We were on vacation in Kauai. We came here for my wife's birthday. It did not disappoint. It may of been the best meal we have had. We both had fish that we incredible. The service was fantastic. The food and desserts were awesome. We set on the Lanai and it was great. We will absolutely come here again if we are able to get back to the island. This place is great for a romantic dinner!

Hukilau is one of my favorite restaurants in Kauai.
I eat there every summer when I visit the islands - it's always great.

The tasting menu served during the first 45 minutes after opening was some of the best food we have had on Hawaii. It was a bit slow to come out but worth the wait.

Fabulous restaurant with great food and service. Our waiter was perfect except he stood too close to us or the table (in our personal space) where it was awkward as we were either looking at his waist line or craning our necks to look upward at him.

This is one of our favorite restaurants on Kauai. The view is pleasant but it is the food and service that are exceptional. We always reserve ahead of our vacation for outside patio dining. We've never been disappointed.

We have traveled to Kauai five times and this was the best dining experience by far!

Had a reservation, but still had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. A couple of notes on the food: Beautiful selection of local seafood, and the mixed grill was superb. On the other hand, the salad was over-dressed, and the prime rib wasn't very tender (but cooked perfectly). Special birthday chocolate on the dessert plate and truffles to take home were a delightful touch! Great dining experience overall.

Hukilau does it again. They are reliably excellent. It's not cheap, but it's good every time. I'm not generally a fish person, but my wife got the three fish combo, and had to keep me away with her fork. It was SO good. I'm a convert!!

All of the positive reviews for the Hukilau Lanai are correct: this is the best restaurant we've encountered on Kauai. Everything was just right: the food was fresh and delicious, the service was truly outstanding and the view was beautiful.

This is how good it was: the only thing I can think of as being "less than perfect" is that the light bulbs in the dining room ceiling fans were CFL's. These tend to suck the color out of everything, including the food. But, that's it. Everything else was spot-on.

I would go back to Kauai for several reasons, and dining at the Kukilau Lanai would be near the top of the list.

We were staying at the Beachboy which is the property that the restaurant is located on. So the first night we chose to eat there for convenience. It was so good, we ate there 2 more times. It is worth driving there. One of my favorites is the meatloaf--what a great way to start the vacation after that long flight and time zone changes. The perfoect comfort food. And much better than my Mom ever made. WE eventually tried just about everything on the menu and loved it all.
There are 20 wines in both colors for $20+ each and they were good.
And I loved the coconut cheese cake!
Portions are extrememly generous and , if you are staying at a time-share, you have lunch for the next day!

Two of us were visiting the north end of Kauai and this was recommended by our condo owner. The Hukui Lau provided outstanding flavor for the two different fish dishes we ordered and the flavor was super from the sauces through to the attractive garnishes. The presentations were lovely as an added bonus. Started with the ribs appetizer which had great flavor and delicious sauce, followed by soup/salad which was included and my lobster bisque with tiny pieces of lobster had flavor, thickness, and I'd recommend it 100%. Servings are a good size so you won't go away hungry. We finished with their milk chocolate mousse with toffee pieces and thought I'd won the lottery! Food, ambiance, service all top notch and I've already recommended it to others.

The food was good, My husband had the surf and turf. I had the trio of fish. I was a little disappointed because it was our 27th anniversary and I had put that in the special instructions but nothing was said by the server. Why bother to mention anything special on the reservation on open table?

Must try their fish dishes. Highly recommend the Hukilau mixed grill- they feature 3 different local fishes- all was exceptional.
Try to go between 5 and 6pm when they offer the 5 course tasting menu. Mai Tai was awesome too.

Local fish and locally sourced ingredients make this a restaurant I return to frequently. The mixed grill of 3 fish is easily shared, Adam's poke nachos are what dreams are made of, and the vegetarian lasagna hits all the right notes. Helen Turner's music hits those right notes too.

We have been coming to the Hukilaui Resturant for many years and continue to enjoy your Resturant.

The food and service is impeccable.

5-course tasting menu with wine pairing is awesome. Small portions with excellent preparation and locally sourced ingredients. Service was top notch.. Overall excellent evening.

Excellent food with wonderful atmosphere and service! We went to celebrate our wedding and were glad this restaurant was recommended to us by our wedding planner.

Food and drinks were excellent, but our main server was not attentive at all. He was even confused about some of the items we ordered right off the menu. The manager began taking our plates since he was not keeping up.

In town on business. Brought 3 kids and spouse. Wanted a good dining experience our last night on island and achieved that here.

We had a great dinner with an interesting wine list. There were 4 of us and each of enjoyed all the dishes we had. One person had the 5 course dinner and loved it. Our server was great as well.

Great customer service. Gave us a free appetizer because the were running behind in seating us. Lobster and goat cheese wontons were awesome! Try the lobster bisque.

Excellent food, not good service. Did not get my wine until my meal was almost over. Had reservations and a walk in was seated before we were. I went up and asked the hostess about this and was seated immediately, felt we were not important

My dad has difficulty walking, they easily accommodated our table location request - and then again when an extra person showed up. Hina was a very gracious and attentive waitress. The food was delicious! Also love the live entertainment in the comfortable lounge.

This is the best restaurant we've found on Kauai. The seating is either on an open lanai or a covered patio, both with views of the gardens. No ocean views but still very nice. The service was both very knowledgeable and appropriately attentive. For starters, 3 of us had caesar salads and 1 had the chilled gazpacho. All were excellent. For entrees, we had the ono, a chicken with mushrooms, the filet, and Wally's special steak. All were well prepared and presented and tasted great. My wife has a gluten intolerance and they were able to easily accommodate her. We've eaten at a lot of places on the island over the years and there are some good ones, but Hukilau is the best we've found.

This restaurant just does not disappoint. Good quality ingredients, good service, great hostesses, good value and it will continue to be my go to place while visiting Kauai. I do wish they brought back the seafood sampler with the shrimp.
