Beautiful ambiance, great service and the food was so tasteful! A must do if you’re staying at the Grand Wailea!
Ordered mahi mahi, tough as leather. Lousy fish.. lady at next table sent hers back as well. Sick for 2 days. Served in under 8 minutes so it was already cooked, nothing fresh about it.
Great food and bar! Wonderful view watching the sunset!!
Amazing food and ambiance! Lamb Chop and Ahi tuna were exceptional as was the incomparable sunset view!
Concerns - We arrived for birthday dinner and was seated in the corner table in the dining room. As there were 2 of us, we were seated in a table for 2 which meant one of us was facing away from the water. When we asked to move to the next table, which would've allowed for both of us to see the water -which was a table for 4, they said it was already reserved for a larger party. Strangely enough a party of two ended us sitting in that table.
The table behind us was a hotel salesperson who sounded like he was selling a corporate group event to a couple of event mgrs. He was louder than most folks so we heard every sales pitch and the gift they would recieve in their rooms and types of massages. We really didn't need to hear that....
Vacation in Hawaii. This new menu is outstanding. We went twice in one week!!
To say this was the worst dining experience of my life would be an understatement. We sat down and ordered mains and within 2 minutes the food was delivered. I ordered the free range chicken and the wife had the Mahi Mahi. In no world can you cook chicken in 2 minutes, which means it was already prepared and they served it up. It wasn't just our table. After we for our plates faster than it takes to get a BigMac at McDonalds I timed the table next to us and it took 5min21Sec to get their plates. At over $40 a plate this is ludicrous. It's fast food at fine dining prices. AVOID at all costs
We’ve been going to humuhumu for over two decades and this visit was disappointing. No fish in the lagoon. No lobster in the trap for guests to select from. Not even the glass aquarium anymore. So now it’s just a fake Tahitian hut over water. And no fish in the lagoon like there used to be. Our waiter claimed something broke and the resort couldn’t afford to fix it so they gave the fish to the MAui aquarium.
Food presentation was nice but tasted average. My son ordered kids mahi mahi and it caused an allergic reaction on the roof of his mouth. The waiter attentively offered a replacement dinner and then compd both children’s dinners which was an acceptable solution. Except then my lips got swollen by end of dinner from hulihuli chicken which I eat at other places here in hawaii and that never happens. So I think the kitchen uses a preservative on some food. Maybe msg.
Entree prices were ridiculously high even for a special occasion. I live in Hawaii and know other restaurants offer much better quality ingredients and freshness for half that price.
Service from waiter and busboy subpar. They should all be more attentive for those ridiculous menu prices.
This used to be our family’s go to place for anniversaries and special occasions when we lived on Maui for 2 decades. However, I no longer recommend what used to be my family’s favorite Maui resort restaurant because this dining experience was expensively disappointing.
Wonderful at every level. Food, drinks, service. Even got to watch part of a Luau in from of the sunset.
Good food and amazing customer service!
Went on restaurant week for the Maui food bank where the restaurants have a pre-fixe menu for raising money. I wouldn't have gone if it wasn't for that since the pre-fixe menu is reasonably priced especially at this restaurant where the appetizers run about $20 each and are the size of your pinky. Well let's just say the place is pricey but they have some creative cocktails and delicious food. The set menu had 2 choices of appetizers, entrees and desserts. I ordered the Spuid Ink Bao Buns (octopus, pickled onions, ginger lime aioli), Prime Beef Filet (brussels, pearl onions, bacon, potato puree, peppercorn jus) medium rare and for dessert smashed coconut. The Bao Buns were very tasty, the squid was thinly sliced not fishy at all and tender. Prime beef and very flavorful and tender, forget the knife just sink your teeth into it. The sides that came with it seemed more like the decoration because it wasn't enough to consider it a side and the potato puree was a bit gummy, but it did have a good flavor to it, all two bites of it. For drinks I had a kettle one dirty martini $22, came with 3 olives. This is an open air restaurant so it will be hot, there are ceiling fans but dress lightly and bring a hand fan if you need extra air. The view is very nice since it's right by the ocean and you can see the sun set into the horizon. So if you have some extra money to spend by all means go and have a culinary blast, minimum $120 with a cocktail, water is free including the sparkling water and bread. Oh forgot the dessert, was okay, not sure what smashed coconut is but it's like a whipped coconut cream in a dark chocolate shell as you can see in the photo it looks like a coconut but it wasn't spectacular 2/5 stars. Pre-fixe menu $59 .
Dinner was delicious and the service was phenomenal. The view of the ocean was gorgeous watching the sunset.
Wonderful setting with nice view on the water. The waiter was very friendly and the food was terrific. Will be back!
Celebrating my wife’s B-Day decided to take advantage of Wailea restaurant week specials. We had the squid ink bao, and beets with goat cheese appetizers. Our main dish was the prime beef filet, and mahi-mahi. Dessert was smashed coconut and pineapple tatin. Long story short, the food was excellent! But the best part of our dining experience was the service. Our server, Ashley was great!!
Dinner was amazing. The only down part was it was early enough, we were sat next to a VERY LARGE party so the ambiance was kinda ruined. They were pretty loud and there were open tables everywhere else. Second time we have been sat in the very back with kids. Maybe they do on purpose?? :(
Food was amazing and the atmosphere is unforgettable
Everything was perfect..from the food to the service to the atmosphere we couldn’t have asked for anything better..we will absolutely eat there again when we take our next trip to Maui
The view, the food and the service were all fabulous!
Excellent food and service. Unfortunately there was a luau next door and that noise carried over.
Service was good and fast, server was very helpful with our dietary restrictions and offered many delicious alternatives. Food was delicious and the restaurant was very extravagant and romantic. Highly recommend their pre-fixe menu for Restaurant Week Wailea.
Fantastic in every way. Highest recommendation. 🍍
We have dined here before many times and were not as pleased with our experience this time. The portions were very small and the service was average at best. The kicker was when the 18 percent gratuity was added to the bill but we were not informed and were asked to provide a further gratuity twice! Kind of sneaky and we were not impressed.
Wonderful seafood - scallop appetizer was excellent, as was the fresh catch of the day. Pricey, but to be expected. Great service.
Delicious and the view is unbeatable!
Waiter seemed disappointed that we didn’t get wine. Not all the beverages ordered were deliver to our table. We were left without flatware to eat the main course after our appetizers were cleared away.
We’ve never had such poor service here before. Usually the meal is amazing and service is great. Cancelled our second reservation for this trip.
The dessert was outstanding but the rest of the meal was a solid B-B+. Good, but by no means memorable. When you are charging the kind of $$$$, you gotta be great.
Great ambiance, service, location and food! super romantic too!
The staff were all very friendly, professional, and attentive. Both of our entrees were good...but not great. The absence of the carp that used to be in the surrounding pools was disappointing. It lent charm and a special ambiance beyond the ocean views. The empty pools now look bare in a global warming kind of theme.
Great service and excellent food
everything went just great! Thank you very much for the comp.desert for my friends bday! Gonna come again here soon!!
My wife and I anniversary. We live in Maui. But don’t go out to eat very often. Food was great. Service was great. The environment is absolutely stunning. I enjoyed the walk to the restaurant. A couple mixups like the 2 wines we ordered were out, and the desert coffee that was supposed to be famous doesn’t exist anymore. 1 of our deserts came out saying happy birthday instead of anniversary. But still they did that without being asked, so it was an honest mistake and a nice touch. An even Nicer touch was that the desert saying happy birthday was comped, and so was the French press coffee. Overall a great experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable and engaging.
We came at around 5, when Humu Humu just opened. It was a great idea, as we had the best seats in the restaurant and enjoyed the sunset from the very beginning. Food was thoughtfully prepared. Drink was expensive but exquisite and delightful. It was a good experience for the price.
Appealing location and menu but the food just doesn’t deliver — and at these prices that’s a shame!
Fish was fresh and perfectly prepared. Service was prompt and friendly. A bit overpriced.
Excellent food, lovely setting, attentive wait staff
Outstanding overall. Great ambiance, fantastic service, and incredible food. Might have been our best meal in Maui.
We had delicious food, a delightful evening, and saw an incredible sunset at the beautiful Humuhumu restaurant!
Beautiful ambiance! Best dinner. Staff is great ! Highly recommend.
We made reservations for our anniversary. It was beautiful. Our server Elise was great and the food is amazing!!
We came to Humuhumu on our last night at the Grand Wailea. Maybe I expected too much because of its reputation. I WANTED to love all of it but sadly, our experience fell short. The location can’t be beat & the ambiance is stunning but that’s about it. The food was mediocre-not bad but have had much better in Maui & the service was just ok too. We had the squid ink bao buns, Huli Chicken & the Mahi. Again, the meals weren’t bad but they didn’t stand out, average at best. We skipped dessert since our dinner experience wasn’t very impressive. Our server (maybe had too many tables) wasn’t around once our food came, no recommendations were made on the menu and honestly she wasn’t very friendly. It just seemed like she didn’t really want to be there. Sadly, I wish this experience was better. I wanted it to be great. I would save the money & go somewhere else.
Service was subpar, the food was bland and boring, the location/setting felt like we were in Disneyland. Definitely not coming back, would advise others to do the same.
