Hunt Club Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Filet was overcooked for having ordered it medium, but the lobster and app were very good. Weak beer menu. Very nice dining area, but our server wasn't very enthusiastic and the manager walked by our table about 20 times without ever asking us how our food was. For a $200 dinner, I expect better.
We had the grilled shrimp appetizer and it was excellent. I ordered the triple tenderloin that was melt in your mouth tender and tasted great with all three of the different toppings. I added a lobster tail to my order and while the lobster was very good, there were only a couple of spoons full and it was hard to get out of the shell. As a result, I ended up with a couple of bites that had a small piece of shell in them. For the price of my meal, I was disappointed that it did not come with at least a salad. My date ordered the lobster ravioli, which was a new addition to the menu and it was decadently good. The service was excellent and our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered great advice. We will definitely go back again next time we visit the area.
Both the food and service at The Hunt Club were outstanding. Our server, Cynthia, was both friendly and helpful and made sure our meal was excellent. The steaks were excellent and perfectly cooked, and the rest of the meal was really enjoyable. We will definitely be back on our next visit to the area!
Hunt Club is a consistently nice option for a good meal in Lake Geneva. Menu is pretty traditional, but well-executed.
What I truly appreciate is the staff--they are excellent. Our waitress was accommodating to requests to split dishes--and attentive without hovering.
Recommend, especially off season when not so crowded.
Beautiful place. Historic building that has been kept up and turned into a beautiful steak house. The staff was incredible. They brought us a special dessert for our anniversary. The wine list is top notch. So many bottles to choose from. Saturday is the prime rib special which was delicious. Highly recommend.
The mansion was beautifully decorated for the holidays and easy to find. We were thrilled with the grilled shrimp cocktail--grilling added a taste we'd not thought of before. Table-side service of the lobster bisque built up to a delicious experience. My husband ordered the filet and it melted in our mouths, meanwhile, I had the pork chop special and loved the seasoning. Our server knew we were celebrating a birthday, and brought my husband ice cream for dessert (a surprise :-) ) The wine list was extensive, most of which is available by the bottle only, but several options are available by the glass. We left full, happy and impressed.
We go here regularly, the steak was excellent as always and the Brussel sprouts. We ordered the twice baked potato at $9, it arrived cold, nothing worse than cold potato, told the server, she proceeded to explain to us how a twice baked potato was made, whilst we were trying to enjoy the rest of the meal before it also got cold, we did not know what her point was ,told her we know how it should be and to please just take it away, she offered to heat it in the microwave ! No Thanks we do not expect microwaved food at the hunt club. It all seemed very strange and spoilt the meal out.
Weak anniversary dinner with high expectations.....two entrees were unavailable, recommended wine by staff was unavailable after we ordered it and service was adequate but nothing special for the price of the restaurant....Happy Hour, while crowded and loud sometimes, is the better option.....
We went on Saturday night Dec 16th 2017, every year when we go lake geneva we eat at the Hunt club. This year even though we did not stay in LG we drove to the Hunt club for dinner, we live in Woodstock, IL. We had the mussels for a starter and they were great with some Italian sausage in the broth. My wife had the Salmon and I had the Saturday night special Prime Rib. My wife really liked her Salmon and I was a little hesitant for the Prime Rib because sometimes it can be fatty and not much meat, but this was the opposite and the best I have had. I always get a old Fashioned and it is great there, my wife had the prosecco and it was also good. I recommend the Hunt club to anyone that would like a great dining experience.
I took my son for their Thanksgiving dinner and was very pleased. Normally, restaurants shorten their menu and hike up their prices for special events. This was not the case at the Hunt club. There was a very good prix fixe menu and, in addition, a variety of entrées and side dishes available as well. The prices were reasonable, the food was very good and the service was outstanding; friendly and attentive without being bothersome. Both our server Laurie and the manager took great pains to make sure we were happy with our meal.
My wife and I were there for our 39th Anniversay, our server was great! The bread is was good. The grilled shrimp cocktail was good. The Kansas City $58 steak was one of the most tasteless Pieces of meat I've had in a very long time. I can't say we're spoiled because we usually eat steaks at Hugos Frogbar and Gibsons. Because even Longhorn had a much better steak for less than half the price. We were two of only 9 people there on a Friday night at 7 pm. That should have been our warning sign.
