Was there for brunch. Shrimp & Grits were fantastic! Bloody Mary with a pickle and a slice of ham required an encore... Overall very delicious, thoughtful and satisfying food.
We went to Husk to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed. Quick seating, friendly & efficient server, and amazing food. We will definitely be back!
This was our second time here for lunch in the past year and everything was spot on. The menu is small, and if you don't like southern cuisine with authentic ingredients, then this is not for you. the Shrimp & Grits were outstanding, so were the Cheese Grits and fried chicken with skillet cornbread and a side of refreshing cucumber salad. It's one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. Love the house, too.
In Charleston on vacation. Had heard great things about Husk. We were not disappointed. Get food, great service, great atmosphere. Hope to be able to go back on our next trip to Charleston.
Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Fantastic food, excellent service, great ambiance.
I live in Nashville and have frequented the Husk location there many times. While on vacation, my boyfriend and I wanted to try the original Husk and it did not disappoint. Make a reservation and enjoy the Husk bar next door for amazing cocktails before dinner. We had wonderful service, enjoyed every plate we ordered and left so happy. Thanks Husk Charleston!
My wife and I came here for a great dinner date night. The restaurant was amazing. From the greeters at the door to our waiter, it was a great experience. Our waiter was wonderful, very friendly and knowledgeable about the food, restaurant, menu and Charleston. And the good was dynamite and fairly priced. Would recommend to any friends/family and would return if ever back in Charleston.
We loved our entrees down to the last bite. The sauces were excellent on our steak and chicken dishes. The Bok Choy dish was excellent also. Just don't do the fried chicken skins for an app! You won't enjoy your entree as much as they are very filling!
Based on our dining experience, we found lunch just ok. It did not live up to expectations. We had heard good things about Husk but were left wondering what made their experience so special versus ours. It wasn't a horrible lunch and the service was great but nothing calls us to go back again when there are so many other wonderful options to try in charleston.
We ate in several restaurants in Charleston during our 4 day stay.
To my opinion, HUSK is the best from many other good restaurants.
Additional, the prices are moderate compared to others and service is outstanding.
We planned out weekend getaway from Florida solely based on Husk. Food and service were awesome and have recommended several people so far. Will be back soon and will be at the Nashville location also. We had a feeling it would be great but this was the best. We didn't even make it to the entree menu as we ordered and ate every appetizer on the menu that night. Everything was fresh and fantastic.
All the starters were phenomenal. Tried pigs ears for the first time. Amazing. Also, the oysters were some of the best I have ever eaten! Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of the Husk establishment. From the local sources of food, the characteristics of varied spices, and even the building's history. She made the whole event even more enjoyable.
The Husk is a treasure.
We were there for a late Sunday brunch and they were out of two of the items we would have liked to have tried. One was a biscuit appetizer and the other was a fried chicken dish....really not impressed considering all the hype.
Each time I've been to Husk it has been very good. I think there are better places in Charleston so it is a little frustrating that you have to book a dinner reservation weeks in advance, but I am happy they're having such success.
The cheese grits are amazing. The Shirley Dinklage is an incredible (non-alcoholic) drink.
Each time I've gone and had an entree, it was very good. I can heartily recommend Husk, but if you're fighting to get a reservation, don't. Go someplace else. You'll be just as happy.
Had the hush puppies, chicken fried steak and shrimp and grits. Everything was wonderful, but kind of pricey for lunch
This place was awesome. We had drinks at the bar next door and they were amazing! Very creative menu options and all so fresh. Love that it changes everyday depending on what is available from the local vendors. Delicious- must visit!
Wife's main dish was fish and for the price small portion. Too many beans not enough other vegetables. My ham dish was good not great. Corn bread exceptional. The bar next door is really cool place.
Enjoyed the drinks and appetizers. After appetizer was finished and taken away, it took about half an hour to get the entree. Got the black grouper, wasn't impressed for the price. For a place with a huge buzz and close to a month wait on reservations, I did not think Husk was everything it was made out to be.
The food was exceptional! Fresh, interesting and full of great flavors! I had a pork dish which was prepared with Asian flavors- really delicious. The cornbread was so good (and I was born and raised in Texas). This was the best meal we had in Charleston. Hope to return the next time we are visiting this area.
Husk was absolutely excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal and the experience. Ambiance was awesome, clearly built into an old house on a side road in the middle of Charleston. Started with the smokey and sweet cornbread. The NC chicken is an awesome dish, but isn't what you'd expect. The dish comes in a broth with vegetables and the potatoes. Also had the Heritage Pork. Similarly, not just a pork dish. Wonderfully Asian-inspired slaw of vegetables and the pork comes in a good-sized pork serving in a circle. Totally excellent.
The dessert was a lemon sorbet dish with a nice fruit sauce which stole the show. It was seasonal, but it should be a constant staple.
Highly recommended and awesome.
Outstanding as always
Mike was an excellent server! Very helpful with suggestions on dishes.
Elegant former mansion with modern clean interior design. The food is delicious with simple yet layered flavors. A new take on southern traditional food. The service was one of the best that I have ever had in a top restaurant. Courteous with excellent suggestions on the food and wine.
We tried to eat at Husk last year while in Charleston but were unable to get in before 9 PM due to the demand for reservations. Thinking this must be an extraordinary dining experience, I made a reservation in February for an April 26 6 PM seating. Our experience at the restaurant was very good - food was excellent as was the service. However, we experienced the same food quality and level of service at other Charleston restaurants with a two - day reservation or even a walk-in. While Husk is a high-quality restaurant, neither the price nor the demand are exceptional when compared to other area restaurants.
The rude, unkind hostess started us out feeling this experience was not going to be anything special. She then sent us up a long flight to an upstairs table even though it was obvious that my husband was somewhat challenged in the walking department. The young waiter meant well but he was a novice and had no answers to our questions. He was untrained. The menu was so pork heavy it seemed frivolous and uninteresting. I was VERY disappointed in Husk and don't understand its popularity.
You had me at 5% bacon... It was delicious and I highly recommend it to any burger lovers out there! The service was top notch as always. Never a bad experience at Husk. Always excellent food and service. Only downside is having to plan a bit in advance to get reservations!
Very fresh ingredients and food is well prepared.
Beautiful restaurant with beautiful food. Our waiter, Heath, was so knowledgeable about the source of all ingredients and helped walk us through the food and drink menus. Cocktails were strong but so drinkable (dangerous!). Menu was interesting and included ingredients/pairings I've never seen before. Everything we ate was delicious, from the buttermilk rolls to start to the lemon pound cake for dessert. A small detail, but the coffee was especially incredible. Heath told us about the beans and their history, which was one of the coolest facts from our visit to Charleston. A wonderful dining experience!
A lot of hype about Husk but it was a disappointment! Def not the best restaurant in Charleston. Our server took our order and never saw him until we needed to pay. Friends recommended lunch for the burger at their bar next door - service there was much more welcoming and attentive. I'd return to bar for a quick meal/drinks but wouldn't pay $ for a meal at the main restaurant again. Go to SNOB instead!
This was my 1st visit at Husk and it was phenomenal! I was with a group of 4 celebrating a friends birthday. We live in Atlanta and will be going to Greenville when they open that location. I can't wait to try the burger, it looked amazing! Everything about our visit was TOP notch. Down to the personal French Press coffee we ordered with dessert. This place know how to please.
The lunch menu while good is very limited. I'm a celiac and there was only two items for me to eat. The service was excellent except for the reservationists who was not helpful and snobby. Very NY like. The drinks/wine list is exceptional and very well thought out.
The age Manhattan and the fresh grouper were both delicious.
Wanted some real southern food and this did not disappoint! Waiter offered great recommendations and they were delicious. Was easy walk from downtown hotels.
Excellent food, don't be in a hurry because the area is crowded, service was excellent, We'll be back.
HUSK has been on my Bucket List to experience since moving to Charleston, SC & it met all expectations! The service was amazing - including the waiter (Chris) who did a FANTASTIC job at explaining the details of the menu. The food was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend any visitor or new resident to experience HUSK.
We were on vacation in Charleston and Husk had been recommended by a family member and our tour book. What an excellent choice. The fresh strawberry salad and Ky country ham were divine. We shared the fresh fish that was Asian influenced. The service was outstanding and we would happily dine there on our next visit to the city.
We were visiting Charleston for our honeymoon and had been told about Husk. We absolutely loved it; from our helpful and knowledgeable and professional waiter, to the yummy bread, app, and our dinner, drinks, and dessert!! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening and stuffed ourselves to the max! Love the fresh selections and the chalkboard that tells were all the food was coming from that day's menu.
Holy fried chicken! Know what pimento cheese is? Me neither, but eat it anyway!
