Great Food: Veggie option, excellent spinach wrap. Also I ordered delicious blue cheese burger. For drinks ice tea and bloody mary. Server is really helpful. And St Patty's day special feature was Jameson Girls with samples. Excellent!
The only good thing were the oysters. The trout had an off-fresh taste as did the fish n chips. Never again..................
Great meal at good prices. Excellent service. Good solid wine list too. Rediscovered this place after having not dined here for 20 years. Generous portions and convivial atmosphere will keep us coming back.
Enjoyed some nice veal milanase and rockfish for our 2 meals.
We've been coming to Hunters a few times a year for nearly 30 years. It's changed. At first my fish was overcooked, then came undercooked, and a small portion for $30. The sides were mediocre at best. We had a reservation, for early on Saturday evening but were seated near the kitchen even though the restaurant was empty. We were told that the better tables were reserved. I don't believe that most patrons who had a reservation also reserved a table. They make the best manhattan's & comos in the metro area - if we come back it will be only to the bar for drinks at happy hour.
Hunter's Inn always has good food at lunch. The service was a little slow this time.
Private dining room for our group. Great ambience and low noise level. Food, service, and drinks all very good.
That Hunters Inn is a nice neighborhood spot and I have been going to it for years. That being said, I was disappointed in how much the lunch prices have increased. Three dollars for a small bottle of Diet Coke? That is highway robbery. Also I always get the southwest salad with chicken for lunch and it used to be $15 and now it is $21. It is not worth $21 by any stretch of the imagination. This is Potomac, not downtown DC. The place needs cleaning, dust is apparent on all the surfaces in the dining room and in the bar area. When I worked as a waitress in my younger days, the manager would not open my section until the entire section had been cleaned and all the silverware, condiments, candles were dusted and polished. I really like this restaurant and I hope they will take the time to make sure the restaurant is clean and inviting and rethink their lunch menu prices on some of their items.
Very attentive service on Italian night. An excellent meal deal with very well prepared dinners that even includes wine!
Lots of choices on the menu. Very nice staff, quick service, good everyday dining
Nice bar and grill. Grilled Salmon was good. Ruben was ok. Needed to be toasted more to melt cheese and toast bread. Apple crisp was special dessert and was excellent. Nice local pub.
Ok place. I probably will not return since there are better restaurants in the area.
Hunter's Bar and Grille is top-notch as per my evaluations. Great food, excellent service, comfortable and appealing ambience.
We enjoyed a good but not great dinner 2 nights ago. The rockfish with glaze was not great and certainly not worth the $30 price. The scallops were better and the salad was good. The ice cream selection is very good and many tasty flavors - the highlight! Perhaps the better choice would have been the beef selections. Zach, our server, did a fine job.
We really enjoyed our special occasion dinner. The special was great- NY steak, and my daughter loved the kids’ menu- spaghetti and meatballs. The waiter was so pleasant- he even helped my husband tie his tie so that he’d look fantastic at the Father-Daughter Dance that evening.
Always excellent service. Food is great and the variety keeps us coming back
Severely overpriced and under portioned. Their Chinese entrée salad was basically a pile of iceberg and not much bigger than a side salad. Other entrees looked like glorified kids meals. We were seated in the bar which is usually ok, it was very loud and definitely in need of a good cleaning. Cocktail prices rival upscale steak houses.
We went to Hunters Inn for Thanksgiving. The food was okay. Neither the turkey or fish or stuffing tasted homemade. The pie was served cold. Why would a restaurant like Hunter’s serve cold pie? 15 seconds in a microwave would have made the desert much more enjoyable. A scoop of ice cream rather than a dollop of whip cream would have been even better. Overall, we like Hunter’s for the atmosphere and their regular menu. I think the Thanksgiving fare could have been better.
came for fixed price thanksgiving. $43 seemed on the high side for the limited offering.
We enjoyed our lunch. The service was good, the food was good, the atmosphere was nice. It was quiet and relaxed in the dining room. The only problem came later when Open Table emailed me asking why we had failed to show for the reservation. I suspect the problem was that the hostess failed to record our arrival even though we identified ourselves as having a reservation. What had been a nice lunch left a bad aftertaste when the restaurant reported that we were no shows.
My husband and I went out with two friends (another couple) on Sat night. I asked for booth/window seating, so we were placed in the bar area. Unfortunately, around 6-8 p.m. it was still "happy hour" mode and it was pretty loud. We stayed through b/c the seating was comfy and we didn't want to move. Everyone enjoyed their entree but me. I was so excited for the chicken marsala. The chicken was very thin and the taste in the marsala sauce...non existent. My husband loved his filet though. Recommendations: offer a cocktail menu, lower noise in bar after 7:30, and work on that marsala dish sauce a bit more. :)
Appreciated being put in a quiet room (as requested) so we could talk without having to yell. The food was fresh and tasty. Vegetarians in group were pleased. All were satisfied with the experience.
This is a mixed review. I enjoyed my chicken Marsala. My husband had ordered fajitas because it was Mexico night. He was used to a large tortilla on a heated plate with Avacado , sour cream and he was very disappointed.
We will try it again because it was a relaxing, comfortable and friendly place. Old style.
The food at Hunter's Inn is generally pretty good. This was the first time I went for brunch and the food was really mediocre and overpriced. I will stick to lunch or dinner there in the future. Their burgers are the best around.
Service was not good. The room was noisy, a substitution from a veg to fruit was an extra charge;not told to us by waitor. We had to ask for bread and the kind we wanted they ran out of.
Always a wonderful evening. Great food and service
Had a business meeting in private alcove. Great service and food was presented well and was good.
Our group of 3 arrived on a day when there was a special dinner menu that included salad, entree, and glass of wine for a fixed price. This was a very nice "deal", and we all participated. The entree choices were also on the regular menu at a slightly higher cost for one item without the other two, so we had very good value meals! The person who delivered our salads got them wrong and we didn't realize it until after a few bites so just kept them, but other than that, the meals were fine. I had hoped to use an Open Table reward credit, but, though it appeared that Hunter's Inn was a participant in this program, the management did not honor it. It used to be easy to use an Open Table reward, but I have had trouble on several occasions now with this new program.
Great Brunch. Only on Sun. Eggs Benedict, best in town. Generous portion. Also, very good Sat. lunch. Half price Burgers , beer and some other drinks.
It is a great gathering place with good food and drinks. Excellent Cosmos! Fun place to go with friends. The bar area is nice for hanging out with a group. Nice ambiance.
I had a wonderful meal due to good food and a wonderful server. My whole party ordered the roast chicken and we all agreed how delicious it was. The raisin bread was a perfect enhancement to our cocktails We had a birthday girl with us and she got a free dessert with a candle. The night we were there wasn't crowded so we enjoyed having great conversations without having to shout and could hear only our own voices.
While visiting on a Saturday night, the service was clumsy (we asked for a few additional items like mayo that never arrived, the server was working quickly among several tables), the food seemed mostly frozen and reheated vs fresh (burger and chicken kebab on rice pilaf), and we needed to speak in raised voices despite the restaurant not being crowded. It also felt like it needs a good scrub - the menus felt greasy, the carpet had crumbs on it, the front door windows were smeared, etc. I'm sure it was once a good restaurant but needs a fresh eye, particularly given the prices.
Our waiter, Paris, provided great service and was very friendly and accommodating.
They have good food, and the service is great. It is a nice place to meet for lunch.
Waiter was Wonderful.... However, the Hostess was Rude and Obnoxious! I have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with that old woman before. I suggest getting a much younger and cheerful person to do her job (Which could be just about anybody!) Will seriously consider other locations before this one in the future.
Excellent steak, amazing portion of excellent crab in the crab cocktail, and same with the scallops. Good value, especially for the location. The service was very attentive, helpful & friendly without being too much. Nice meal near home.
Had lunch w/ a friend and we each ordered a burger. Food was great and service friendly and prompt. Highly recommend you give it a try!
The restaurant was totally unprepared for the crowd on Valentine's Day. Took almost an hour after being seated to receive appetizers. Roast Beef was extremely overlooked and when we returned it we were told they had no other portions. Owner said why don't I get you a steak and then when the bill came they upcharged us for the steak they offered to get us. Waiter apologized many times for the terribly slow service. While we waited for our food did not even offer us bread or anything else to eat. Nice restaurant but may not return given the experience.
on open table We booked a table for two and when we arrived we requested a booth in the bar area. The owner said because I booked with Open Table that I couldn't get a table in the bar area and would have to sit in the main dining room. He said to just call him if we wanted to request that area.
We eaten there for years. How could this very poor welcoming service be explained?
The four of us were very pleased with our brunch, especially the eggs benedict.
