would never visit Honolulu without going to Hy’s.
Hy's never disappoints: for Hallowe'en many of the young staff were in costumes. The service is always unobtrusive but attentive. Audy Kimura had the night off, but he is also a treat. There was only one choice for my husband's birthday (yes, it's 10/31) as far as he was concerned: Hy's is pricier than most, but a family favorite.
