Humboldt Farm Fish Wine Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I were on vacation in Denver and on our last evening, we decided to try Humboldt. The cuisine was fresh and very well prepared. (Try the calamari - outstanding!) The restaurant is inviting and has a great ambiance. Service is outstanding - out server was warm, charming and professional. No doubt we'll be back next time in Denver.
We've been here for dinner twice. Like the ambiance and service. Dishes tend to be hit and miss. We absolutely love the roasted brussel sprout small plate. The clam chowder was pretty good too. The crab cake seemed to have more filler than I like and was overpowered by the tomato sherry sauce. The sauce didn't seem a good fit for a crab cake. My husband's salmon was okay but nothing memorable. With so many good restaurants in Denver, not sure we'll return here for dinner. Maybe for a drink and the brussel sprouts though.
Veggies here are the best! My hubby had a hamburger and it was wonderful---saw several go by, so it must be a highlight. My salmon was on a bed of carmelized onions, potatoes, and carrots. Very tasty! Going back soon. Have a reservation, tho. 1 1/2 hour wait on a Monday nite without one.
So I typically don't write reviews, but I just need everyone to know how amazing this place is. I've been here for a drink before and had great service and fantastic drinks. Service this night was great as usual and I just decided to go with a burger- now I've had good burgers and great burgers, and they're not really something that ever strongly calls my attention, but this burger created a whole other level of amazingness. Holy cow! (No pun intended). I don't doubt the rest of their menu is as delicious, I definitely plan on coming back. The place also has a great ambiance, really enjoyable place to be in overall.
Went on a Sunday and it was $1 oysters which is a great deal! Oysters were fresh and delicious! Great wine menu at very reasonable prices! There were several specials which was a nice supplement to the menu. The Brussels sprouts app was excellent! Spicy and crunchy with great flavor! We had two of the specials- bouillabaisse and monk fish. Both were prepare perfectly- moist fish and great flavor. We will definitely be back!
I've gone here four times since it changed owners and became Humbolt. When I first went I loved it but sadly every time I go back I feel like it's gotten less and less good. The service (Nicole) was amazing and she is one of the best servers out there. Unfortunately the food isn't nearly as great as she is. Sadly, I probably won't be going back anymore.
We returned to Humboldt to celebrate my dad's birthday and were not disappointed! This continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Denver. They brought back their old brussels sprouts recipe which we love. The trout dip sounds weird but it is to die for! They have the best oysters and if you go on Sundays, you can get bottomless mimosas and $1 oysters while they have them. All of our meals were delicious, my 10 year old nephew loved his burger, and the desserts were perfect for a birthday topping! We will keep frequenting Humboldt as long as we are in Denver!
My husband and I stopped at Humboldt Farm Fish Wine for lunch on our honeymoon. It was a decent little place but the service left something to be desired and the food was about as fancy as what I could make at home. I ordered the fish sandwich and it had a nice flavor to it but the bun was twice as big as the fish. I enjoy carbs as much as the next person but I don't need my lunch to compete for "Most Carbs Consumed" with a traditional Thanksgiving feast. My husband ordered the prime rib au jus and after a few bites couldn't eat it. It was mostly fat and a drippy soggy mess. They brought out his plate with the truffle fries and a couple minutes later brought out a new set because his were cold--he did not mention this to the waitress so the kitchen knew his food had been sitting long enough to get cold. My Brussels sprouts and butternut squash side was to die for! I absolutely adored it! We also ordered the flash fried broccoli with some sauce drizzled over it and it was delicious.
I would recommend this place to a friend but I'd tell them our experiences too. The food was good but the preparation was what turned us off from ever returning.
Good food and atmosphere. A place you'd want to visit with friends and visitors from out of town. We found the appetizers, crispy broccoli and Brussels sprouts a little disappointing, however; not up to previous standards. The sprouts seemed too spicy and the broccoli had too much parmesan cheese. The main dish, braised short ribs, was excellent (taste, texture, presentation). Service, as always, was professional and very good. Would highly recommend.
