Hyde Beach Kitchen + Cocktails - SBE - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time eating here so maybe an off night, but little excuse not to put your best foot forward at 8:30pm on a Saturday night. Roasted Hen of the Woods mushrooms delicious but that's about it. Salmon crudo had so little taste you could never have recognized the salmon by taste alone. A whole snapper for two was tasty enough but completely unspectacular for $60 and a roasted head of cauliflower managed to have some grill marks on the exterior yet have no roasted taste and be steamed in the middle, served over something the menu called "Romesco" but whitish in color, grainy and pretty tasteless. Just a very mediocre meal that we were charged high moderate prices for. With so many good options nearby, can't imagine going back for food. Would be happy to have a drink outside at this very stylish location though, just pass on the food!
I was a bit disappointed because it names itself as "specialty craft cocktails" but they were out of ingredients to make the one I wanted. Then I ordered a glass of Malbec but they were out of that. Very disappointing. The food was good but that started the evening off rather poorly.
Was nice but inside was very smoky. Not sure if there was a ventilation issue but ended up sitting outside and we were hoping it wasn't going to rain as they only had seats out in the open left. Fortunately it didn't but don't want to be a complainer but it was surprisingly noise for an outside area. Otherwise it was lovely.
Killer location and view can't be denied. Really great. But the menu has undergone a recent change and not for the better. None of our favorites were there, and the new stuff was mediocre at best. And prices seemed to have gone up. We were told there is a new chef (bad idea) and also that the restaurant is closing soon.
This restaurant is in the process of closing in May 2017 and being redeveloped into a different restaurant with a different chef. We didn't know this or we might have decided to pass. The restaurant has an exceptional ocean view, but the food is very average for the high cost. Our server was excellent, but every course came out cold. I am guessing that there is no longer any kitchen management in place given the impending transition. The menus were all grimy. I would wait to try the new restaurant that goes in.
The restaurant itself is nice and the view of the beach/ocean is amazing. The brunch I would not recommend. It is over priced and they have not enough food stations. It was very disappointing. The food was not good the fish not fresh they charge you for every little thing. The fruit wasn't fresh and the egg station was a mess. I would recommend this place for lunch or dinner when eating from their regular menu.
Reservation at 9: seated on patio but too windy so moved inside adjacent to hostess stand. Was treating a dear friend for birthday dinner and thought the seating arrangement was ideal. But RARELY saw the waitress. Ordered Moroccan Chicken and Branzino. The fish was extremely bland and the only taste I recall were the beans served on the side....oh and the two olives! Waited for cocktails to the point I nearly had to walk to the bar to ask for two more cocktails. Never was our waitress attentive even to ask how everything was?!?! Then we sat aimlessly with dirty plates in front of us for a good 15 minutes when I finally had to ask for the half eaten bland portions to be removed. Never was dessert offered but just as well. Then once waitress Antonia reappeared she said it had been a pleasure serving us!!?!?!?!?! I apologized to my birthday guest for this experience and could have chosen any place in Miami!! I now owe him a replacement dinner after spending $215 for two for a most lackluster evening.
THE WORST service we've experienced for a restaurant claiming to be "five star"
Took 40min for waiter to come and take our drink order...we were sitting for over an hour by the time drinks came. By then our party of 4 were pretty fed up with this HORRIBLE service and ended up leaving to another restaurant.
This place should be avoided at all costs considering the price point and lack of service. Plenty of great restaurants within 3 minutes
We will not return unless the service improves.
The view and ambiance are so fabulous I'm sorry to not give a great review. However, I've been here several times and love bringing out of town guests. Actually the food is pretty good too (not entirely true to the adage that the better the view, the worse the food), not fabulous but good. It's the service that sucks - nice servers but totally untrained and absent. You should definitely go for the view and good food on a terrace overlooking the ocean but hurry, we were told the hotel was not renewing their lease.
After reading many negative reviews I was hesitating to come back to this restaurant. Very happy I was able to ignore the reviews. Carlos, our server was excellent. Very pleasant, gave us good suggestions what to order. We really enjoyed mushroom appetizer, Ceviche tacos, mussels, Lebanese flatbread. Octopus was good but a very small portion . The desert Carlos suggested was the best - Banana praline pudding. Will Def come back.
Horrible from start to finish. Valet had no room for my car. Sunday buffet - olives, a piece of turkey and avocado. Basically I paid 70.00 for a glass of wine and over cooked waffle and chicken leg. It took 2 hours for the entree. Worst meal in years. I was reminded that a meal on the ocean in south FL is always terrible.
If you don't care about what you are eating and want a very poorly well made drink with a view of the ocean, this is the place for you!! Not only did it take 15 minutes for a waitress to come to us after we were seated, we waited another 10 minutes after that for just glasses of water! I ordered one of their speciality cocktails, it tasted like nothing but sour mix even though that was not mentioned anywhere on the menu description, it was supposed to be honey, aloe vera liquor, something spicy, etc...nothing of those sorts were in my cocktail, one of the worst I've ever had actually. I took my mom here, who ordered risotto, and it came back UNCOOKED, as in the rice was HARD, this isn't pasta where you can cook it al dente. We had to send it back, and while we waited for a remake, they offered us absolutely nothing, not that I was expecting anything for free, but at least ask, hey would you like to order an app or flatbread while you wait hungry? nope, the worst waitress service I have ever dined with. My salmon entree, the salmon was barely 3 oz fish, on top of a small spoonful of unseasoned bland boring quinoa with a tiny smear of some creamy white crap. The topper, valet is $12 and they do not tell you this when you arrive, you only find out the horror when receiving your car. Will not be back and will be sure to tell all my friends, family, acquaintances, etc to stay away. I'm sure this place will change names or close down or change ownership shortly as there is no way this establishment can survice.
Gorgeous atmosphere, great service. We ordered family style. 7 items amongst 3 people. 5 of them were excellent. Get the Moroccan Chicken and the Lebanese flatbread . Other 2 dishes were okay... lobster wedge salad was odd.
What bothered us the most was the amount of noisy children around us. Kids running around our table, kids on the other side of us listening /watching Disney movies loudly on their iPad.
It Just wasn't what I was expecting to deal with when I wanted to go out with my friends for cocktails and food later on a Friday evening. We would've stayed until very late, but left to find a different spot to continue our night.
I know that it isn't the restaurant's fault, but if somehow they can section families with young kids off , that would be great. Not sure what else to say... I probably sound mean. Apologies.
The view is nice. Our server was nice. The food was just shy of disgusting and the drinks were extremely overpriced.
We ordered Short Ribs and Lobster Tail. The short ribs should have been called just ravioli. Not exaggerating, there were 5 pieces of meat that were slightly bigger then sugar cubes. Oh, and the ravioli could have been from a can. The Lobster was small, and covered in foam that had no reason to be there. Super starchy pasta that was very bland.
Several locals laughed at us and said yep, no one goes there.
One of our meals came to the table cold, so as my spouse waited for his new plate, which was supposed to be hot, my plate sat and became soggy...unfortunate, especially because despite this mess up the taste was quite good. We sat at the bar for a pre dinner drink and the drinks and service at the bar were fantastic. In retrospect we should have remained at the bar for our meal, as I suspect the service and food would have been delivered timely and appropriately.
We came here for dinner while on vacation in Hollywood Beach as it was recommended by a friend. The food was delicious and the ambiance was fabulous. Really beautiful spot right on the ocean. Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for a nice dinner.
