I had a mai tai. It was excellent. The sashimi plate was very good. The entrees tasted great. The kids even get a cute Humu fish as a keepsake. And the kids meal comes with ice cream that is value added.

It is hard to beat the setting at Humuhumu and we have been going there for almost 20 years but this was probably our last trip. My first complaint is that I booked on OpenTable and noted that it was a special occasion, my wife & I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. I thought that might have gotten us a nice table, but we were seated as far back in the restaurant as you could go with no view of the sunset (which was one of the reasons we had made the reservation). And we passed many nicer open tables on our way to our dark table. First strike. The second strike is that the prices have just gotten egregious. I ordered surf & turf, the entree was listed on the menu at $95, ok, expensive but I knew what I was getting into. Our waitress asked me if I wanted to upgrade from a 5 oz filet to an 8 oz filet without mentioning the price increase. When we got the bill the entree had gone to $124. To me, adding $30 to an already expensive entree for a couple more ounces of beef is just over the line. Sadly we won’t be returning. FWIW, the food quality was very good although my side a garlic rice had way too much garlic, but the filet & lobster were excellent and perfectly cooked. The service was also good. I can afford to eat anywhere, but I was raised by parents who grew up in the depression and no matter how much money I have, if the prices seem like they are gouging their customers, I get offended. If you are price insensitive, you might enjoy this restaurant.

We heard the food and service was not as good as in the past but we were surprised. We sat in the bar and watched a beautiful sunset and then went on to a table and had a spectacular meal. This is one of our favorite places every time we go to Maui and we were not disappointed.

Beautiful restaurant conveniently located on the Grand Waliea property! We dined here on Valentine's Day while staying on the property. I was somewhat disappointed in the service. It took a waiter quite some time to greet us and take our order. He seemed rushed through out our meal. I made the reservation months in advance and requested an ocean view. This was not honored. They offered a special Valentine's Day menu but no additional decor, flowers, etc. The food was very good but there are other restaurants on the island that exceed this restaurant in service and food quality. The experience just did not stand out as special to us especially for our Valentine's choice. Again, both the Grand Waliea property and this restaurant are both gorgeous and do offer great ambiance!

We reserved online many weeks prior to our arrival and included a request to have a quiet, romantic area table with a sunset view. We were placed in a table literally surrounded by tables with young, loud children. We had a very rushed, inattentive waiter. He poured out initial glass of water, then left a bottle of still water on the table and we had to pour our own. Once the bottle ran dry and and taken away, we were not given another until we requested. We waited 20 minutes for a second cocktail, which did not arrive until our starter was completed. A glass of wine which was ordered did not arrive until the main dish was delivered and partially eaten. We never offered coffee with dessert. This experience did not fee like and elevated dining experience. which it should for the $240 bill plus the automatic 20% tip added. for a party of two. A total of $284 for a very disappointing experience.

Went to Humuhumu for our 30th wedding anniversary dinner. The service and food were excellent, just as they had been in the past. Diane our server did a great job, she was openly happy for our celebration. the food was excellent and they have a great wine list which we took advantage of. This is a great special occasion restaurant.

HumuHumu was ExpensivePooaPoo. Food was overpriced. Four seared Ahi tuna pieces about the size of a silver-dollar for over 50 dollars. No one cleared our table. Including the appetizer plates, who does that? Philippe was good, atmosphere was terrific.

Wonderful feeling to restaurant, staff friendly and efficient. Food comes fast and dessert was disappointing, described to “implode” and be very impressive, did not happen caramel sauce wasn’t hot enough to melt chocolate. Told waitress with not much reaction. Overall though very nice experience.

We chose Humu because it looked a lot like Kauai’s Tidepools at the Hyatt where we were for our honeymoon. Great service and the sirloin melted in your mouth!

It was by far the worst food we have eaten on the island and is was incredibly expensive. So many other places to eat and we will never eat there again. The menu is limited and the dining tables are ridiculous. They are so low to the ground that you have to eat your horrible food hunched over.

It is a lovely setting. The meal was not good at all. The fish was somewhat rubbery. The chicken was almost raw. The presentation of each dish was good but more time needs to be spent on preparation. We probably won't go back.
