Fabulous place! We enjoyed our food, drinks and dessert. Everything was great!
Historic, charming old colonial home transformed into a cozy tavern with excellent food offerings and a considerable bar--I look forward to many future visits! Outdoor, covid-safe spacing available as well for those concerned.
Just terrific! We had Gary as our server and he was excellent. Great menu selections. The fireplace was burning in the facility. From the bread to the drinks, soups, main courses and dessert— all we great. Generous portions.
Great Covid-19 friendly space. Our waiter “Gary” was exceptional. We all had a great time and great food.
Great atmosphere! A warm fire on a cold day and the best fish 'n chips in the area. Service was the perfect amount of attention.
Outstanding service, amazing food and a great ambience. Will visit again soon!
Most enjoyable. Beautiful drive to location. Our server was most helpful. Will look forward to our next visit.
Food and cocktails where creative and delicious! We had Gary as our server and he did a great job. I have been in food and beverage my entire carrier (FOH) and can truly appreciate steps of service and how hospitable he was. Thanks again and we will be back!
Loved this place! It’s like you are in the English country side.
The Hunter’s Head Tavern now bills itself as a Gastropub. Our server explained that means a more international menu. Well, we still find the place honey snd welcoming. The staff is great and the food, largely organic, healthy and locally sourced is delicious!
We ate at the Tavern for a birthday celebration. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there. The staff was attentive and friendly. Food was very delicious. We had the beef pot roast and the chicken fried steak. The beef pot roast was very tender and the wine reduction sauce excellent. The chicken fried steak was not greasy, perfectly fried and the gravy delicious. We ate inside in one of the rooms where they had a fire going in the fireplace, very cozy.
Had an awesome birthday lunch! Food was delicious and it’s always nice to sit next to a little fire in the fireplace. Very relaxing!
As usual, the food was wonderful and the service as well. So nice to have safe, outdoor dining under cover and warm. The go out of their way to please!
When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly COVID conscious staff and were seated immediately.
Our waiter took our drink orders quickly and was extremely attentive without being intrusive during our dinner.
My wife and son had roasted duck as their entree while I had beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes and Brussel Sprouts.
I have to say, anytime potatoes and spouts can hold their own against a great tenderloin you truly have a awesome dinner on your plate.
Every thing that came to our table was so good and enjoyable. Pretty easy to see The Hunters Head does not employ a cook but does employ a chef or chefs. We were not disappointed at anytime.
Thank you for a great New Years Eve dinning experience.
Excellent food and drinks. Everyone was wearing masks and keeping an appropriate distance. We felt very safe and were able to truly enjoy ourselves.
The restaurant was quiet and the service was great!
I was very disappointed that the “outdoor” dining was in an enclosed tent. There were tables set up outside the tent but we were told no wait staff would serve those tables.
We opted to get our food to go and have a picnic at the unattended tables. The food was delicious, as always. We were just very disappointed by the enclosed, unventilated nature of the advertised outdoor dining. Someone in our party was immunocompromised and we were hoping to have a fun night out after nine months at home. Alas, did not happen.
Food was fantastic. Promise of “outdoors,” not so much.
What a beautiful colonial tavern with great food and wonderful service! We just moved to the area but have been here twice in one week. The chicken schnitzel was delicious and my husband enjoyed the fish and chips on both visits. The very original cocktails are fun to try also.
Food was ok, not a great value for what was paid. Service was lacking.
Great service!
Hunter's Head Tavern is one of my favorite restaurants! The ambience, food and service are always outstanding! The Shepherd's Pie is my favorite entree. I especially enjoy going there on a cold and dreary day to sit by one of the woodburning fireplaces.
We always enjoy our trips out to Hunter's Head, and this was no exception. Our daughter's 18 birthday celebration couldn't have taken place at a better venue. Hunter's Head is doing a great job with their pandemic dining response as well.
This was our first visit and we were very impressed! The service was outstanding. Everything on the menu sounded good! We loved they had seasonal and fresh items. Our dinner was better than expected. We will definitely be going back!
This hidden gem was amazing and the staff was incredible!!! Already sent my family there during their visit to Middleburg-wonderful and charming! :)
Good service and good tavern food as usual. Good to see the tables more separated and menus at the table, rather than waiting in line to order due to COVID-19. We certainly appreciate the concern.
Hunters Head has been a favorite of mine for years. Food and service are always good, but on my last visit, I was quite surprised to get an upcharge of $6.00 on the "Titos" martini. I think the server should have informed me that there would be an upcharge for this brand of Vodka.
tasty food. beautiful indoor decorations. town is neat.
Gary was the best waiter I’ve ever had! I will go back and I will rave about the restaurant because of Gary.
Drinks were strong and it was the BEST chicken fried steak I’ve ever had. Cannot recommend this place enough!
Very nice experience. Food was great. We would definitely recommend to friends.
HH is always a delight. We sat outside (for COVID safety) and it was just wonderful—service, food, and ambience.
If you are looking for outdoor dining, Hunter's Head is the place to go. A large tent, plenty of heaters and an attentive staff made the meal really enjoyable for us. Plus the food was yummy too! Tables were locally distanced and lots of air circulation. COVID-19 friendly outdoor eating in Upperville.
As usual, a great place for dinner with classic ambiance.
As always the experience at Hunter's Head was amazing. The cocktails, food, and service were excellent.
Great service and great food and drinks!
What a lovely restaurant in beautiful Upperville Va. We enjoy the “happy hour” menu immensely. The food is delicious and one can’t beat the price. We are so thankful that this wonderful restaurant is able to remain open albeit with restrictions, as it really uplifts one’s spirits after a visit here.
My wife and I visited to celebrate my birthday. We were seated quickly and service was quick and courteous. We ordered appetizers and entrees. The appetizers arrived quickly and were delicious. Unfortunately, our entrees arrived only a few minutes later and mine (Bangers & Mash) were cold. They were sent back and reheated.
All in all, is was an OK visit but not up to Hunters Head’s usual high standards.
Good menu and really good drinks!
Excellent selections with top choice ingredients, savory tastes, remarkable service and atmosphere.
We were taking some friends there for the first time. Last time going back.
We were there fo my wife's birthday and she ordered the $42 steak, supposed to be medium . . came back "bloody, almost raw". Our server Dylan agreed. Also, the meat was chewy, hard to cut with a knife.
Dylan asked if she wanted it re-cooked, or to get somelthing else. She ordered the chicken breast. While we waited for the replacement to come, and my wife insisted that we eat. By time time the replacement came . . everone in our party had completely finished our meals.
Another in our party ordered the chicken pot pie . . which came to the table luke warm at best.
I expected that a manager would come by to at least offer his apologies, maybe offer dessert as an accomodation. That didn't happen.
They did take off the price of the steak, and charged for the chicken.
Bill with tip was $328 for 4 people.
Not going back . . tell your friends.
