Hyde Street Seafood House & Raw Bar
Crab cakes tasted like bread stuffing. Caesar salad was very good but small. Seafood linguini was fairly good. The fish en papillote is their specialty but we didn’t have this.
Great service and good location. Cute place. For SF I expected the food to be better. It wasn’t bad, just no “wow” factor.
Great service and great food; very pleasurable experience!
Food is always fresh and delicious. Staff friendly and professional. A nice neighborhood restaurant.
The service was wonderful
Amazing!!! I plan to become a regular here. Thanks
Our server was working really hard as she seemed to be the only one who had come in to work. The food was fantastic.
Excellent food with wonderful service by very friendly staff. The freshest ingredients were used in food preparation. Highly recommended.
Not gonna sugar coat this here, this place was straight out of a movie. The food was extraordinarily subpar, definitely messed up some of our parties stomachs and had them spending the rest of their night in the restroom. The servers must have descended from snails because they were moving at a glacial pace. It was straight banana land and I don’t think anyone with a decent pallet would ever go here.
Nice quaint place. The escargots were delish!
This was overall a fabulous experience. We had a foreign group next to us with a child on a cell phone during dinner that was very distracting and bad manners for a restaurant of this caliber.
This appeared to be a one off situation. The service and the food was spectacular.
Our meals were delicious and the service was very friendly and attentive.
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Seafood was great and vegetables well prepared. Our server was very accommodating and we had a wonderful time.
This is a nice little spot on Hyde St that has great oysters, terrific service and nice food. If you are looking for a quiet space with decent food give it a try. The service is outstanding.
Nice neighborhood location but food just not up to par. $16 prawn appetizer was literally 4 small sized shrimp on a plate - not a prawn at all. While my New Zealand grouper was good, my daughter's cajun shrimp and scallops were inedible. Floating in oil. Waitress asked her about it and despite saying she did not care for it, there was no adjustment on the bill - not even the offer of a free drink or dessert to say sorry. Lastly, even though a small thing, we got there before 7pm happy hour ended, but waitress charged me full price for my wine. Would not go back.
Food was fantastic! Well worth going off the beaten path
This is always a very nice place to go. The food, especially the dishes cooked in parchment, is excellent. I had salmon, which is always a good choice here. The only problem here is the parking, which is always brutal. Other than that, I recommend it highly.
This family run business is warm, welcoming and serves excellent food. Our server was friendly and properly attentive. Seafood is the focus of the restaurant as would be expected based on the name of the restaurant. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner which was well prepared. The salmon, scallops and other dishes were excellent. We will return to this restaurant on our next visit to San Francisco.
We were entirely satisfied. Appreciated the good service and the quiet.
Family owned restaurant with beautiful romantic setting. All maritime decorations. Service is wonderful and personable. The food was well made and delicious.
Love this place!
Sea bass and shrimp were fantastic! And serve was great!
Great food. Good atmosphere. Clean restaurant. The service was on spot.
Nice relaxing meal
Food was delicious! Fresh fish that was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Sophia was welcoming and provided excellent service. We’ll return very soon!
Out of the bustle neighborhood find with reasonable prices and good food
Enjoyed our dinner before a concert at The Masonic. Seafood was fresh and well prepared. Service was friendly, maybe a bit slow. Overall, I’d recommend it.
Very cozy pleasant environment, nice and friendly waiters and restaurant manager. Food was prepared in a good timing and was very tasty!
What a pleasant experience! Husband and I were in town for business and had the last night to ourselves. We chose this restaurant based on its reviews, proximity to our hotel, and a desire for unpretentious seafood. It was an absolute delight. The food was excellent, as was the service. My husband particularly enjoyed the historic nautical maps and ship models. We would definitely go back if in the area again.
Let’s start with the fact my husband got sick. Then with my conclusion that with the exception of the very good oysters, everything presented was probably frozen from Costco. Caesar salad came with no dressing at all, when asked the dressing was vinegrette. The fish was served with cheap accompaniments like a spring roll exploded. The lobster raviolis were clearly filled with lobster byproducts, ie the red small leg meat in a puréed mess.
The wine list was pathetic.
I am very disappointed at the stars this place got on Open Table. It should not even be listed.
The restaurant has not been cleaned And the decor was from 40 years ago. The bathroom had a disgusting residential bath mat that was filthy. Horrible.
This has been one of my favorite go-to spots when I visit San Francisco. It is a local place, away from the tourists but easy to get to. The friendly owner and staff recognize me each time. The seafood and julienned vegetables, cooked in parchment paper is really outstanding. You can't go wrong coming here.
Been here before and it lived up to my expectations once more. A must place for sea-food lovers.
Great neighborhood space with wonderful seafood. This was a surprise - you don't think of Russian Hill for seafood, but that is what this place has and it is soooo good! Try the papillotte fish choices - they are healthy and really really good. Lots of raw bar choices as well as hot appetizers and salads as well. They have a number of specials and happy hour wine and appetizers. Very cozy place right on a cable car line. Much better than going down the hill to Fisherman's Wharf with its crowds and high prices. This is a good place to meet up with friends, but not if you're in a hurry. Definitely be back to this place - a real find!
We showed up at 4:55PM on a Sunday, the place looked closed. We walked around the block and a few minutes later the place opened up. We had happy hour oysters from 5-7PM. We were all impressed with the excellent food and great atmosphere. Definitely a gem in the city.
Great experience, food and service. My friend from Maine loved it.
I just love this place! It's my local go to restaurant. Prices are right, seafood fresh, lobster bisque the best.
And the service staff remembers you. I'll be back again and again.
Excellent food, we were one of three tables in the restaurant. Very quiet, personal dining experience
Can’t beat their Happy Hour pricing for raw oysters ... just $15.00 for a dozen. Family owned & operated, they consistently provide great food & service. This is a “must-do whenever I’m in San Francisco.
While the restaurant is located in an older residential/shop neighborhood, don't let that put you off - food is delicious. My wife had pan-seared halibut that was perfectly seasoned and I the corvina sea bass en papillotte that was also prepared very well. A neighborhood gem.
We liked the romantic ambiance. The attentive service was great! The lobster bisque was flavorful, the seafood stuffed shrimp was very rich and hearty. The rainbow trout was very good, fresh & light. We will go back to try other dishes. Fun to watch the cable cars full of visitors pass by as we dined.
