Hugo's Cellar - Four Queens Ratings and Reviews
This place is amazing! They still understand the fine art of creating a great EXPERIENCE, in addition to an outstanding meal. Truly a special place. Very personalized and attentive service, exception food (I highly recommend the filet), and warm historic atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
My wife and I went for our wedding anniversary. We just loved it. The steak and prime rib was unbelievable. The prime rib was the best I've had in years. The great food and service had not changed since we had last visited here, 15 years ago. I would highly recommend Hugo's to all of our friends and families.
Well, it started off pretty well. We were about 5 min late for our seating. We were actually on time, but the hotel to the west blocks the street off when the canopy has its show so we had to turn around and fight our way back the other direction. Very irritating and I'd like to find out what kind of permit they actually have to arbitrarily put barricades put in the middle of the street. I could tell they were not official barricades, just some crappy ones put together by the other hotel. Anyway, I digress. The valet guy was totally cool, gave us directions to the restaurant and they gave my wife a rose (as they do every woman). Seating was good but I'm an avid watcher of several chef tv shows and some of it is rubbing off on me I guess. I could be wrong but I believe the vent above our table hadn't been cleaned in oh, maybe a year? Anyway, the servers were amazing. Never hurried us, never hung around unnecessarily, yet seemed to be there when we needed them. As far as the food, I had the duck. Braised tableside, it was good. I wanted something I could not cook at home and that was my choice. I could tell it was prepared perfectly, however I have found that was my last duck. It's just not my thjng and not their fault, just simply a "been there and done that" sort of thing. My wife had the filet and shrimp with peppercorn sauce. Steak was prepared correctly but it was dry. Prob not entirely the cook's fault as I asked whether they used USDA PRIME beef or not and they do NOT. In a place this pricey, I would expect they do. I do at home and the price diff is not that much. I would gladly pay extra in a setting like that for meat like that. She didn't like the peppercorn sauce, but that is her personal taste as I thought it was tasty. Shrimp were sizable and delicious. Rice was fluffy and tasty. Bread was excellent. They have some cracker bread with seasoning---really good. Salad that they assemble at the table is great. The dressing is the star.
Been going to Hugo's Cellar for over 40 years and it is consistently excellent. Romantic and old Vegas atmosphere with great food, service, cocktails and wine. Love that they still give women a long stemmed rose to take home which is the icing on the cake of an always wonderful culinary experience, especially for a special occasion. Just recently celebrated out 35th wedding anniversary there. It's a special place for us because we had dinner there on our wedding night as we were married nearby and reserved Hugo's private room for our small wedding party.
The service and food were ok. I have had better or the same prime rib many other places in Vegas for half the price or less. The sea bass was overcooked but tasty. I asked for only a bit of dressing on my salad and it was drenched. The bread tasted stale. Not worth the $$$
My husband and i made our reservation online that was extremely easy. When we arrived the host presented me with a long stemmed red rose and seated us. The whole wait staff was absolutely awesome. The salad is made table side and done individually for each person at the table. I have a lettuce intolerance so he was happy to give me a plate of the toppings of my choice. I had tge beef wellington that far exceeded my expectations. It is a must have there. All entrees come with salad, entree, veggies, bread basket on the table and dessert. I wish i lived closer! 💜
