Small portions but good flavors. $30 scallops had 3 medium scallops and not enough vegetables. Dessert was coconut panna cotta & delicious.
We took old friends from out of town here, and we all were impressed with every aspect of the experience. We were seated out of the way of the main activity, so conversation was easy and service was efficient but unobtrusive.
Food was ok
Excellent food and outstanding, thoughtful service. Several members of our party have a severe gluten allergy, and they were very well taken care of. Thank you for a memorable anniversary dinner!
The food came too soon especially after the waitress said she’d wait to place our order until we were done with our appetizers. Main course was OK but my salmon lack much flavor. I was expecting more.
The food at Humboldt was wonderful. We had made a reservation because 3 of our family had birthdays over these few weeks. When I called, after making my reservation on OpenTable, I was told that they saw my note about birthdays and would be doing something special. However, we were not told that they were shut down between 3 - 5, which is when I made our reservation (3pm). It seemed that because they were shut down at this time, we were an after-thought. We were able to order some appetizers and they were very good tasting, however, we had to check back with the waitress about when exactly we could order. We ordered over $200 worth of food, but NEVER were offered a special birthday recognition for the 3 in our party. The waitress even asked us if there was anything special we were celebrating and we (again) told her that we were celebrating 3 birthdays. I was very disappointed. Again, the food and ambiance were good, but I highly recommend they tell people when making reservations that they are closed from 3 - 5 on Sundays. Not sure we'll be back.
This is a gem of a restaurant! For appetizers, the three of us shared the crispy Brussels sprouts and the tuna tartare--both were lick-the-plate good. While the scallops entrée was a little skimpy, it was delicious. The butter poached salmon was a bigger portion and cooked to perfection. As for our waiter Charles, he was as smooth and lovely as the jazz being played inside the restaurant. Instead of trying to get into the latest restaurant where selfies are a practically on the menu, consider this one that has so many stellar reviews.
Overall we had a decent experience but there is room for improvement. We sat outside. Instead of cleaning off a table for us that was situated on a level surface, we were seated at a table on a significant slant, so that was awkward throughout the meal with glasses, etc. Also, huge issue with flies buzzing around us the entire time. Understand that sitting outside has those risks, but this was excessive and probably could be addressed. Food was good, though. Just sit inside if you go.
The service was absolutely incredible— I was totally wowed. He answered every question I had and then went above and beyond to get details for me
Humboldt never disappoints. Crispy brussel sprouts are delicious. My sister and I had the short rib. it was amazing...so tender. Also had some wonderful rose wine that was on the daily specials list. Too full for dessert!
The name implies a focus on fresh food. The focus was on salty glazes and oily food. The bussel sprouts were so over powered by the glaze that they put on them you couldn't even tell they were sprouts. The mussels were ok but not great. The fries were oily and just not what I would expect from a restaurant that purports to be what this one says it is. Very very disappointment. Also we were there at a happy hour time and the they said they were out of happy hour beer because the keg broke and they did not offer any alternatives. That is a small complaint but it is not nice. So I will not be back to this place. I hope they can reflect on what they say they are about which is fresh food good food served to highlight the food. The food was so salty that we drank close 2 to 3 liters of water after the meal. I definitely will not go back but the atmosphere was nice.
Enjoyed every minutes...food was great as well as service.
The food was amazing, and we didn’t even have an actual meal. The shrimp cocktail was perfect, the tuna tar-tare, and the scallop appetizer was perfect as well! Who knew oranges, and jalapeños were so good together?! Desert was heavenly as well. Our waitress seemed to come by at the perfect moments (not mid-bite). I want to eat here again soon!
Great menu and variety of pricing. The waiter was a bit hurried with us, but we had a great time, good ambiance, good food. Will definitely return.
There food is exquisite. The chef creates beautiful dishes with amazing combinations of flavors and fresh in season produce. The wine selection is superb and pair well with the dishes.
The inside can feel small and not intimate for a fancy date night dinner. The have many small tables alone one big booth. Not cozy separate seating options. The live jazz music is a classy touch.
Our concern was the attentiveness to our table cleanliness. Not once was our tiny table wiped off in between courses. When spending a decent amount of money on dinner we expect the best service. This is an area they could improve on. The silverware had water spots and my first wine glass had something on it.
Overall we enjoyed our evening but they had areas they could grow in as a restaurant.
Interesting menu, something for everyone. Live music was the perfect volume so that we could enjoy the music and our conversation!
Love this place! We celebrate lots of birthdays here. Their brunch is great.
Normally, we love this restaurant. It’s 6 blocks from our house and we frequent it a lot, but the food wasn’t all that great this time. The menu has changed in the last couple of months, and it’s not as dynamic, health conscious, or tantalizing as it used to be. The “fresh” veggies don’t seem very fresh, the meat doesn’t have the same quality either. Not sure what’s happened, but it’s different...that said, our server was truly outstanding, as usual.
Usually enjoy dining here but this must have been a bit of an off night. Out of chicken at 7 pm, fish over cooked, and really what’s with a $16 margarita that is mostly ice!
Very nice service food ambiance.
Always a great spot
It was a birthday and we celebrated in style. The wine deals are amazing on Mondays!
OMG, the dishes we had were delicious. This is the second time I've been to HFF and it hasn't disappointed. The seabass with saffron cream is incredible. The scallop crudo had just the right amount of bite from the jalapenos and the lemon sauce in the dish was delish. The fried brussel sprouts were simply addictive. Yum all the way around.
Always consistently good and utilizing fresh seasonal ingredients.
Lovely evening. We had a variety of appetizers including the truffle fries and peppers padron. Great service. Our entrees were delicious, too.
The food was outstanding and the service very attentive without being intrusive.
We had the brussel sprouts and ahi tuna for appetizers and they were great. It was the entrees I had issues with. My wife ordered the salmon and it was very dry. I ordered the pork chop and it was thin, extremely small and dry. If I had two bites that's a lot.
We were somewhat disappointed in our experience. The food was not particularly memorable; the halibut was bland and somewhat dry, and the scallop portion was very small for a main dish (3 medium sized scallops for $33 dollars).
They did have a terrific jazz duo which made the ambiance pleasant.
Great mojitos & friendly staff
Great spot for fresh food and excellent service. We had the mussels (simple yet delicious), brussel sprouts, house smoked half chicken and salmon. I never order chicken as an entree, but our waiter recommended it over the pork chop so I got it - great tip b/c it was incredible. The salmon was tasty too. The service was outstanding - our waiter let us taste a number of wines b/c we weren't sure what to order and was always upbeat, friendly and on top of our needs. Highly recommended.
We are in the Denver Cherry Creek area for 10 weeks and go out for dinner 5 times per week to mostly upscale restaurants. This has been our favorite by far and will do a repeat ASAP! Loved the goat cheese ravioli and the scallops were best I’ve ever eaten!! And the Shishito peppers were delightful!
This was my second dining experience at Humbolt. Not anywhere close to my first experience in March. The service was not as expected. Our server came back several times to question what we ordered. We still did not receive what we ordered. Nor did our server or a manager come over and ask us our our meal tasted after see still received a different preparation of the fish we ordered. Very disappointing.
This is my go-to restaurant any day I go to the Natural History Museum or IMAX theater, a few minutes east on Humboldt. I've never been disappointed. This is a comfortable place for conversation; tables not too close and noise controlled through environmental design. Tasty vegetable items set Humboldt apart; I've noticed several people ordering the excellent broccoli or Brussel sprouts as an entree.
Great service and the meal was excellent. Live Jazz music on Saturday night was a pleasant surprise.
We took friendsfrom Durango. We loved it! I had not been back in Denver in over a year and it was nice to sit outside on a nice evening . Our waiter Issa was wonderful. The food was so flavorful and fun! We normally live in Hawaii but have a place at City Park so we could walk over. We had a variety of appetizers which satisfied the women, but the men wanted to try the entries too. All was excellent and so much better priced that our Hawaii menus.
Had casual business meeting here. Service was great! Food was good and menu was just the right size. A little loud but manageable. Booth backs were not comfortable.
We are now officially regulars at Humboldt. We go there once or twice a month, and whenever we have guests from out of town we take them there. Service is best; prices are great; and the food is spectacular. The Trout Dish and the Brussels Sprouts are the best in Denver. Easy parking, great location. DON'T MISS
The atmosphere here is very pleasant. Our server was very attentive. The food was very attractive and well presented and delicious. Definitely plan to return with my lovely spouse in the near future.
The waiter Allen was excellent. Pleasea t and knowledgeable
Humbolt is our “go to” spot for Sunday brunch with family. There is always something for adults, teens and children on menu. Excellent service and wonderful specials and appetizers while you wait. Cant beat the unlimited mimosas!
