Centrally located in historic downtown Charleston, Husk transforms the essence of Southern cuisine. Led by Executive Chef Ray England, the kitchen reinterprets the bounty of the surrounding area, exploring an ingredient-driven cuisine that begins in the rediscovery of heirloom products and redefines what it means to cook and eat in the Lowcountry. At Husk, there are some rules about what can go on the plate – if it doesn’t come from the South, it’s not coming through the door. Much like the décor that inhabits this historic Victorian-era home, the food is modern in style and interpretation. The restaurant is as casual as it is chic, evoking a way of life centered on seasonality and the grand traditions of Charleston life. It is a neighborhood gathering place for friends, and a destination dining spot for travelers seeking an award-winning taste of the South.

Husk was recommended by a friend and didn’t disappoint. Took a friend for a 50th birthday treat. Beautiful food - we had catfish and snapper for mains. Excellent service from Randy. First visit to Charleston for both of us - planning a return trip.

Everything was amazing. Our first drink was a bit watered down (dragoon punch) But would’ve been delicious with less ice. Rest of drinks were perfect! Sad to see the restaurant wasn’t still at ful capacity with tables being empty due to staff shortage. I hope that changes for them, well everyone, soon. Well done, Husk!

We had a lovely anniversary dinner at Husk. We had a drink at the bar next door to start and had to try the pirate rum punch. The drink is made from a historic recipe, and it was refreshing. We moved next door to the restaurant for dinner service. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We decided to let him choose our first and second courses. He brought out the oyster appetizer and cheese biscuit starters, and they were both were an explosion of flavor. The oysters were fresh, but arrived warm with a chili oil. They were amazing! The cheese biscuit came with delightfully pickled condiments and a stone ground mustard that I will have dreams about. The cured ham on the plate was the perfect accompaniment. For dinner, our server brought out the squid ink and crab pasta and the smaller steak entree. While I never would have picked the squid ink pasta, I am so glad that our server did. Both selections were solid and flavorful. You can tell that the kitchen pays attention to each detail and sources quality ingredients. We finished our night with a whiskey flight and cheese plate. We enjoyed the unique ambiance and elevated cuisine at Husk. It was a special night!

Tried two entrées, an app and a side. A couple of menu items I found superb, while others were just fine... not quite the culinary experience I was hoping for, especially for the price. Our server was great, attentive but not overbearing. The ambiance was a little stale. I'm only satisfied overall with our experience.

One of the best restaurants in town, specialized in southern food, from farm to table. At first you might feel the menu is difficult to understand, but everything is really good. Nice presentation. The service a little bit slow. Ambience is great. Price is ok: around 70$ each.

We visit Charleston once a year and the first thing we do when we make our reservations is to book a table at Husk. From the moment we walk in the door we are made to feel special. The ambiance is marvelous, and the wait staff is attentive and sweet. The food never disappoints. Sourced from the local area, the menu changes constantly and every ingredient is combined to create something delectable.

Every single bite of our food was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend the coca-cola sticky bun to share. It was enough for a table of 5 to have a taste and have room for our main breakfast/brunch entrees. All the dishes we ordered were both lovely in presentation and undeniably divine.

The vegetarian options were very limited and not great. They were not able to accommodate any substitutions for allergies, which I would expect for such a nice restaurant and did not appreciate. The service was very slow. Our reservation was for 6:30 and the food wasn’t served until 8 pm. Food was okay, but not great. I would expect more for the price and for the reputation of this restaurant.

We had been so looking forward to a wonderful experience. The food was ok. A few items were very good and most were just ok. It was a very expensive meal which would have been ok if all the food was really good. Unfortunately it did not live up to the press and reputation it has . We won’t be choosing to spend that much money on a dining experience at Husk again. There are better options for fine dining at that price point.

My husband and I first ate at Husk 8 years ago. That first meal was so good that we scrapped the rest of our reservations for the week and went back to Husk two more times to eat. I was excited to bring my son and my parents here for my son’s birthday this week. Had a completely different experience this time. We were seated upstairs. It was STIFLING hot upstairs. By the time the food came out I was sweating. I realize that it’s August in Charleston, but the heat inside was just unbearable. It was so warm that our water was room temperature. I knew that my Mom was going to be challenged by the menu, because it’s not really her thing, but we decided that the Pimento Cheese would be safe, because she likes Pimento Cheese. There was mention of a Chile Crisp. We didn’t know what that was or what it meant, but I figured that it would be a small garnish. The Pimento Cheese came out and they had formed a “well” in the scoop of cheese and inside of the well was a ladleful of a garlic Chile oil, with Chile flakes scattered on the cheese. Highly unusual way to serve Pimento Cheese. My Mom declared it inedible, because of the heat from the Chili. I ordered the Ink Rigatoni with Crab. There was so much Cayenne pepper in my dish that I couldn’t even taste anything else. It was just a spicy pasta. My Dad’s Snapper looked really good. He liked the charred corn that came with it. My son ordered the Steak with the onion suboise. Everything on his plate was delicious and he ate every bite. My Mom expressed her dislike of her Pimento Cheese and the manager did come over after we had the check and asked if she could get her something else, but we were just ready to leave at that point. I felt sheepish afterwards for raving about how good Husk was and how it was a MUST for our trip. I was really hoping for a different experience than what we had. Maybe the AC broke recently. Maybe it was an off night. Definitely not the same place anymore.

Arrived on time. They gave us a table in the upper floor and there was poor AC. We asked to move to another table. It took about 15 minutes to do that. We ordered our food. We asked for a vegetarian plate for my daughter and they offered sauteed vegetables. We mentioned to the waiter that we didn’t want spicy hot food as it was our first time there and didn’t really know the dishes. The food took another half hour. An hour after we arrived came the food. My chicken was raw .The vegetables were mini little cups of separate coleslaw, rice, and aubergine. Not sautéed vegetables as said. My son’s pasta was full of chili peppers, he couldn’t eat it. We commented on the long wait and the raw chicken but the manager was absolutely annoyed and said that their chicken is a different kind and that bloody is fine not raw….and about the spicy hot pasta she said she was a pepper lover so she wouldn’t know. Never will return. Great on line marketing took us there, bad food spooked us out. Wrong attitude from the employees. They didn’t charge for the chicken and the pasta.
