We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.......beautiful garden! We will definitely be back!
The precautions about wearing a mask and social distancing were terrific. The staff was wonderful and the food was outstanding.
Great farm to table restaurant with nice atmosphere, fantastic food and staff, beautiful patio.
This place was ideal for lunch! Great food and fast service. Definitely will return!
Hunters Head was great as Usual! Good Food, Good Atmosphere and Good Service all in the little town of Upperville.
Food was bland and lacked presentation. Beautiful place but needs a better chef.
Good food, great service. We had lunch in the garden. Everything was tasty. We had a great time.
Excellent food, service, and cleanliness. The food here is so good, time after time.
The food is decent pub food. The English pub atmosphere is wonderful! Eating there is always enjoyable. We were glad to see that masks are required except when at your table.
Excellent as usual. My place for fish and chips. Great desserts also. Highly recommend.
My out-of-the-area friends who visit love going to the Hunters Head.
Lovely dinner in a quiet, peaceful setting. Food was very good as was the strawberry shortcake for dessert! Staff pleasant and service was quick. My daughter and I love meeting up there for dinner as it is convenient from either direction for us. Highly recommend! Love the menu too and the fact that many items are locally sourced.
My husband was disappointed that the tavern was out of so many choices on the cider and beer menu. In addition, the bread wasn't ready until the very end of our meal which was disappointing. Overall, the staff seemed overwhelmed by the business that day even though there were only two tables seated indoors, totaling five people. Since we sat near the kitchen their hurriedness was a bit annoying.
We were so looking forward to our dinner here. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed.
Drink orders were taken. The 4 of us ordered the same drink, vodka and red grapefruit juice. When they finally came out, one was made with regular juice. The wait staff never asked if that was ok, just left them. They were all watery.
Next, 2 wrong orders were brought out. While we waited for the other no one asked if we wanted another drink.
Finally, the orders were correct. We had to ask several times for condiments. The food was mediocre at best. Service was sub-par.
The only positive was the lovely patio. But there are other lovely patios where the food and service are infinitely better.
We thoroughly enjoy a meal on the beautiful Hunters Head patio. The huge portion fish and chips are always excellent! Bread is wonderful and salads are usually great!
There are many young new servers currently so be prepared for young service.
The same may be true of the kitchen. Fried chicken is $22 for one drum and a thigh. We found it under seasoned, barely warm and very thickly coated with a batter that begged removal. Mashed potatoes are the real deal. Green beans were petite and perfectly prepared! I would have gladly traded my chicken for extra green beans!
All in all it’s a fun local experience.
What a great little restaurant with an old world feel to it! We really liked it, and look forward to going back. All 5 stars.
Lovely place in wonderful historic setting, great service from a young and enthusiastic team, Good beer selection, food was let down and was only average though. Would be a phenomenal restaurant if the food was better.
Excellent...always has been. The food is great and so is the service!
Was recommended the breakfast poutine over the fish and chips- should have went fish and chips. My husband loved the poutine, but too rich for my no gallbladder body. The calamari appetizer was delicious. Overall a good time and we’d go back.
The staff are terrific and the food is outstanding.
Relaxing Alfresco dining experience, I would highly recommend the Hunter's Head Tavern. Traditional British Pub fare with an attention to fresh local ingredients.
Waiter was essentially a young man who had no idea what he was doing, interrupted us, could not fill waters, could not get the orders correct, could not bring silverware.
Also, we asked for 5 different glasses of wine on the menu, only to be told they were changing wine menu, so I guess it is time think about reprinting the beverage menu.
The patio ambience was nice, but that had nothing to do with the food service, or beverage menu.
Always delightful! My pups and I can’t wait to go back!!
We enjoy this place very much and were looking forward to returning safely. Our table outside was lovely and good distancing between tables felt safe. However, our waitress kept moving her mask up and down, covering her chin but not her mouth and rarely her nose. I looked away every time she approached our table and spoke to us with her mask on her chin. I expected better compliance with the state rules and wish now I had been able to confront her or just gotten up and left the restaurant when it became clear that she was respectful of neither social distancing nor covering her face. We are very sad we will not be able to return to our favorite ‘pub’ for the foreseeable future.
We love Hunter's Head, and we are so delighted that it is open again. At this time, we are only comfortable with outdoor dining and reservations, so this was perfect! We enjoyed our lunch, but I surely hope that the wonderful quiche will return to the menu (my favorite!).
We had lunch outside and ordered the fish and chips and a bacon burger, and a huge slice of chocolate cake. The service was professional and efficient.
Food and drink were fabulous, as always here. It was great to see their efforts to distance and santize. We felt spoiled.
The food I ordered from the lunch menu was excellent! The crispy chicken Katsura sandwich was perfectly prepared and the sweet potato “chips” were perfect in taste and texture. I also loved the watermelon margarita.
The outdoor setting was beautiful and peaceful. The tables were a nice size, the chairs were comfortable, and the surrounding plantings were beautiful.
The waitress was friendly, responsive, and efficient.
Lovely evening spent for my husbands birthday. The only 2 things that were not great: Mains were served whilst we were still eating our starters. There was also another guests with a dog that kept barking (not the houses fault) but it ruined the quiet outdoor dining we were trying to experience.
Overall food was good. Lovely friendly staff.
been going for a long time and it never disappoints Calamari was perfect. Staff was great and smiling beneath their masks. the outdoor seating is wonderful
Father’s Day, my wife was taking me out for dinner, with our grown kids now living out of state. We love the old world ambience here, and we’ve never been disappointed with the food and libations. It’s a long drive from home for us, but it’s a unique place, so we don’t mind once in a while. We waited too long to get reservations, unfortunately, so the best time available was 4:15pm, which we grabbed. Because it was between their lunch and dinner times, we had fewer menu options available to us, and none of the Father’s Day specials. I ended up ordering the fish and chips, and my wife got a build-your-own burger. Our server was friendly and helpful, but so busy that we did a lot of waiting to order and to receive our drinks and food. I won’t order the same thing, if we come again, as I was not impressed with my choice this time. My wife enjoyed her burger, but it wasn’t worth the price or the drive. It’s a long way for us to go for nice ambience and just decent food.
Father’s day dinner. Server - Kyle fantastic! Stew geeat and flavorful and filling. My husband had chicken fried steak and thought needed more spices.
Coming back this week though as everything was still great and sanitary!
My husband and I celebrated his birthday with a lunch at the Hunter's Head. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. We ate in the couryard and this could have been a better experience for us if we had not been seated right in front of the entrance to the restaurant where we experienced all the flurry and activity of the servers carrying meals out to other diners. The courtyard is otherwise lovely and a quieter spot would have earned a five star for our experience.
food was simple but elegant, tasty... service was courteous and warm, restrooms clean, well stocked
We think the quality of the food has suffered since the last time we ate at Hunter's Head. This may be attributable to possible staff changes because of Covid.
Had trouble keeping server attention and she didn’t understand Fish and Chips usually includes Ma
Lovely outdoor venue and good food, nice servers. Thanks!
