Hutch's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Terrible service. Booked a 7pm reservation on Open Table a week prior, received a confirmation telephone call the afternoon of our reservation, which I returned. Arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before 7pm. Was told our table was not ready and we could wait in the bar, which was packed. After 20 minutes and no table, we returned to the front entrance and were told repeatedly that our table was being set. After another 40 minutes of standing by the hostess and STILL not being seated, we left at a little after 8pm, 1 hour after our reservation. Ended up going to another restaurant where the service was impeccable.
I have no respect for a restaurant that respects its patrons so little as to not honor a reservation. There was absolutely no attempt to ameliorate the situation by Hutch's, not even an apology or an offer of a complimentary drink or something to eat while we waited an hour. I would certainly not return here, nor would I recommend Hutch's for a special evening (as ours was) which could so easily be ruined.
Everything about this restaurant is terrific! The food is outstanding and the menu has a wide variety of choices. As a seafood lover, I was impressed with the large number of options, including four different types of fish as entrees. I enjoyed the Morocan spiced swordfish which was perfectly prepared, very moist and flavorful. The beet salad with blue cheese was excellent as well. The service was outstanding as well - wait or was there when needed, but didn't hover. All in all, a wonderful restaurant!
Parking is a challenge. Had to park on the street and hope for no ticket.
Meal was good. Even though everything is a la carte, food was great. Everything was fresh. Bison Steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The ribeye steak was good, but less flavor than bison steak. BLT wedge salad is awesome, and all sides were great.
We went to Hutch's to celebrate our anniversary. All of the staff including the hostess, bartenders, wait staff and bus staff were very friendly and attentive. Our server was very attentive to all of his tables and was very helpful with a wine suggestion. Food was excellent. My only "complaint" is the noise level, but that seems to be the case everywhere these days. I would definitely recommend Hutch's for your special occasion!
Wonderful meal. The calamari is the best I've had in Buffalo. There was a grilled peach salad on the special menu that was outstanding. My husband ordered the veal chop and is still raving about the delicious sauce. I had the halibut special. Fish was cooked perfectly. Our server was excellent, friendly, informative. Would highly recommend Hutch's.
I don't normally leave reviews for anything but I feel compelled to do so today. My wife and I made reservations for our anniversary for 8pm. We showed up maybe a minute or two before 8. The hostess told us that they were just clearing off a table and it would be a few minutes. No big deal we said and we went to wait in the bar area. About 20 mins later the hostess came over to offer us a table outside. Normally an acceptable option except this was a hot, muggy night and it had been raining all day and my wife is 6 months pregnant. So we passed and waited for a table inside. Finally 50 minutes after our reservation time we are seated. We are seated next to the bathroom and near the "large group area". The table about 4 feet from my back was a group of ten guys partying it up. Trying to order was like ordering a drink at a busy nightclub. You essentially had to yell anything to communicate, even to my wife who was sitting right next to me. The food itself was good as usual but not good enough to get the bad taste out of my mouth.
This was our first visit after hearing about Hutches for years. Service and food was outstanding and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It's a little pricey but that comes with the territory and worth it for a special occasion. We both ordered evening specials and very generous portions (halibut and salmon) perfectly cooked. We will be recommending to friends and family.
Food was good, the lamb chops had a good flavor but were a bit undercooked for my taste. The ceviche was excellent. Our waiter was really nice and accommodating when my husband asked for a whiskey that was not available. We did feel a bit uncomfortable when everyone stared as we were taken to our table...we are an inter racial couple and while I usually never notice these things, it did feel like all eyes were on us.
Hutch's never fails to deliver! The food is cooked perfectly every single time I've been here! Every time! The service is always impeccable! It's casual or dressy, dimly lit, great drinks and wine list, fun people watching. Don't miss the tobacco onions and the steak au poive. You cannot go wrong here - there is something for everyone! Top notch all the way! Enjoy!
I would not recommend nor return to this restaurant! Our reservation was honored and the maitre'd was pleasant and courteous. However, the table was too small and in inadequate space. The restaurant was noisey and crowded. The wait staff was poor at best. The food was nothing special with a pricey menu and small portions. The bus person was poorly trained, clearing plates too early and sticking dirty dishes on the table! The waiter himself, while experienced, was visabley unhappy with our orders and actually threw the bill on the table! All in all, this was an unpleasant experience! There are many great restaurants in Buffalo that provide a wonderful dining experience, however, Hucth's is NOT one of them!
My wife and I walked into Hutch's around 6:15 to celebrate her birthday. As we waited at the hostess' desk, I could see the other reservations on the screen. There were roughly 8 other reservations with 2 others people tables for 2. There were 5 other tables currently seated in the restaurant.
I mention this because my wife and I were seated in the back corner of the restaurant next to the only other interracial couple. The rest of the mostly empty restaurant had plenty of tables for 2 open. We were not offered a different table or the patio. We were uncomfortably close to the other table too. There was about a foot separating our table from the other couple.
We felt very unwelcomed and uncomfortable. It was very noticeable the non-white people were literally tucked away in the back of the restaurant while the white patrons had seats near the front/patio/well lit areas. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all and there were plenty of tables for 2 elsewhere. We ended up leaving after a few minutes. On our way out the hostess didn't even make eye contact with us or ask us why we were leaving. I will never dine at Hutch's ever again.
A very pleasant experience overall. Service was excellent. The patio faces a busy road but is still enjoyable on a warm evening. If you are in Buffalo I think this is the place to go for a good dinner! The fish and seafood was very fresh. We didn't have desserts but I saw some being served and the looked delicious.
I chose Hutch's for a business dinner and was extremely pleased with the food and service, however the noise level was a little distracting. We were seated at a table in the back of the restaurant and once all of the tables filled up it was hard to hear one another. Four in our group of 6 ordered the Halibut and it was amazing with a very generous portion. I would definitely go back again.
It was perfect in every category. I loved the area we were sitting in, the water glasses were never empty, food was prepared marvelously and everything was delicious. Our server was very knowlegeble in selecting the perfect wine to accompany our dinner choices. All staff were friendly and accommodating from beginning to end. Hutch's is my favorite restaurant in the Buffalo area. Outstanding!
