Husk - Charleston
Didn’t live up to our expectations. Extremely crowded, noise level high, couldn’t get an earlier reservation so had to take 830pm, although we don’t like eating late, and even though I booked a month in advance. Table wasn’t ready for us until 845pm. By the time we ordered and got our food it was closer to 930pm. Food was good but nothing outstanding to make me want to come back again.
Just ok. Definitely not up to the hype. Sean no longer there. Better places in Charleston.
BBQ ribs were dry, over-cooked, way too salty. Almost like jerky. Server removed them from the bill.
We went for lunch. Best shrimp and grits I have ever had!! My husband had wings which were also outstanding. Servings very generous and waitstaff couldn’t do enough. We’ll be back
The food was outstanding. The historic house was charming with good ambiance. The fried chicken did not disappoint.
We thought it was very nice but were a bit surprised by the experience versus the hype. Everyone told us to go there but it was just good, not great. The food was nice but I wasn’t blown away. The service was very good and it was packed. Perhaps I just expected it to be amazing because so many people recommended it.
Birthday lunch on a girls trip
It was fabulous
Service was rude and food was mediocre. Would not recommend.
My husband ordered pork. I had the chicken. Both were overcooked, but at least the chicken had a nice sauce and flavor. The pork was tasteless. We also ordered cornbread , which was very dry and had no flavor whatsoever. We regularly eat in high end places, and I cannot remember the last time I was disappointed with a meal before today. Heard from a bunch of people that the chef recently changed, so don't trust the good reviews. It is just not the same place anymore. Unfortunately, after we ate here, we heard that it was bad from many other people.
BBQ Duck, NY strip, Oysters (half shell) and Hurricanes cocktails.
The atmosphere was incredible. What a delightful experience.
Empty restaurant due to the hurricane threat. Noticed empty tables on the top porch. The hostess would not even entertain my request for upstairs or outdoor seating saying nothing was available. Walking up to to restaurant you expect the inside to be just a fabulous as the house- it wasn’t. Food and cocktails were ok. Didn’t finish my meal or drink. Didn’t feel like my experience was better than any other regular restaurant experience. Disappointing considering the reputation.
The ambiance and service were the highlight of our lunch. Unfortunately the fried chicken was entirely too salty and the country fried steak could have used gravy. The cornbread and cinnamon bread pudding were excellent.
Great. Awesome. Amazing. Yummy. Drool...
Beautiful restaurant with delicious food full of complex and complementary flavors. Shall return and also try Nashville location!
Simply delicious and incredibly creative food! Everything we had was amazing.
Very thoughtful and unique combination of flavors in each of the dishes we tried.
Great food and service! The best in Charleston!
Expensive for the amount of food. Many more places in Charleston to enjoy.
By far the best restaurant I’ve been to in Charleston. I loved the Contemporary Southern flare in all of the entrees. The atmosphere tops it all off with an elegant, yet cozy feeling.
Would have a Michelin Star if it were in a big city. Amazing use and focus on Southern ingredients.
We have been looking forward to going to Husk ever since we watched Chefs Table. The setting, ambiance and menus were incredible but our server’s energy levels and enthusiasm were definitely lacking. Overall we had a great time and will probably return but the service certainly put a damper on the evening.
We were able to secure a “last minute” reservation at 5:45. We arrived at 5:30 and stepped into the bar next door to get a quick drink/cocktail. The bar had a really fun vibe and we’ll definitely come back and dine in there (yes, more of pub fare with pull pork sandwich or cheeseburger to name a few). We were seated for dinner right at 5:45. The menu had many interesting items and so it was hard to choose. We started with a gem tomato salad and the ham & biscuits. Both were quite tasty. The main entrees were also delicious...red snapper and pork chop. The shareable dessert was the best...warm blueberry buckle. We enjoyed our dining experience and will most certainly be back.
Great ambiance and service with an outstanding menu! From drinks to desserts, each course was incredibly prepared and delicious! We arrived earlier than our reservation and they were able to accommodate us so that we could make it to an event shortly after our dinner reservation. Would definitely return when in Charleston!
This is our second visit to HUSK. We love the local flair and knowing where all ingredients were sourced. The peach & blueberry salad was so fresh. The meat sandwich was terrific.
Absolutely delicious and well priced.
The place is pretty but we didnt really enjoy the food, service was slow and the drinks not very good. My quail was presented in such a way as to be difficult to eat, the catfish was okay but the portion too small even for "fine" dining considering the number of courses is minimal. For a place I had to make reservations for two months out there were plenty of open tables. We left hungry which is unfortunate off of a 250 dollar bill. We were disappointed and will not be returning.
Very nice.Good and service was great. All our needs were met and enjoyed
Amazing in every way! This is a don’t miss if you are in Charleston!
Food was good and service was above average. Not a kid friendly restaurant, which would like result in us not returning.
Excellent cheeseburger & yummy cornbread. Our service was great as well. All in all a wonderful lunch!
Husk was the main reason I decided to go to Charleston for a couple days! The waiter was awesome and knew the product. Next time I will have to book more in advance to get a dinner reservation. I ended up with a 2 oclock lunch but it was the best fried chicken ever!!
My habit is to eat lunch in about 10 min and get on with life. Lunch at Husk commanded that I savor each second, with the setting: garden entrance, the embracing porch, the welcome, the walk to the dining rooms, the art, the comfort, and the ambiance set a relaxed attitude. The service was perfectly attentive without being rushed or late. And oh my goodness, the food, based on low country common origins, was exquisitely layered in complexity of textures and flavors; with perfect portions encouraging a filling yet not overly so meal. Since the menu changes daily based on what is locally (generally the south east) available I won't go into detail about the pear gazpacho first and the shrimp and grits entrée. Except to say that, two hours later (the pace was totally my choice, others had different timing) I moved from the main house to the garden bar for dessert and beverage with another delightful experience including blueberry cobbler and the Wing Walker. Oh yes I do recommend this restaurant for a well orchestrated symphonic foodie experience.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant in charming old home. Dining room had very sophisticated decor making it a very feel good experience. The food was ok. Loved the pimento cheese appetizer. Hamburger which we were encouraged to order was good but nothing special. Glad we went but it would not be a place I would go back to frequently.
Amazing as always!!
One of the best meals
Excellent service, delicious food... one ina lifetime experience...
