About Hula Grill - Kaanapali
On the water's edge on Kaanapali Beach, Hula Grill offers a stunning view of the Pacific and of the islands of Lanai and Molokai. From this distinctly Hawaiian vantage point, you are invited to join us as we celebrate the hospitality, culture and cuisine of the islands. Dinner is served in our open-air dining room where you can relax in the ambiance of a plantation era beach house while enjoying renown chef Peter Merriman's Hawaii Regional Seafood, that isn't only a favorite of vacationers, but locals too. Hawaiian fresh fish and locally grown produce are combined to create amazing menu offerings that are as colorful as they are flavorful. Fiery sunsets are served up daily along with live Hawaiian entertainment.
Our Barefoot Bar offers a more casual menu serving both lunch and dinner under authentic thatch roof umbrellas and a sand floor where you can sink your toes in. The Barefoot Bar is seated on a walk-in basis only.

Hula Grill - Kaanapali Ratings and Reviews
Go to the Hula Grill. We had a great waiter, Reed, who was attentive to our needs. We had one of the best seats in the restaurant. We used open door to book and let them know it was our Honeymoon. No wait to be seated for lunch reservation. The food was amazing. We ordered, poke tacos, sashimi and Fish Tacos. The price was to be expected but, a free dessert to celebrate would have made this trip unforgettable. Nonetheless, the Hula Pie was amazing. And overall worth making a viait. Thanks for the experience Hula Grill. Good job.
Stopped at the hula grill on the first night of our honeymoon in Maui. My wife and I️ ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer which you could tell that it was very fresh, no cocktail sauce was needed. My wife ordered the ahi tuna steak cooked rare and I️ had the snapper. Halfway through dinner we traded plates just because everything was so good and we wanted to try the other plate.
Located on Kaanapali beach and had a live band and tiki torches which really made the experience complete. Also, our server Montana was excellent.
Would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Maui.
Ahhh-mazing. Best dinner we have had while in Maui. We had seared Ahi tuna and a special two fish combo. My husband has a shellfish allergy and our waiter, Montana, did an excellent job ensuring no shellfish products were on our plate. Dessert of pineapple upside down cake was excellent.
Came back to Hula for another wonderful dinner with music and scenic view. We had Montana's section again, and once again perfect service. We had the fresh local salad with fern and palm, special of filet mignon and a light fish chowder with shrimp, fish and lobster.
Great spot right on the Ocean in Whaler's Village. Big crowd on a Tuesday night, but seated immediately thanks to OpenTable. Crab Topped Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi-Mahi, almost seems too obvious as a go-to, but it was the best fish I've had here during my week on Maui.
Hula grill has some of the best preparations of fresh fish on Maui. Beats out Merriman's and Mama's based on price, portion size and preparation. Service was great, Montana did not miss a step and was kind enough bring us an anniversary dessert where as Mama's did not. We spent $200 at Mama's for lunch before dessert. We loved the fish preparations at Hula so much that we came back a few nights later for another wonderful meal.
The food was not as expected and not worth the amount paid. One meal was ahi steak and one a rib eye. They were cooked incorrectly. The ahi was to be medium rare and rib eye to be medium but they were flipped. Just disappointed in the amount of money for a meal that was just sub par.
Great service and not a bad view of the ocean. The chicken was roasted and served on a large piece of cornbread- sort of a strange flavor combination but still good.
The carbonara was a healthier version which was very welcome.
I recommend this restaurant - very friendly staff and good food.
Hula Grill was good but it seems as though they have slipped a bit in the quality of their food preparation. Our fish was dry and seemed overcooked. Salad was excellent as was the wonderful focaccio and condiments they are famous for. Ambience is wonderful.
I had the special which was mahi mahi and ono. Pr4esented nicely but as stated both of the fish seemed overcooked. My dining partner had mahi mahi which was also dry and overcooked.
