Awesome find! Totally worth the drive. The food was good. The atmosphere was charming. The outdoor seating was awesome. We will absolutely be making return visits!

Overall, a great pub. Ordering was somewhat chaotic because some patrons apparently did not fully comprehend how to order in a typical pub even though there was a staff member present explaining the procedure.

Cozy atmosphere and excellent service to celebrate our engagement! Our favorite dinner spot after a day exploring the local wineries. We will be back!

A delightful outside lunch with three friends from Leesburg! Also, you may wish to know that when we reconnect with longtime friends for a long overdue gathering, Hunter's Head is often the suggestion for meeting! One of these days, I will order something other than the veggie quiche, but it's just SO good!

We love Hunter’s Head and tonight was another great experience! Service was phenomenal as was the food. Their bread is amazing and chicken pot pie is one of the best. My husband loves their fish and chips. A really cool place to eat!

I enjoyed sitting outdoors looking at their beautiful garden. I had the cheese quiche that was served with a salad with a delicious light dressing. My husband had a salad with chicken which was huge and also very good. The bread served at our table was an extra treat.

I have been to Hunters Head many times and always had a good experience. I seldom eat meat but their meat here is exceptional so I ordered a burger, cooked medium well. It came raw in the middle. I sent it back and was given a new plate with the burger cooked as first requested with an apology from the staff. My complaint was handled well so I was satisfied. Everyone has a hiccup once in while.

Charming country pub - even to the point that you order at the bar just like in England. Stick to the classics - I was a bit disappointed with my salads- a trio - tasted a bit to heavy on the dressing and possibly not so fresh. Great service and lovely atmosphere.

Finally, a French dip that isn't too salty on the au jus.
Fries and sweet potato biscuits were delish.
thought the artichoke dip was a bit flavorless.
Outdoor dining was fantastic - even if the chairs there were a bit uncomfortable after a while.

My friend and I had a great time and shared lots of fab food!

Friends drove up for a visit from Roanoke, and we drove to Hunter's Head from Stephens City for a fabulous lunch out under the tent. Casual atmosphere and a wonderful server! Food was fantastic.

We reserved for Sunday brunch at 11:30, thinking we would get there before the 12:00 rush. However, there was a line and a little bit of a wait. I suggest studying the menu before going, because they have the menu on the wall in a cramped area and you have to look over the heads of other guests to see it. Then you place your order at a window and they gave us a wooden spoon with a number to place on the table. However, the order came fairly promptly and the waiters were attentive. The Eggs Benedict were perfect. The restaurant prides itself on being green (three stars) and for recycling. The ambiance is very ye olde hunt country. Luckily, we had chosen low tables, because the high tables were in the central room with a lot of traffic and it seemed a bit cramped. They also had a large tented area for outside dining.

It took close to an hour between ordering and being served dinner. After all that wait, my wife’s filet was cold and over cooked. My pork chop was fatty and of low quality. Side dishes were generally over cooked and forgettable. Way over priced for what was served. Service was decent.

I had brunch with 3 friends. We had a cozy corner table like I requested. Food great and service wonderful after we ordered our own food. Found it strange that you have to order your food near the bar and then they bring to your table. After you are served food you have full service. Don’t order Creme Brûlée Too sweet and soupy.

Hunter's Head Tavern is a great destination for lunch, brunch or dinner if you want to spend a day exploring Middleburg and the Northern Virginia wine and horse country. It is a cozy tavern with high-end pub food, much of it locally sourced, and interesting bar offerings. There is a patio in the summer and fireplaces in the winter. Worth the trip!

We like to include lunch at Hunters Head as part of a day excursion to Loudoun Wineries and Middleburg shopping. The diverse menu pleases everyone - pub fare such as shepherds pie, healthy choices like the creative salads and traditional sandwiches and burgers. Either the soup de jour or the french onion soup are worth the drive alone. I personally think their Rueben is outstanding. Because they are part of a working farm, the fresh and quality ingredients give everything that extra flavor; I always think of this restaurant with a warm smile.

As always, a delightful, special casual evening. The dining rooms with fireplaces are cozy, there is no overhead music to challenge conversation, and the historic atmosphere is a plus. Can't wait for warmer temps, and opening of the patio dining area.

We went for tea. The tea sandwiches were made with cold sandwich thins, not bread. The smoked salmon was good, but there was nothing else with the smoked salmon, nor with the cucumber slices, no spread of any sort, not even butter. The tomatoes looked like force-grown - no taste and colourless. The scones were good. No way was that an English tea. Very disappointing. Would not order it again.

Year after year, Hunter's Head continues to roll along serving safe and welcoming fare. The outdoor seating area works nearly year round with a sturdy tent and heaters. The salads are fresh and crisp and not smothered in dressing. The onion soup could benefit from additional melted cheese, as well as the replacement of the featured croutons with the delicious bread served at the table to improve the authenticity of this dish. The chicken fried steak is a fat, smothered mess and oh so very, very good. It is a great spot for an Easter brunch.

This is usually a nice choice for something different but this last trip missed the mark. Our food was flavorless and unremarkable. I sent my eggs Benedict back and didn’t order a different dish because the first time around took much too long to reach our table and we didn’t have all day. I munched off of the other two entrees at the table but overall we left really disappointed. I DO recommend because it’s usually a good place. But maybe they aren’t paying as much attention to the food quality anymore. Give it a try, but if you leave disappointed don’t say that I didn’t warn you.

We came in with a group of 9 and the staff were patient and friendly. Our waiter was that perfect mix of fun but professional. The atmosphere is cozy. The room we were in had a fireplace and all kinds of fox decorations. The food was delicious and much of it locally sourced. Good beer selection.

Hunter's Head Tavern is our go-to place to eat when in the Middleburg area. We enjoy the cozy atmosphere, especially when there's a fire roaring in the fireplace on a cool day. Everything we've eaten here has always been very delicious!

Worst dining experience in a decade. I received my cocktail while it took the wait staff another 30 minutes to figure out how to make my wife an old fashioned. Her liver and onions promptly followed while I waited another half hour for my bangers and mash. Wouldn’t have minded but we were the first table to order!!! After years of following their inconsistency we’re done. It isn’t worth the drive or the effort. Moving on.

Hunter's Head Tavern is a fairly authentic English Pub experience. Set in an old historic home, the atmosphere is casual friendly. The food is very good, with most items being supplied by an organic farm very close by. Seating is communal in feel even though your party has its own table, because you can hear all conversations going on around you. After all, it is a tavern. Our group had great fun. It was our friends' first visit, and we are already talking about going back very soon. I'll ask specifically for the same table as it was in front of a fireplace and we all enjoyed that very much. Our server was one of the best I've ever had. He greeted us with "hello folks" instead of the contemptible "hi guys" which I despise. We were after all, a party of two men and two women. For a more romantic, special occasion, there are smaller private rooms that will most likely fulfill expectations. There is also a fabulous stone patio for outside dining with lovely gardens sweeping up a gentle hillside. We have enjoyed several delicious meals there already, and our friends are looking forward to joining us outside as soon as weather permits. Overall, we are anxious to return!

As always, it was a treat to dine at the Hunter's Head. First, I strongly recommend making reservations as, based on happenings in the area, the place can get packed. And while I enjoy dining solo at the bar, this time we opted for a table for two. It was a chilly day so I opted for an old standby - the Chicken Pot Pie, which featured large pieces of white meat chicken, fresh veggies and a wonderful pastry topping. It was well served and the staff was terrific!

Even doing her for over 18 years! Worth the drive out to Upperville (12 minutes west of Middleburg, va). Historic pub/resturant with amazing beautifully prepared pub food. Chicken pot pie, Shepard’s Pie, Bangers & Mash are among our favorites. The patio is a perfect seating for warm weather dining. And the service has always been attentive and beyond exceptional. Perfect for a date or a family gathering.

The food and service are excellent. We love the quaintness of the restaurant. This restaurant has been a family favorite and when returning from living in England for many years the children fancied the place right away. Now that they’ve grown up and left the nest my wife and I come on special occasions to enjoy the food and be thankful for the memories. Our hope is that the restaurant will continue for many years to come.

Second time here. Been a few years. Took the wife and teens. Nice comfortable table by the fire. Warm and cozy. Friendly Staff
Three orders of Fish n Chips Small portions of fish and large portions of chips that were borderline awful. Must have been the bottom of the barrel and the oil was oil. The chips were mostly little pieces about 1/4" to 1/2 " in length. Dry and not at all like Real Chips in a British Pub.

One order of Shepard's Pie. Again a small portion but somewhat tasty.

Might come back might not. Its local place for us so might give it them a third chance
