Hunters' Tavern at the Tidewater Inn
Loved every minute of this place! Was a but loud, but otherwise fantastic food and service!
Nice atmosphere. The food was hit and miss - great rockfish, overlooked lamb chops.
Slow, weeknight evening visit to the grill/restaurant area - very nicely appointed and quiet and my impression is that even on a busy night, it would still be a pleasant place for a good meal. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. The menu selection was wide enough for any taste without being overwhelming. The food was well-prepared and high quality. Small but quite adequate wine list.
Reasonable prices. By the way, the bar area, well separated from the restaurant, was busy and attractive. It's on the list for next trip to Easton.
I have always liked the Tidewater, particularly to sit outside when the weather is agreeable. We were seated inside for St Paddy's day and the service was just OK. The server knew nothing about the specials we were interested in and said she had not served any. The food was also just OK. The one special oyster dish was awful but the rest of the meal was fine. Certainly did not feel like previous visits. The restaurant was busy but not so much so that it would have effected the service and food quality. I will be back but this visit was below par for this place.
Food was great as well as the service. If you're a whiskey drinker, Matt behind the bar has a lot of knowledge of whiskies and won't steer you wrong!
Overall excellent - the food plus the service made for an enjoyable evening.
Just a good place in downtown Easton to enjoy a good meal in relative peace and quiet.
We are locals and we love this place! The menu is fantastic- varied and there is something for everyone. We sat at a table and Matt was our server/bartender. He was great. The ahi tuna was delicious as was the crab cake-no fillers!!! Can’t wait to return soon!! My only complaint is that I wish there were more seats at the bar!
Everyone from the hostess to our server was wonderful. We had to call and change our reservation twice but they were so pleasant about it. Very accommodating. There were six of us and we all loved what we ordered.
Great food! Great service! Thanks, Donna! Always a pleasure to stop here for lunch.
Our experience was most positive with the exception of the following issues;
1. In spite of the theme of this luncheon being my granddaughter's birthday, I was told that the chef no longer permits birthday cakes to be brought to the meal. This was a most unreasonable demand since I did have the cake enscrolled and ready to be presented. No other restaurant has ever denied this reasonable request.
2. Due to the rather lengthy delay in serving our meal, one of our guests had to leave at 12:45PM in spite of her arrival to the restaurant at 11AM!
Good variety of local and American fare, and well presented. Service is polite, friendly, but tends to be too eager to clear off the table, even when people are still eating. And, while the sesame crusted salmon was well made (i.e. not dry) over the freshest bed of arugula, the lemony dressing did not have the least amount of soy or sesame that "Asian dressing" implies. Minor tweaks would elevate the food quality so much.
Becky was a fantastic server. Made for a very nice evening
Excellent in every way! CRAB CAKES WERE TRULY SUPERIOR. Would recommend.
The restaurant had a nice ambiance with a nautical feel to it. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive but not overbearing and had good suggestions for the food. The food was good particularly the mussels appetizers which was made in a flavorful but not dominating mushroom broth. We had the special halibut for the entree which was cooked well but nothing special and the petite fillet was tasty at the medium temleeature. However the portions were on the smaller side particularly for the price. Also the tiramisu for dessert was good but still a bit frozen. Overall a pleasant evening out but not quite the value I expected.
So enjoyed the pork schnitzel, red cabbage and spaetzle! Yum. My husband didn’t care for the rockfish he ordered, but our server Kaci graciously and quickly substituted a crab cake dinner! Perfect. Friday nite at the bar was lively and a bit loud as the crowd was having fun. Always a favorite!
Once again we enjoyed lunch at Hunters' Tavern. Had the special: half a turkey reuben with a cup of soup. I am always happy when their Oxtail Soup is on the menu ... so that was my choice. We ate in the upstairs area because the noise level is more acceptable. The only fault we have with Hunters' Tavern is the noise level in the lower dining room is too loud for conversation. At dinner, the upper area (bar) is also too loud.
Elegant setting, small but well-curated menu, attentive service. Great experience overall.
Excellent Brunch selection and presentation!! The food was cooked to perfection and the choices were there for anyone to enjoy. The staff was courteous. A go-to place for family brunch.
We had two problems at this restaurant. There was a human hair in one salad. A new salad was furnished. The waiter was not attentive, stayed in the kitchen or back of the dining room most of the time.
The food that we did eat tasted good, too bad someone in the kitchen could not wear a hairnet whenever handling customers' food. I choose not to recommend, rather than explaining a bad experience, unless specifically requested to do so.
Inexperienced staff but nice restaurant with very good crab cakes.
great lunch served well in great environment at a reasonable price
Two small quibbles with this restaurant.
Our waiter came around very quickly at the beginning, gave us our menus, told us about the specials, and then disappeared for about 10 minutes. He wasn't very attentive after the food came either.
I tend to judge restaurants by the bread that's served. I try to stay away from bread, in general, but I do like bread that's interesting. If it's grainy, or flavorful, or different, somehow (I say I like bread that bites back). I like bread that seems like it was kneaded by hand and baked right there in the restaurant, moments before coming to my table. These were bland, boring dinner rolls that seemed like the kind you buy in an 8 pack at the grocery store and then tear apart to put in a basket. I think a restaurant of this caliber can and should do better.
The good news was that I didn't fill up on bread.
Been here several times and disappointed this time. Steaks were cold and the server forgot our deserts to go. Upon leaving we discovered the missing dessert and went back to get it upon which time we were charged for our inconvieneance as they needed to get their 8 bucks for the missing dessert that I had to return to the restaurant for. The piece of cake was half the size it normally is. Looks like it was payback for complaining.
Was in Easton, MD for business. Of course, crab cakes are a must when in the area, so a coworker and I saw that Hunter's Tavern at the Tidewater Inn had decent ratings for their food and decided to give it a try. Made a reservation (probably not necessary as it was a slow Monday night) and got seated promptly. The atmosphere takes a page from the Tidewater itself, lots of understated elegance and coziness. We were served promptly and our waitress was especially accommodating, personally making a sweet iced tea for my southern dinner companion despite the fact that it wasn't on their drink menu. Our food arrived swiftly (broiled crab cakes for both of us) with mashed potatoes and green beans, all expertly prepared and executed. The crab cakes included big meaty chunks of crab with virtually no filler that were perfectly seasoned. I'd readily return and would heartily recommend. There's outside seating when the weather permits and I'd love to return on a warm summer's evening for just that experience. Check it out!
The cream of crab used to be velvetly smooth and slightly sweet. This past visit it had crunchie bits of what I am not sure. The crabcake small and slightly dry. Scallop aptitizer had 2 scallops. The bread was dinner rolls that may have been from a grocery store. I was a little disappointed with my visit this time.
The service was good and the food was excellent. It was definitely too noisy for a quiet romantic dinner, however. Too many hard surfaces (consider carpet) and diners who clearly had started drinking some time before we had. It is the holiday season, so I think that’s to be expected with larger groups. We are not inclined to return soon, though. They do get points for using recyclable take home containers.
Took my wife and my parents to celebrate a birthday. Picked a midweek night and it was very quiet in contrast with a Fri or Sat night also in December a year or so ago that was loud and boisterous food was excellent both times but this month's experience was very enjoyable since we were early on a weekday night. Highly recommend Tidewater Inn for special occasions.
Despite a large holiday group, we had great service, no wait. Our dishes were lovely!
Hostess was rude and not at the hostess station for long periods of time. Our waitress was good but again, missing for long periods of time with lame excuses. Food was very good.
This visit began poorly beginning with seating at a dirty table with chairs close to the main walkway. I did request a table change which was easily done. Our server was very pleasant but overwhelmed forgetting to put in our appetizer order. It was clear that the dining room was understaffed with the servers and bus staff almost frantic dashing from table to table. My rockfish was well prepared and warm but the rest of the meal was cold. This fine dining experience was not that and I charge the management with that responsibility.
Good drinks, good food!
The Tidewater Inn is a beautiful old inn and the tavern gives you the feeling of stepping back in time. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, modern and yet rustic. The bar tenders really know how to make a great cocktail and the local brews offer a nice selection of IPAs to porters. The Thanksgiving buffet is outstanding. It is reasonably priced and one can eat their fill of local FRESH oysters on the half shell as well as shrimp, salads of every sort, a charcuterier table, local crab or butternut squash soup, roasted turkey with all the trimmings and beautiful desserts.
Absolutely wonderful dining experience as always.. great food, drinks and service!!!
The staff and management catered to the people off the street who came into the restaurant/bar rather than the people who had made reservations well in advance ( months). I realize that the Waterfowl Festival was going on, which is why we were there, but if the staff cannot manage to take care of the people who make reservations, then there should be no reservations. If we had known what the situation was going to be, we would have gone to another restaurant.
Outstanding! I cannot wait to go again! The restaurant is cozy, the wait staff knowledgeable and friendly, the food delicious!
Had brunch, steak and egg option, food was tasty but the steak was very tough, both orders. Eggs and potato's excellent. Bloody Mary's were great. Service, had a trainee so hard to judge. A bit slow.
We were gathered in Easton for a family funeral. Had dinner twice at this restaurant. Both evenings were most pleasant, food very good, and servers among the warmest and friendliest ever.
My wife & I had a wonderful, pre-theatre, dining experience. Service was excellent -plus and our server's timing was impeccable. This was our second time at the "Hunter's Tavern" at Tidewater and we will be back again. We come to the Avalon Theatre as often as we can and enjoy dinner before a show.
