Hula Grill - Waikiki Ratings and Reviews
The resteraunt was great however the reservation was not received they had no table ready was unable to access the open table website due to Hmmmm trouble to confirm reservation. So ended up waiting for an hour on a table when thought I had a reservation experience with website not so stellar
I used to like here but service became terrible. The restaurant was empty at that time but they didn’t even offer table and chairs inside restaurant to my sister who has baby twins with her. Hotel restaurant don’t do this kind services. They said ‘ it’s policy everyone has to be together to have a table because they want all orders at once ??? Where is hospitality ? They don’t know how to be flexible. Services are very slow. Again it was empty and the waiters easily to take care of guests I don’t understand why took so long. It was disappointed. Food is ok atmosphere is ok. Valet parking is $8 plus tip... ok job. Everyone of them in Waikiki does then I rather go better one like halekulani restaurants
Everything was great but went for a birthday and no birthday cake? Would’ve been nice to get a little something.
Service was great. Server was very attentive.
Exception was made to sub a fish- opah for the ono. Fish was cooked to perfection. Great flavors. Definitely hit the spot!
Very romantic place.
Great for sunset hour.
Overall had a nice experience.
Usually go once a year for special occasions.
Will definitely go again.
Service was great, staff were really friendly. Food tasted great, so would go back for more. It was the drinks that were not that great, might be the warm weather which melted all the ice in the drinks making it diluted. Overall great restaurant, would go back again
The entrees were really good, view was great, and service was great. Prices aren't low, but that's what you pay to eat on the water in Waikiki. The bread pudding left something to be desired but everything else was really great and I would recommend and go again myself.
We have dined at this restaurant on our yearly visit to Hawaii for a number of years, and it has been fine. This time, our chicken came out before our salad, and the chicken was pink inside for one piece, and ice cold in the middle for the other. We won’t be returning. Lovely view, though, and friendly, though inaccurate service.
Hula Grill was the best restaurant experience in our latest stay in Honolulu. We were seated near the balcony with a perfect view of the sunset. Our mai tais were perfect. The pineapple & greens salad and the fire-grilled ahi were perfect. Surprisingly, we didn't see as much variety and creativeness on other restaurant menus.
Hula Grill was fantastic.
We were seated on the balcony with a great view of the beach and ocean. We ordered a couple of mai tais to start - they were very good.
For an appetizer my wife and I split the ceasar salad - it was delicious. The dressing was a bit creamier than I am used to, but it had a great flavor.
For entrees, I ordered the mahi-mahi with and extra lobstertail. It was fantastic. The fish and lobster were both cooked perfectly. I ate every bit of both. There was a light creamy sauce with the mahi-mahi; I have no idea what it was, but it tasted fantastic. The portions were both huge. By the time I finished the fish and lobster, I had no room for the rice or other items on the plate.
My wife ordered the beef short rib. It was cooked very well and the flavor was fantastic. To be honest, I only had a couple of small bites because my dish was so good.
We skipped desert because we were so full.
Overall, this was one of my favorite restaurants in Hawaii. The service was great, the food was great, the drinks were good. I would absolutely recommend this, and we will be going back.
My one suggestion: if your party only has two people, make sure to ask for a table at outside at the edge of the balcony. The ambiance did not seem as good inside the restaurant, but our table was fantastic.
We dined at Hula Grill last week while visiting Waikiki for the first time. We've been to the Maui location several times. The ambiance here is different; it's not quite as scenic, classy or authentic-feeling as being right on the beach in Maui. It has a more casual vibe. That being said, it is still a (partially) open-air restaurant with ocean views (from the second floor of the hotel it's in) and we'd visit it again. It's central, the food is very good, and we dined with our two kids (2.5 and 10 months) and they were very accommodating. Our server, Steve, offered local suggestions for things to do and see - and was a really nice guy. 4/5 stars overall.
