Hunter's Bar and Grill
Way too expensive for what you get. Alright food but a $17 salad without a protein is crazy.
Great food. Our whole family loved it, young and old alike.
Three diners: salmon, seafood & pasta, cheeseburger - all very much enjoyed
Best burgers anywhere!
Good food, nice staff. Older crown, outside seating, bar area seemed lively! I had the Trout Amandine which was great. Chicken Marsala was good as well.
Great neighborhood convenience
Go on a Saturday! Half price burgers ( best in DC area!), and half price margaritas!! Yeah Bayybeee!!!
Bountiful, delicious salads! Warm, comfortable atmosphere. Would definitely return for another unhurried lunch date. Easy to have a conversation as the tables and booths are spaced well.
Great neighborhood place. Friendly with outdoor patio to take dog! Always welcoming
The noise level was low until the restaurant filled up, especially related to a large, noisy birthday party.
The same held true for service, excellent until the large party arrived.
A good place to go to enjoy dinner and be able to carry on a conversation without shouting. Very nice.
My firiends and I had a lovely time. We loved the relax atmosphere and the nice quiet room. Each of us enjoyed our luncheon salad very much along with the BBQ sandwich chosen by one of the patrons. We were surprisingly pleased with the complimentary order of the outstandingly delicious bread pudding for dessert for the birthday lady. Many thanks to HB&G for a wonderful afternoon.
We arrived on time and was immediately seated. The server was helpful and provided us with all the necessary information in order to proceed with our order.
This is a try once and then don't go back. Pretty tasteless everything. Also, much more for a senior crowd than people who are looking for good food. Staff was nice but limited number of servers. The guy busing the tables worked like crazy. "Beefsteak tomatoes" were slices of small hard grocery store tomatoes. Salad dressing had to be bottled. Might be a good place for a burger but don't go for a "dinner."
Perhaps worst experience I have had. We were celebrating a friend’s 60th Birthday. We called ahead to request a candle and that the bill be given to us. We confirmed the requests when we checked in. When the candle failed to appear and I visited the hostess, she claimed that she knew only about the check even though it was she that we spoke with when we checked in. After that, one would assume that we would get the check delivered to us. Nope. Just plopped on the table. I went to complain, and the owner came over. He shrugged his shoulders, blamed the server, and went back to his drink at the bar.
Service was attentive. We were seated immediately, even though we were 20 minutes early for our reservation. Shrimp cocktail was excellent--and included five large shrimp. My spaghetti bolognese could have used more spaghetti and was a little over-spiced. My friend's scallops were excellent, but there were only five and they were on the small side for sea scallops.
Nice neighborhood spot, good to know about if you are in the are. 1/2 price wine bottles on Tuesday night. Chicken Marsala was so-so. Caesar salad was quite good. Service was great!
Although the service was excellent, the food was mediocre. Personally, I thought it was a bit pricey but, given its location, I suspect it was on par. It is, however, a good choice if you wish to easily converse with one another.
Fun local place. Good food though can leave a bit hungry due to portions. Still a regular once a week or so
Great neighborhood joint! The bar is always lovely and the dining room is perfect for conversation and comfortable.
A great spot for dressing down for a burger and beer.
delicious burger, well made bloody mary and excellent service.
As always, enjoyed our dinner experience. We brought a friend who was just thrilled with the food and service. Thank you.
It was great, as it always is!!!
We were pleasantly surprised. This was the first time that we went to this restaurant. The service was great and the food was exceptional. We intend to return in the future.
Recommended for a burger and a beer. Food was ok, nothing bad just ok. The place was okay
First time here. Great casual neighborhood feel and food was great. Not foodie, but interesting touches available and good quality and variety. Great for casual date night or family dining. Super friendly hostess and waitress. Was a little surprised when we got charged for scoop of ice cream on top of our pie - was worth it but found the a la mode charge a bit unusual. Great that they take reservations and we will be back.
Early bird special:
I understand that hamburger sliders are small hamburgers, but these were so small that they were hard to find. The hamburger rolls were certainly big enough.
We love to go on Friday nights for fried chicken. It’s finger lickin’ good.
Normally, we have a blast at Hunters but Valentine’s Day just was not their night. Food and service were very average. Kitchen was very backed up and orders got mixed up.
We have dined at Hunter's many times, but our service has never been this poor. Items forgotten and some served late...perhaps, a new waiter (didn't recognize him). There were others around us who also commented on this fact.
This is a cozy, old-fashioned wood and leather restaurant. So it's charming. It ought to be quiet but the few times I have been there, there have been tables of boisterous patrons that were annoying. That's not the restaurant's fault. The Southwestern salad was delicious. Waiter was attentive.
This was not Hunter's best showing - the waitress did not ask how I wanted the meat prepared, was clearly disappointed when we did not order alcohol. And truth to tell, the lamb was overcooked. But Hunter's Dining Room has some of the best ambiance in the area, and provided the same. Our food was indifferent, but we know Hunter's is capable of better.
One of my favorite "go to" restaurants. Always fresh food and good service. They make the BEST martini's in town and they are huge.
Hunter,s just gets better and better. Food, service were just tremendous. Thanks to all the staff and the owners.
Love their attention to customer dietary preferences without complaints. My salt-free hamburger and sweet potato crispy fries were worth the snowy night visit to this destination!
Pasta, fish& chips, salad all very good. The soy based salmon sauce oozed into the bed of rice & was too sweet ( no contrasting tastes) The veal Milanese special was ok.
New Year’s Eve dinner
As advertised the best martini, and the biggest, in the area. The roasted chicken is worth the 30 minute wait, absolutely deliscious. An abundant menu which has a terrific selection to fit your tastes.
always dependable, fun place to eat, very much a neighborhood restaurant.
