Hunter Steakhouse - Mission Valley
We found Hunter's to be a good old fashioned steak house and that is difficult to find these days. It was rather dark and a bit dreary inside but that may be intentional. It reminded us of an English hunting lodge. The food was very good and our server was outstanding.
Worst steakhouse I have been to. Ordered the porterhouse steak to medium and recived a very thin steak that was well done on the filet side and rare on the new york strip side. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Ribeye steak was really good, chicken linguini wasn't good, chicken was dry and no taste. Loved the bread and caesar salad was good. Ordered glass of pinot noirs and served with small carafe which is perfect. French fries was good but lukewarm.
Had the 4 course meal great value
Food was average but service was quick and attentive.
Excellent food, great staff, great food especially the prime rib. Will come here again next time we’re in town.
The waiter needs some training. He was frequently gone too long, and wasn’t serving or clearing properly.
The food is very poor. No always the same. It is hit and miss herre.
We made a 6:15 pm dinner reservation for 4 and upon arrival were seated immediately without any wait in spite of a full lobby and busy restaurant. One of our party members was a vegetarian and while their selections were somewhat limited they were able to fully enjoy their meal and raved about the tastiness of a chipolte mac 'n cheese dish they ordered. I ordered the lobster, as I had enjoyed this dish during a previous visit a few years ago. The restaurant had since switched from providing a single large Main Lobster tail that they provided during my previous visit and now in instead provided two smaller Australian Lobster tails. It was not quite as good as I remembered the previous lobster tail being but it was delicious none the less. The service was great in spite of the place being packed. I certainly recommend this place to those that like traditional steakhouses. My only regret was that I was looking forward to that enormous Main lobster tail I had previously experienced a few years back and it seems those days at this restaurant are gone.
Food was EXCELLENT and our server was on top of everything.
Overall very good but felt a bit rushed.
The decor was outdated. For the price, it didn’t feel nice enough. Place was casual and we felt overdressed. We also added that it was our anniversary, but no one mentioned it. Our server was great; nice personality and attentive.
I made reservations at the last minute they easily accomodated me and my husband. The food came out fast and hot. The meal was good to the but needed to be seasoned a bit more for my taste. The service was prompt , courteous, and helpful. We will defintely be visiting here again.
We enjoy Hunter when we want a predictably excellent meal. This visit it was Easter. We also go to Hunter for birthdays and our anniversary.
Thank you for a continued quality experience.
We waited at the bar downstairs until our table was ready, the bartender (awesome) he offered us a table there, was so cozy, fireplace was going. Our waiter was Jeremy, he was great! Food was good, loved the dinner table salad bar. Would totally go back!
The foods not always the same. I have taken guest and the food and service was not good.
Great time Paul was our server and was very personable. Only drawback no mud pie 😞
Food was excellent, but need more staff on a weekend
This was a first visit for my husband and I, plus my sister and her husband, so we were all new to the experience. The waitress and the hostess greeted us warmly, and our waitress was very attentive. Good service. The overall prices were average for a steakhouse, but $30 for add on crab legs was s bit of a wow. Our $14 appetizer was small and not worth the expense. My husband's prime rib was a beautiful and generous standard cut, cooked perfectly. My ribeye did not have flavor- someone forgot seasoning? My sister enjoyed her salmon. Overall, the bill was $174, and that was with no alcohol and no desserts, so I think we will try somewhere else for our next get together. Good service, cozy atmosphere, average food.
I don’t normally eat steak so I didn’t know exactly what I would like! But our server was amazing with helping me through it and explain each steak for me and answered all my questions! The food turned out amazing and it was a wonderful atmosphere! Definitely will be coming back:)
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Hunter Steakhouse. Sal, our waiter, was extremely attentive and accommodating. The food was great and the price reasonable. I would go back, but I put will probably never be in Mission Valley again. My loss!
We love Hunter Steakhouse! The lamb chops are the best!!!
Just had our 15th wedding Anniversary and was taken very good care of! THANK YOU!
There are a lot of over-priced steakhouses in San Diego. Hunter Steakhouse is NOT one of them. Great value for tasty food. Our waiter was incredibly responsive. We'll be back.
Great Food and asome Service!
Decor is dated, dark, and worn out. One young man at reception desk pleasant but sloppily dressed. Gives bad impression. Service staff friendly. Meals overpriced for the quality. Prime rib was adequate. Rib eye was tough and dry. Onions undercooked. Salad drowning in dressing. Will not go back.
Server: Christina; friendly, knowledgeable, and great personality +++
Love their real wood fireplace in the dinning room. Great food and service.
I have dined at Hunter’s Steakhouse many times over the years and this was the first time I have ever been disappointed! Both my wife and I ordered the prime rib, she the petit cut and I the standard cut. Her’s came as two thin pieces medium as ordered. However mine appeared much rarer than medium, was very stringy, very hard to cut and even harder to chew. I sent it back and replacement cut was better but still not up to par. Sent it back a second time and finally came back medium and edible. However it still did not measure up to their usual standards. That being said, it will not deter me from visiting again.
Always superior service and exceptionally delicious food.
Food, service and value were great. First time I have been here in over ten years and it's still a great place to take friends. Four topnotch dinners and an appetizer sampler for just over $100.00.
Great Food!super service!
The dining room with the large fireplace is definitely in need of a good cleaning and paint job. The "host" was some dude who was on his cell phone and could care less - in fact we had to find someone to seat us since there was no one in the lobby. Yes, it was a Monday evening, but this place has gone down the drain - we come here a few times a year and the decline has been steady.
Great Food, Gonzalo is Asome!
Hunter Steak House is our favorite place to go for all special occasions. It was my wife's birthday and she really enjoyed her time there. We have never had a bad experience there. Thanks again Sammy , San Diego
I was great food was an old time feel and was a great place to go eat
Food was great. Good price. Nice atmosphere. Waiter was amazingly nice. Filet mignon wad really good and tender. Recommend this place.
Traveling for business with six colleagues and stopped in for a nice dinner. We were all very impressed with the food and the service.
We have been patrons of Hunter Steakhouse for several years. Our entire family considers it to be a top 3 Steakhouse in San Diego, if not the best! I personally like that it has stayed the course. Not too many locations. It feels like a special night out every time we go.
Food was out standing, service good, good evening over all
Go there the food is good.
