Humuhumu - Grand Wailea
The place was not busy but the service was very slow. The food was ok but not great for the price you are paying. I don’t know if the server was not used to kids in general but didn’t offer to bring their food with the appetizer, so our kids had to wait for an hour to get their food. The person who cleared the dishes were so rough he almost spilled sauce all over our phone and purse. They never came around to refill our water or wine glasses. My supposed-to-be seared tuna was not properly seared but kind of cooked. The wagyu beef dish did not taste like the best steak. The main dishes go from $30-50 plus. That should have been much better. We are used to Manhattan restaurants and if we pay that much, we could get much better food and service besides the ambience. The place depends on the mood too much in my opinion. It was such a disappointment.
Wait staff & food are fantastic! It's a little on the dark side as far as ambiance.
Food is not that great, but atmosphere is 5 star. Desserts are terrible, fish was mushy. Loved the beet and goat cheese salad
Very accommodating. It was windy due to a storm and they gave us warm towels for our legs. Really nice.
Fun location, great view. Food fresh and delicious!! Apps are outstanding..especially the spicy beef app and the crudo
Great meal with exceptional service!
Incredible food and service! A must for Maui!
The food was great, but the service was poor. We made a reservation, but still felt like an afterthought. We only saw our server three times throughout the evening - when we were initially greeted, when it was time to pay, and to respond to my request for red wine at room temperature, as I did not enjoy the chilled red wine I had been served. Other than that, random other staff members took our order, checked on us, and cleared our plates.
The food was spectacular!!
We had a lovely meal at Humu. It was pretty expensive, but the food was amazing. Not a place for your average dinner, but perfect for special occasion. We went with a group of 8 people, but when our meals came they only brought 7 meals, not sure if they forgot one? So we had to wait about 10-15 minutes for the last meal to arrive. They did give that individual a free drink, but for $50 entrees, I'm not sure if a free drink was enough. Amazing food thought and would recommend.
Amazing romantic venue. We dined for our honeymoon and we’re very well taken care of. This restaurant exceeded my expectations.
Patricia was our server and she was awesome!
Excellent place, wonderful ambiance....definitely recommend!
Very nice for a special occasion very costly Ok
Beautiful setting In the thatched huts- outdoors yet protected by the roofs. Near the beach therefore soothed by the crash of the waves. Excellent lamb and mahi-mahi entrees.
Ambience and food were exceptional. We LOVED the crispy mahi mahi and the lobster!
Amazing!!! The most beautiful restaurant in Maui! We will be back!
Five nights at Wailea, and this was, by far, our worst meal. When we sat down, we were given menus that were ragged and had clearly seen better days. The vinaigrette on our mixed green salad had way too much vinegar. The mahi mahi with Brussels sprouts was unremarkable. My husband ordered the lamb "medium" and even our server admitted that it was way too rare. The cheesecake dessert was the strangest dessert I've ever eaten and my husband's serving of ice cream had huge chunks of ice in it. The entire experience was a disappointment from beginning to end for what was supposed to be a special experience on our last night after 2-1/2 weeks in Hawaii. Bummer.
This once was one of our favorites. We hadn’t been to Maui in the last 7 years. Huge disappointment on the menu selection. Wouldn’t go here again unless they add more food options
Wonderful food and the most beautiful setting! Service was excellent! A+
One of best dining experiences on Maui. Food was fantastic and wine selections were everything we could have dreamed of. We had a phenomenal waiter and he treated us like royalty. Thank you so much, Humuhumu!
Nathan was extremely attentive, knowledgeable and kind..
Fantastic location. Unique ambience. Wonderful service and spectacular cuisine!
Always our first night on Maui
Perfect in every way. Come at sunset and watch the sun disappear into the ocean.
Great food, great atmosphere and great service. I highly recommend, one of the best restaurants on the island.
Good food, not great (especially for the price). Sunset view was incredible. Service very good.
Very high quality food, service and view.
The prices are a match for a resort restaurant. Overall amazing.
Not impressed with first table offered...way in the back next to a group of 6...asked for another option and about 5 minutes later seated at a table with a nice view. Justin, our waiter was great!
Second time around. First time really went well with food and service, and the fish special was ordered then as well as the second time around—absolutely delish, undeniably fresh, and the New York Steak was perfectly grilled rare. It was my son’s birthday and he received a free heavenly chocolate delight in the end and the waitress Aleese brought a cute stuffed humuhumunukunukuapua’a to commemorate his time there. I already forsee future engagements at Humuhumu.
HIGHLY recommend HumuHumu. We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and loved everything we ate. The server also had great knowledge of the menu and recommended tasty drinks that were not too sweet. It's quite expensive but would go again if I could!
We spent 8 nights in Wailea recently and our dinner here was the best meal of our whole trip. We loved the Polynesian style and lush location of this restaurant and had a great sunset view from our table. Our server was very friendly and competent as were the other staff we encountered. We had the spicy beef appetizer and watercress salad, followed by the New York steak and roast chicken. Everything was perfectly prepared with interesting flavours and just delicious. We will hurry back here the next time we’re in the area.
Enjoyed the sunset and ocean views while celebrating an anniversary.
New chef and menu changed for the worse. No more whole fresh fish, steak for two and other popular items. The new menu now includes a $40 hamburger! The food was just so-so and something you can find in any Hawaiian resort restaurant. Sadly, with the exception of the view, Humu is no longer a special place.
Setting can't be beat! Beautiful place to go for sunset.
Food was disappointing compared to previous visits.
This restaurant is great! Thatched huts have a great ambiance. The seafood is first rate. We had three different fish dishes and all three were perfect. It was most impressive.
Great food and service, very cool setting and vibe.
The place and service is amazing. Menu needs help with more comfort food.. Mahi Mahi was overpowered with the dark rice and almost burnt artichokes.
Once again the servicer was amazing. I live in SF and a small restaurant called House in SF makes a sea bass that blows away the Mahi Mahi. I've been coming to HumuHUmu for 18 years.
