Great service. Fantastic lunch in a beautiful atmosphere
As always the lunch at Husk was great. Always an interesting menu with very good service. We continue to eat here on a regular basis on our frequent trips to Charleston.
Had a great lunch at Husk. First time visiting and went on recommendation from friends. We had one of the best Cheeseburgers ever- 3 different types of ground beef, bacon, shaved onions on a homemade bun with homemade pickles- YUM! We also had a delicious catfish entree over a fresh veggie broth that was delicious! Great service and atmosphere. Will definitely go back for more!
Maybe our expectations were so high because of the stellar reviews and Bon Appetit applause. And maybe because we are from the south, we perhaps expected something really new and different. There were lettuce wraps made with pork skins and pickled onions. This was fabulous! For dinner, I had catfish over corn. It was okay. My husband had grouper. We had too sweet cornbread. Butter beans with no seasoning. We skipped dessert. Because the place offers seasonal items and the menu changes often, I would probably recommend that you try it. We might, if we visit at another time of the year. There were many other places, during our week in Charleston, that we enjoyed much more.
Whatever you think you know about Husk - whatever you've read about Husk - whatever you sense you might be about to experience at Husk - don't even try to prepare because Husk is beyond any expectation. Husk is going to blow you away. Everything is fresh and flavorful and beautifully presented. Don't forget to get a pan of cornbread for the table.
We went to three high end restaurants while in Charleston for three nights. This of course being the Charleston "must". However for us it was a Charleston bust. It was the most expensive of the three and most disappointing. The wine list was lacking. Being known for it's southern influence, we were quite surprised after ordering 2 apps and 2 entrees, that only one of them actually tasted southern. The others all screamed Asian. No big, I'm fine with Asian food, and it was all well prepared, just lacking pizazz. Nothing we had was memorable or made me want to run home and recreate it. We left wishing we had gone back to one of the other two significantly more memorable restaurants.
Traveled from out of town because we had heard really great things about the place... and it did not disappoint! will be back ASAP! Enjoyed the restaurant and the bar! lots of bourbons1 best selection i've seen yet!
Amazing food. Great menu. Friendly atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyable experience
The meal was fabulous. You must try to Pig Ear Lettuce Wraps if they are on the menu... surprisingly delicious.
My husband and I have been to Husk twice now and were very impressed both times. There are obviously a ton of great places to eat in Charleston, but this is one of our favorites. The drinks, food, and service were all phenomenal. We will definitely be going back.
In the pouring rain we ran from the parking garage across the street to have our Sunday Brunch at Husk. It was worth the trip - very attractive inside, with a unique locally-focused menu. All four in our party enjoyed our selections immensely.
Fell in love with the restaurant. I Will come back again. Next time i Will try the restaurant in Nashville.
Chicken wing appetizer was under cooked, pink inside, could not eat only nibbled on the outer portion
Our meal and entire dining experience was wonderful! Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and recommended the catfish. My boyfriend had steak. Both dishes were outstanding! When we visit Charleston again, Husk will definitely be one of our stops.
We loved everything about it! The food, our server, her suggestions....excellent!
Our dining experience was as amazing as it has always been at Husk. Husk had a laid back feel with heavenly apps, entrees and desserts. Definitely one of our favorites!
This was hyped quite a bit to me before I went for dinner, but it absolutely lived up to or exceeded the hype in every way. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates interesting, expertly-prepared food.
From the pigs ears to the catfish to the cornbread Husk lived up to and exceeded expectations. A well-served reputation and a very congenial atmosphere, with friendly, knowledgeable servers and a good variety of wines. We brought friends from New Orleans here and they were impressed.
After the many wonderful reviews I have read about Husk over the years, I was expecting an amazing experience. I would like to note that the restaurant is beautiful and the service was wonderful. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. All four of us agreed that our appetizers were the best part of the meal. We also agreed that our entrees were underwhelming.
For the price of the meal, we will not be returning.
We had high expectations after Food Network reviews AND word on the street in Charleston, and we were not disappointed. Exciting flavors, fabulous seasonal menu, beautiful food presentation, first rate staff, gorgeous setting- win! win! win! We'll definitely be back!
We were pleasantly surprised that Husk lived up to its reputation. Great flavor and ample servings! We really enjoyed the cornbread!
Room, service staff were both as billed. Food was not up to the hype. Had a number of meals in Charleston that were much better.
Husk came highly recommended by a good friend and fellow foodie and I couldn't be more thankful. This place is in high demand, fortunately we were able to get a reservation for lunch. I'm glad we came for lunch because the crowd picked up later. While we were there, it felt like we received especially special service. Everyone was attentive and super-friendly. The food was also pretty darn amazing. Be sure to try the shrubs (vinegar and soda water drinks), it's a local Charleston great. Next time you visit Charleston, make Husk a top item on your "to do" list.
Lovely restaurant. From how packed it was, you know it's very popular. The food was very fresh and tasty. Chef changes menu everyday. Service is excellent. Very friendly. Definitely worth a try when visiting Charleston
Highly recommended. Unique but not "weird" food. Everything was delicious and very fresh.
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Husk while touring Charleston. The use of local foods was inventive as well as delicious. The shrimp and grits were the best I have ever had and the wine list was excellent. I would certainly recommend Husk to anyone visiting the Charleston area.
love it...cant wait to go back....................................................................
My husband and I had the Sweet Corn Soup for an appetizer and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. And that was just the first course!! We were sooooooo happy with the service, the ambiance and the quality of the food that we will definitely eat there again in the future. I couldn't be happier with the experience.
I was somewhat disappointed..ordered quail, and serving was very small, tasty, but lacked substance...no rice or potatoes....just quail and corn, would not be sufficient for a man's meal, better for lunch....I was expecting something really fine and found it to be an average restaurant, not much ambiance...did like that the food sources were all local...
We enjoyed our meal here and the options on the menu. I tried the Shrub drink which was interesting. The Wait staff was ok… but didn't exactly get the most friendly or welcoming feeling from the hostess or our server.
Made these reservations months before our vacation based on a recommendation from a friend as a "must eat at" restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful. Service was efficient and food was delivered quickly. Dinner rolls were out of this world! Heirloom tomato appetizer was so delicious & flavorful. Food was excellent with beautiful presentation! Great place to splurge on a meal!
The food was great, simple, but wonderful. The appetizers were better then the entrees we ordered. My husband ordered the chicken and I had quail. The chicken was a little bland, the quail was very good. The chocolate cake was wonderful. The wine list was just ok.
My husband and I have been waiting to get a reservation for Husk because wd have heard really good things. We finally got one at 9:15 pm so didn't each much during the day to save up for all the delicious food. We were disappointed when we saw that the menu hadn't changed from the previous day. The pimento cheese was fair and the bread was something I could get at the grocery store. Both of our meals were too spicey and didn't have much to go with it. I couldn't even get a beer because all that was offered was local flare. Also, the bar waiting area was so packed that you couldn't even move. I'm glad we went so we could mark off our list but we won't be returning. Way too expensive for mediocre food and service.
One of the best meals I've ever had. Super fresh ingredients and a lot of love put into the broths and sauces. The pig ear lettuce wraps are also a must try. The wait staff was very knowledgable about the menu and attentive. Overall a phenomenal dining experience.
Food is phenomenal- from the pig ears to the fish and clams. My only gripe is the desert was horrible. Would definitely return... And probably choose something different for dessert. Husk took chances on food and knocked it out of the park (sans dessert)
We had a reservation for my daughter's 21st birthday. All of us were treated to a glass of complimentary, celebratory champagne and my daughter received the daily printed menu with a special message. Everything was delicious the shrimp and grits, hamburger, and daily preparation of fish. The restaurant is beautiful and they don't crowd tables together like some restaurants. We loved our dining experience!
Husk was recommended by many people and rightfully so. We made lunch reservations and were seated shortly after arriving. The decor of the restaurant was southern and cozy. The food was delicious and the service was great. I got the brisket sandwich and my boyfriend got the fried catfish, both were really tasty. We split the peach turnover for dessert and it was fantastic. I would definitely go back to Husk to try their dinner or for lunch again.
Wonderful meal! Best shrimp and grits we have had in charleston and incredible drinks! Can't wait to go back!
First visit to Husk to celebrate a milestone birthday for my husband. We were immediately seated upon our arrival (with a reservation); food was delivered quickly and was delicious. Loved the presentation and veggies, too! Dessert (chess pie) was to die for. Nice way to experience great Southern food without the pretentiousness of other well-known Charleston establishments.
Everything we ordered was memorable, from a gin and tonic--with house-made tonic--to cornbread to catfish to arugula/beet salad.
Wonderful service, quiet, inviting. We will go back.
