Really enjoyed the atmosphere here. A cozy little place with fantastic food and exceptional service. The Brussel sprouts were incredible.
Really nice tavern for a Sunday brunch. We met our son and his wife there. Love that there is no rush and it is comfortable and cozy.
The meal was great except the dessert cake, which should have been moist, was hard and dry. The steak and other dishes were great, however, and I can't think of any other places around that really evoke that tavern feel in the same way.
I think it was overpriced. The sides were overcooked and boring. The meat was excellent. We have been there before and the food is good but I definitely think it was overpriced.
Thanksgiving dinner with my daughter. Everything perfect, as always. Great food, service and atmosphere.
Usually enjoy Hunters Head, sitting outside in the nice weather is great. This last experience was below par, bratwurst was dry and overcooked, waiter seemed harried, empty water glasses etc, even though we were the only people in the dining room, maybe it was because it was the day before Thanksgiving. Will try again but they can do better.
It's become one of our favorite local restaurants. The staff has a great attitude and the food is top notch.
Always great food! We are regulars at Hunter's Head.
Great service and amazing food! Loved the ambiance and quaint setting/layout of the restaurant!
Over all we found it to be pretty average food. My order was not eatable, it was just melted cheese with a couple of noodles with a few of specks of vegetable. When one thinks of farm to table you would think food would be a bit more fresh.
Hi There! I'm the gal who came to lunch at Hunter's Head and had the 'Menu' fall on my face back in October. You very graciously sent me an apology and 3 certificates to lunch at your restaurant. My friends, Loretta Schmitt and Jerry Schmitt, joined me on Friday, November 15 for lunch at noon. The drive out to your place was so calming. When we arrived, we were made to feel welcomed and we order three entirely different dishes. My Shrimp 'n Grits, Loretta's bratwurst, and Jerry's Liver and Onions were each yummy. All in all, we enjoyed our time, food, and employees who were so kind. Made the accident of the menu falling on my face seem trivial and all of us send thanks for a lovely fall day in Upperville.
Great food and service. We love this restaurant because it is also quaint. Great for a romantic evening or a small gathering with your close friends.
I made a reservation, got there early and had a great time at the bar waiting. But the table was upstairs, which we have done before also, except it was freezing cold. To the point we all ate dinner with our jackets on and my mother (78 years old) was shivering at the end. We asked about a heater that was in the fire place but the young server could not figure out how to plug it in. I love the Hunters head and it was a birthday dinner, but freezing our butts off definitely detracted from the experience.
Nice English Pub with great food! Our 3rd time visiting and very pleased with our meals.
The food was amazing!
I always enjoy lunch at Hunter's Head. Tried the onion rings for the first time during this visit and they were outstanding!
Food was crazy expensive and really not good. Chicken, I am told, was dry, and my $18 salad was iceberg lettuce, 2 kinds of beans, overcooked salmon and a few bits of random veg. I could have made it myself. Staff were nice and accommodating, but the ordering system was weird and counterintuitive.
A warm comfortable tavern, definitely unique in northern Virginia. Food is always delicious and other than the standard pub fare, which is wonderful by the way, the menu is varied enough to keep you coming back to try something new.
Best smoked duck ever. All 4 meals were enjoyed.
For our meal on Friday, 18 October, 2019, the Swiss steak was so tough that it was not edible and after just one bite we had to exchange it for another entree. The service was fine, the ambiance was pleasant, but most people choose a restaurant for the quality and types of selections on the menu.
We came for the advertised Oktoberfest fare. Our guests are regulars and ordered Cobb salads. In hindsight, I should have done the same. The sausage platter was mediocre at best, with overcooked meats and minimal sides - think of sauerkraut in a condiment serving container, a few grapes, and stale soft pretzel nuggets. Not to mention, our food was not served at the same time. I had been before and had a good experience so this visit was to meet friends and a first-time visit for my husband. Will stick to the regular menu next time.
Loved the English pub thing, great time, great food, thanx
Perfect for any occasion. Chicken pot pie, Guinness beef stew and sticky toffee pudding. The best. Everything here is excellent. Parking can be a challenge on Friday nights and weekends but worth waiting for a spot!
Very casual and a bit noisy but overall a fun experience. Good food and service at a reasonable price.
Great. Always great drink, food, and people.
Awesome food (bread was a surprise and amazing)! Great drinks! Very unique experience!
We had a wonderful experience and would love to return! We'll most definitely be recommending it to friends! Thank you!
The fish (fish and chips) was outstanding. The onion dip was outstanding. The chips and Caesar salad were not as good as usual.
The service was great.
Service is very spotty... no water refills without asking and no ice tea refills etc ..... food VERY POOR...… ordered some pizza thing....served COLD and doughy.... French fries burned and stiff.... this place used to be OK , but has really gone down hill our last few visits... will NOT go again !!!
First, I love Hunter's Head Tavern and it's our go to restaurant for all family celebrations! Unfortunately, for this time around, it appeared to be everyone else's go to restaurant, as well! With the unique way of ordering at Hunter's Head, there was an excessive number of people waiting in line to order in a relatively small amount of area. For the first time, even with reservations, with the number of people already in line we were unsure if we should stay in line or have them seat us first, as suggested by the first person who finally acknowledged our presence. Unfortunately, without comprehending that even after being seated, we would then have to stand back in line, we chose the being seated option. Our waitress did provide menus, but made clear she was not taking our orders from the table. So back in line for all of us! While I would suggest they review the convenience of taking orders from the table for all customers, the food was absolutely wonderful and made the rest of the inconveniences worth it! We'll definitely be back with more patience knowing that the end result is fabulous!
Being told this was the place to go, I would not hurry back.
The place is interesting and cozy, the service is good. Young staff and friendly. Unfortunately, they seem to get stacked up and backed up. We had to ask more than once for items - such as a glass, utensils, and condiments. Our food arrived cold and over salted. Maybe when there is not such a crowd in town they will have more time for the details.
One of the best taverns in all of Virginia. The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is excellent, the staff is accommodating and friendly. My wife and I had gone to HHT a few times and really liked it, so we decided to host a Gender Reveal party there. We had 13 guests in total and were accommodated with our own room and HHT was kind enough to provide us with a special cake for the occasion, which turned out to be excellent. Everything was just perfect. Highly recommended.
Absolutely loved it here. And their patio is very dog friendly, so she was also welcome.
Best food and great atmosphere
The ambience and physical structure of the building was charming… However the food was very mediocre. The onion soup was at best average and the chicken in the salad was full of Cartlidge
This restaurant is one of our "go-to" places for a good meal in a cozy, quaint setting. We love the rustic and warm ambiance and the food is always good. Wonderful meats, fresh vegetables and salads, excellent pastas and desserts.
Most enjoyable evening. Love coming there as do the guests we bring.
Excellent food and service. Enchanting atmosphere and vibe. Always great!
A local favorite‼️
good food and nice atmosphere. I liked the British pub ambiance.
