Food was good enjiyed the salad prepared table side
Pork was real good and tender the ribeye was ok a little stringy for the price.
It’s an upgrade from Outback Steakhouse but not yet at the level of a true steakhouse
I will go back
Pricey..could have given more prime rib for the cost. The “horseradish” sauce tasted like wasabi...not really a place I would rave about it to friends.
When I crave a good steak or prime rib, Hunter’s Steakhouse always comes first to mind. Consistently a good value and delicious meats. Love the salad prepared and served at your table. There is a reason Hunters has lasted almost 50 years in business!
Good quality food in a casual atmosphere
Very pleasant and cordial staff. Food was wonderful
We had the best time, best waitress, and best food combination possible.
We had a great time visiting with friends and we really appreciated the very good service we had. The food was prepared just the way we liked it....Perfect!
My husband and I have eaten at Hunter's a few times and really like the food and we've always had good service. My husband said if he could eat there every day he would.
The reception was disorganized but at least it did not take very long to be seated for our reservation. This was then followed by a very disappointing meal: soggy calamari appetizer, greasy ribs, soggy and not very fresh Cesar salad, poor quality fried onion rings, completely gross and likely recycled from last week scalloped potatoes, and finally the rib eye steak was actually a rather tough NY strip but they did not seem to know which cut was which. Not impressive for a steak house. The server tried to be very helpful but was quite inexperienced. Overall it was not really worth price, even granting that the prices are reasonable.
The lobster was over cooked and not chewable; the ribeye steak was tough! The quality of the cut of meat was terrible. The server was sweet but she was so overworked that our service was slow. Just choose to hopefully never go back!
Comfortable dining experience
Food was ok. Service was below average. Had to ask for bread for the table. There was a happy hour/early diner menu that was never offered to us. Had to wait for our drinks. Restaurant is old and smells like it's moldy, especially when you first walk in. Carpets are dirty and walls and tables are scratched and need of updating. Ordered the prime rib and it was tough, not the worst I've had, but not good. My son had the Hunter sized filet and it was good. Veggies were overcooked and soggy. Shrimp appetizer was good, as was the bread and honey butter. Really wanted to like this place...
Excellent food for a reasonable price. The table side salad is a worthy tradition. Open Table reservation was seamless.
We have been going to Hunter for many years. The Lamb Chops and Prime Rib are our favorites and this time they were the best ever! We'll be back......
Needs to be updated. It is old, it smelt old, the tables were worn out. The table side salad was interesting. The waitress makes your salad and drops a lot of it on the floor. It was cold which is good. The main course was ok. My husband got the filet, it needed a little salt. I got the tips, the sauce was good. The broccoli was cooked perfectly. We won’t be back.
Great Experience. Would recommend to a friend. Pricing was right and quality of food was excellent.
Came for the prime-rib. And it was very good- even split in two.
Valentine’s Day expected it to be crowded. Front house staff young inexperienced. Attempted to sit us at a table that could not be used. Wait staff moved us. Five minutes later there were 5 open tables. We saw interactions with two other parties that were also very confused. We like this restaurant but under pressure the staff seemed unprepared.
The steaks are very good. The parking is limited, especially on holidays. However, there is always room at the park and ride across the street. Overall it is a good place to dine.
I had dinner twice in one week at Hunters and it is awesome everyone I go there! It's just a few blocks from my house and I recommend it to everyone! Sadie was our server both times and she's a gem! 😄
We all HHS’s French Dip and all enjoyed. Great service and atmosphere. Will visit again
Nothing very exceptional. Prime rib ok but vegetables were limp and tasteless. Probably won't return.
We went for Restaurant Week, and it was well worth the price. We had a four course meal at a very reasonable price.
Wonderful food for a very affordable price. Restaurant week menu was great and they had a wonderful variety. They give you a great amount of food and the service was excellent!! Definitely will be coming back soon!!
We went during restaurant week. We enjoyed our dinners prime rib and sirloin steak perfectly seasoned and cooked.
service was fair, server was friendly but a little on the ditsy side, she took two other table order before us, even though we were sat before the two parties and was forgetful. Steak dinner was tough, and au gratin potatoes were a miss, no taste. I have had steak before at this location and it was good, The only thing that saved the meal was the salad & bread.
We always enjoy dinner here. Best prime rib in N. County, maybe the entire county! fabulous salads & sides. good wine & beer selection. friendly staff & good service.
Visited Hunter’s Steakhouse with my daughter (almost four), cousin, and uncle. The hostesses were a little cold when we arrived, they did not greet us. I’m not sure if they were new. Our server provided great service. Our needs were met and she delivered our drinks and food fairly quickly. There was a little delay in getting the food ordered, but the dining room got pretty filled up. Would definitely return again.
Prime Rib way too fatty
Next time will try steak. Perhaps a better value
Meets and at times exceeds expectations. Service is always "Spot On" - Kitchen is sometimes unpredictable, but not bad, and that is usually based on the amount of guests. Bar is never a disappointment, and management is always ready to step in and make things right. This is my "go to" place for casual and comfortable Prime Rib dining, along with the "table side" salad!
great food, friendly service, highly recommend Hunter for a fine dinner and evening out
Food is amazing! Definitely make a reservation because it gets crazy busy. Service wasn’t the best. Server was really nice but clearly swamped the whole time we were there. Best steak in North County though!
We had Rib-Eye and Prime Rib with salad, vegetables and baked potatoes. The Rib-Eye was burned twice and left without eating it. The prime-rib was okay. We were given a $5 discount for the Rib-Eye. The service was good and was appreciated. We expected better quality from a steak place.
The service was great and friendly. The steaks are cooked to yours specifications and are nice cuts of meat.
Great option to discuss business.
Wow!!! What a nice find. I am not from the area, so, this restaurant was a shot in the dark. as it turned out, it was great!!! Friendly and cordial reception, quick seating and great waitress. Next time I'm in Oceanside, Hunter's will be on my list for dinner again...Oh yeah, the food was great!!!
Can’t be beat! Great cuts of steak at a reasonable price. Make your own generous salad. Warm bread served quickly. Spot on service. Only complaint was that they need more parking! Our group left happy and satisfied.
good old fashioned steakhouse for locals. pleasant atmosphere
Five of us dined there Friday evening. First the parking was a big problem. Our wife's had the prime rib that was excellent, cooked well and tender. I had the NY strip that was cooked well but very tough (disappointed). My son had the rib eye steak that was overcooked and chewy. My grandson had the half rack BBQ ribs which he liked. The service was very good and the wine excellent as well. When one dines at the Hunter Steakhouse in Oceanside order the prime rib!
Outstanding Food and I will return, it was my second return ,
