Husk - Charleston
All the food was very fresh and delicious!!
A must go in Charleston. Food is fresh and declicious. Staff is friendly and helpful. Portions are the right size.
Everything was very good except the whole restaurant was filled with smoke and food smells from the kitchen. We had to air out our clothing to get rid of smells. Too bad the kitchen ventilation wasn’t better.
Beautiful plantation-looking building with a wraparound porch that we ate dinner on. The interior decoration seems a bit dated, but the patio was lovely. Definitely have to have a reservation, we made ours at least a month in advance. I have a dairy sensitivity and our server was very kind and accommodating. I had a delicious pork and my husband had a delicious steak.
Wonderful meal, service and atmosphere. Perhaps best burger I've ever had.
I’ve gone to husk for years. Something has changed.... not good
The food was all perfectly cooked and came out very quickly. The waitress was very friendly and informative about the menu.
Not quite what I expected. Hostess not friendly or helpful.
Lovely interior. Portions small.
The burgers are too good to miss. Great home fries and homemade catsup. We had the cheddar biscuit drops. So decadent and so good. A great meal again.
Loved it! The food and service were amazing. Definitely recommend getting reservations early.
The service at Husk was absolutely wonderful. The staff was very attentive. We had appetizers, salads, entrees and shared a dessert. Every bite was amazingly delicious and prepared perfectly.
Beautiful place with great service but food is extremely overrated, the ribs were good but the rest was just ok.
It was excellent and had a six year old with us an they was able to accommodate something for him.
We loved Husk, and will definitely be back!
Overrated. The pimento crackers were good as an appetizer but our entrees were just okay. I would not recommend the strip steak.
Great meal. This was our first visit and we thought everything was fantastic.
Server was great, his recommendations were right on. Food was delicious, served at right temp, ect. I will definitely have this place on my list when I visit Charleston again.
Our waiter was super friendly and great at explaining the menu. But the best part...THE FOOD. Everything was so yummy. Def going to be back.
This place is simply awesome.
Pretty disappointed in the food as I was really looking forward to something special. Fried chicken was average, spices on it were excessive. Cornbread was barely lukewarm and was nothing special, especially for $8.00. Atmosphere and service were great.
We have dined at Husk when they first opened and on numerous trips to Charleston. Had always been excellent, but not so this time. Food was good but not great. Seemed like there were a number of terrines the night we were there. They sounded better than they tasted. Not sure why, maybe since Shaun has left or maybe some other reason. Service is still excellent. Will try again when in town.
My pork was very dry. My wife's duck confit was also dried out and would have been helped out by the "pot likker sauce" that was supposed to be part of the dish but was not there at all. A server unnecessarily wore an oven mit to deliver a skillet of cornbread to the table since the "hot" skillet & cornbread were at room temperature. My wife's lemon meringue
pie was a thin wafer with small dobs of
lemon filling interspersed with drops of meringue; even our server commented on how thin the 3/8" thick "pie" was, but still charged us the $9.00 for it. Poor quality food at pretty high prices. Since founder/chef Sean Brock left last year this place is obviously cruising on their old reputation and does not live up to it by any means.
The upstairs dining room with veranda is lovely. Centrally located.
They had a lot of free tables. We still had to wait 30 minutes. Seems they like to keep the waiting area full. About 70% of the tables are occupied and plenty of staff.
Starters were good, mains were ok. Bread service was a couple of reheated rolls. Went for lunch on a Tuesday.
I felt the restaurant did not live up to the hype. It had been recommended by a friend and I made the reservation a month out. We were very excited to experience Husk. Unfortunately, the food was ok; no wow factor at all. And the potato side dish was over cooked and the chocolate cake we had for dessert didn’t taste as though it was made in-house. Too many great restaurants in Charleston to choose from; won’t be going back or recommending Husk, especially factoring in the price.
Still the summit of excellence in Charleston, with service, cocktails and a menu that is as impressive as ever. The quintessential Holy City dining experience. If you have Chris or Kevin as a server, their recommendations are always thoughtful and on point.
Managed to get a 2pm lunch reservation for our last day in Charleston. We were seated promptly and got our drinks pretty quickly. However, the complimentary table bread didn’t come out until we asked for it (30+ mins after sitting) and the food didn’t come out until about 50 mins after we ordered it. When it did, it was delicious however! The cornbread side with bacon was uninspired. Not really sure where the bacon or salt for that matter was, and it was pretty dry too.
Food was wonderful!
Exquisite from start to finish.
One of the best dinning experiences I have ever had. It was fantastic.
Husk was fantastic. I have literally nothing to say could have been improved. Country ham was a highly anticipated highlight and the formidable bourbon list was remarkably reasonably priced. I can’t say if or when I’ll be back in town but I’ll make a Husk reservation before I book the flight.
Second time visiting and it was just as wonderful as the first. Thank you for making my wife’s birthday that much more memorable.
We visited Husk for a lunch date during our trip to Charleston for my husband’s birthday. we had to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready when we first arrived. We were seated with menus customized with “Happy birthday!” since I had mentioned it was my husband’s birthday. We shared the pimento cheese appetizer, which was great. The homemade rolls were very good as well. My husband had a burger and I had the shrimp and grits. Both were good, but he didn’t care for the mustard sauce on his burger. The grits were very good, I just wish there had been more shrimp as there were only about 4 pieces. We shared a piece of Buttermilk Chess pie which was good, but more custard-like than I am used to. I enjoyed the raspberry mint soda. I would visit again!
Food was great but we were very disappointed that they served the fried chicken over the wet vegetables in a bowl, therefore the chicken skin on the bottom was soggy. Sometimes it’s acceptable not to overthink dish plating.
The meal was very good. Service however was poor. We thanked the server anytime our drinks were refreshed and were never acknowledged back. The servers were unusually cold and indifferent. In a city known for hospitality the restaurant felt snobby.
Everything you've heard about the superb food here is true. What people may possibly overlook as they rave over the menu is the astonishing quality of the service. Everybody who works here is so friendly and so helpful that the diners inevitably shed their troubles and settle in for a good time as well as a good meal.
Made a reservation weeks in advance and was given what had to be the worst table in the restaurant. In the back looking out over the garbage area at the entrance to the kitchen. It was very hot and uncomfortable. This was a table that should have been used for walk ins, not someone with a reservation. As with many upscale restaurants, two men together are given a bad table. A man and woman who came in behind us were taken to a beautiful large table upstairs near the front patio doors where it was quiet and cool. After asking the waiter if he could make it cooler and getting a rude answer I asked for another table. The hostess seemed completely annoyed by my request but after a few minutes moved us upstairs. The food was great but this experience ruined it for me.
This was my second time at Husk, but my first at this location. We had a wonderful meal and experience. Will was a knowledgeable and friendly server. Everyone we interacted with was professional and welcoming. By the way, the Dragoon's Punch is delicious! We will return. Thank you for a great time.
Best meal in Charleston !!!
