Fantastic location, wonderful food and great service! It is pricey but good.
This was one of the greatest experiences we’ve had dining out. We were celebrating our friends kids birthday and Humu blew our mind from the get go. They set us up at the “kings table”, table 70 which already set the mood for our night with unbelievable views and privacy and our party was speechless. Everything went smoothly from drinks, to ordering, suggestions from our server who was also a sommelier and picked a nice bottle of wine for our table. All in all it was a fantastic evening and will never be forgotten. Thank you Humu!!!
Great spot right by the water with an incredible view!
Humuhumu has everything dialed in but the food. It was mediocre at best. Not worth the money until they figure out what’s going on with the kitchen. Service and ambiance were lovely. Bread basket was dry and the surf and turf was underwhelming, to say the least.
Lovely place and very friendly staff
Food was average in taste, experience, service, and ambience was outstanding.
Service was exceptional, food was lovely, our waiter was fantastic
Incredible experience! Had such a wonderful time and the food is absolutely amazing! Everything was out of this world! Great great experience!
This was the most expensive meal we have had on the island and by far the worst in terms of food. It was not good. Not good at all. The service was good, but not the food. We would not go back there.
Great experience! Great sunset! And Larry our server was excellent!
Food was incredible!
Birthday. But we didn’t order dessert since there was a big cake waiting at home.
Such friendly welcoming service especially for the Keikis who loved their Humu Humu fish stuffie at the end of the meal . The setting is beautiful - immersion into Polynesia with sunset views has a glimpse of Grand Wailea’s luau. Highlights were the octopus, stone fruit risotto and lobster and fish ramen w egg. Worth the visit !
We ordered some food, I ordered for starter the poke, I thought it is regular poke bowl with rice, it was just the raw fish. I’m not a fan of raw fish, but this was all raw fish and I did not touch it. I told the waiter about my mistake right away.
I ordered the lamb chop for main course, before ordering I asked the waiter how many chops are in the dish and he said it will be 4. When it arrived, it only had 2 chops. When I asked why, he went back and then replied he asked and they gave me two “double” chops. So they gave me some veal chops, not lamb chops, and only 2, not 4.
When the bill arrived. I expected something would be done about it after the chops mistake and since I disliked one dish. At least remove the desert from the bill. Nothing was removed from the bill. I have no problem paying on expensive restaurants, but I expect a top notch service when I do. I had to actually ask the waiter about the bill, which was kind of embarrassing. He did remove the poke and desert from the bill, but I would expect it to be removed without me asking, since the waiter knew about our issues.
So to sum up, the food wasn’t great (it wasn’t bad either), the service was not good enough for the restaurant price ranges.
Would pass, unless they stepped up their service game a lot.
Every time we come to Maui we go to Humuhumu.... I love the ambiance of the restaurant and the gorgeous sunsets. Food was excellent as always. We started with Ahi Sashimi and scallops - both excellent. My son had blackened Mahi mahi, I had Julie chicken and my husband had the lamb chops. All agreed the food was excellent! We were celebrating our 13th anniversary so the restaurant brought us a beautiful dessert that resembled the forest.
Everything we expected and more, the atmosphere was amazing, the staff were lovely and friendly and the food was so delicious.
A super location, especially about the time of sunset. Very attentive staff and a good menu choice. Food was delicious. Also, you are not rushed during the time you are there.
The view and the food was amazing! Overpriced but worth it! Ashley our server was the highlight of our experience. She was sweet and kind a super knowledgeable about the food. She even recognized me at the pool the next day and said hello. What a great time.
This place has always been best in class all around. This time, the food was disappointing. The salad was so salty, inedible. The meat wasn’t even luke warm and had zero flavor. The dessert, service and ambiance great. But for an $87 plate I expect it to be delicious and hot. Felt so robbed of an awesome memorable night in Maui.
Everything was fabulous great food great service great views. Enjoy the mushroom forest dessert!
Horrible service. Took 3 hours to eat. Delicious food, but won’t be going back.
On vacation we ate at the lagoon it was beautiful
You come here for the view/ ambiance. I was charged full price for my 5 year old without anyone asking me her age as all other restaurants my week on the island did (kids 5 and under eat free at this and many resorts). Generally speaking the food was unremarkable, especially considering the price. I did enjoy my desert. I would maybe just return for desert or drinks in the future.
Amazing venue. Like no other. Even the walk down to the restaurant is a beautiful experience.
Humuhumu is a wonderful restaurant with great ambiance and ocean views. The only thing is be aware of the prices. It’s not cheap. I took my girlfriend there for her birthday, and it was really nice to go to a restaurant right on the ocean. We looked at the menu online so we were prepared for the prices. We had the chicken, ($39.00 for a good portion of chicken on rice but nothing else, no veggies). The food is tasty, but you are really paying for the ambiance.
The location and setting are what draw you in. It’s gorgeous, and the views of the surrounding pond and ocean are amazing. But Humuhumu makes you pay for that view with high prices for tiny portions of food. The few bites of food were good. We ordered the scallop appetizer, and though it tasted good, it was two small scallops cut into halves for $24. That’s $12 a scallop. The service also didn’t merit the price. We spent half the evening with empty water glasses on our table. Overall, a disappointing dining experience in an amazing location. There are better places to eat in Maui with equally good views.
From the moment we pulled up to the grand Wailea , my girlfriend and I were treated like royalty . From the trip down to the restaurant to getting our car back , there is not one negative thing to say. As a server myself, the bar is set very high, so when I say that the service was exceptional, you should take my word for it . The food was outstanding , my partner and I had the pork belly and the octopus to start, both juicy and tender to the point of absurdity. We thought that surly there was no way for the appetizers to be topped but the Kona kampachi proved us wrong. The subtle crunch of the soft shell crab against rich yet delicate flavor of the fish and the squid ink risotto... dear god.. it may just be a last meal request. All of this with an absolutely stunning view of the Maui sunset. This is a must when in Maui .
Great atmosphere on the water, totally open
Just....over priced for quality of food
The food was delicious & the service exceptional. We were there at sunset. Absolutely breathtaking!!
We have eaten here 10 times in the last 3 years and have always enjoyed. New chef and new menu as of a couple of weeks ago. Not impressed at all. Too many restaurant choices in South Maui. Won’t be going back until something changes
The worst service. Didn’t bring drink. Never offered bread service. Appetizer and meal served within first 30 minutes. Dessert took an hour.
LOVED everything about it. One of our favorites! We always make this one of our stops on our vacation!
Who knew that Hawaiian breadfruit would make the most delicious risotto ever!? Humuhumu did! Oh and the “mushroom” dessert was gorgeous, clever, and delectable! Excellent service as well.
Maybe it was an off night for this establishment. Waitstaff was overwhelmed and restaurant was not crowded. The busboy (man) dropped and broke glasses twice while we were seated.
Octopus appetizer fishy tasting and smelled same. Entree’s below par for price. Unfortunately this was not a memorable meal for anyone at our table.
Great experience, food was good and our waiter was great. The ambience there is amazing.
Hummuhummu is always a special treat comprised of beautiful setting, delicious food, and outstanding service. They accommodate all of our food preferences and sensitivities graciously and provide a meal we all appreciate.
By far the best dining experience!!
Our waiter was very attentive and patient. Excellent service!
