Hudson Grille - Stamford Ratings and Reviews
First time at the restaurant and was so happy with the experience. The food was fresh and very good. Service was very attentive. Prices are good. No complaints at all which is unusual these days with some of the restaurants falling short.
Will definitely return again.
Great spot if you frequent The Avon Theater pre- dinner or post dinner.
Had gift card. Went on a Thursday evening so knew it would be noisy so sat outside...pleasant. Waitress was attentive in taking our order, but waited 45 minutes for bottle of wine, basket of bread and dish of edamame to appear. Appetizers came out immediately after. Restaurant needs to work on their pacing. Entrees very tasty if a bit overpriced. More of a bar scene, really. Have asked restaurant staff for charity donations in the past ( many neighboring restaurants have been consistently generous) and have always been brushed off by the hostesses. That and the erratic delivery of our meal and the many other eating options in downtown Stamford would place a return to The Hudson Grille low on my list.
4 different people "checked us in"--asking us if we had been helped, and then not seating us--why? But the strange service continued. After we were served our entree, we expected the customary inquiry regarding how the food was--but I was in the middle of a "Punch line" and one of those 4 mentioned above, not our waiter, came over, and barged right in, making sure that her voice was loud and clear over mine. It was startling to our entire party, and it happened at least 3 or 4 other times by others talking over us. By this time, I thought that instead of thoughtful, but too agrressive, it had crossed the line to rude. Food was good generally, but my fish, halibut, was over-done, which was hard to do considering it was 3 inches thick!
Hudson Grille was truly amazing!! I can't believe that we waited this long to book a reservation. The service was excellent! Right on key from the time we arrived until we left. We ordered a bottle of white and red wine and both were excellent choices by the waiter. The food was delicious!!!! We can't wait to go back.
Nice indoor/outdoor dining spot. Not too noisy or crowded. Food was good especially the beef (filet and burger) and the desserts were great. American style tapas menu provided some good choices but we stayed with the more traditional salad and entree. Caesar salad was outstanding. My wife was disappointed in the Chardonnay recommendation, but otherwise a very good experience.
Delicious food (Dijon crusted halibut and seafood risotto)!!, outside is nice spot to sit to people watch. Appreciate the waitress suggesting we order 1 caesar salad to split between us rather than ordering 2 smaller ones (which was a less expensive way to go).
Not sure why Waitress offered complimentary edamame appetizer & we accepted but then edamame wasn't delivered. Our salads arrived & it seemed too late at that point to then ask for edamame.
I had the onion soup, which was okay, and the filet mignon, which was delicious. It was very good quality meat - almost tender enough to cut with a butter knife, and cooked just right. Before the meal we were given a complimentary bowl of peas still in their shell. No one at our table wanted them but 2 of us tried them. I couldn't tell if they were cooked or not, but there was a seasoning on them. They were incredibly hard to chew so we only ate one or two of them. There were 3 of us there on a Saturday night in September and it was not busy at all, so I hope more people check out this place so it stays in business.
Went to Hudson grill because Bedford St. has many great places to dine. I knew Hudson would be good, but it was better than I expected. Great atmosphere, service was super and the food was really good. Went on restaurant week, and one of the items was not on the menu but was listed online. Not a problem. got what I wanted so we stayed for a few drinks after. Going back next week, fill you in.
We needed to get to the movies. The waitstaff was very accommodating. Two I'd us had the onion soup. It was a little watery and not enough cheese. The salmon was excellent as was the pasta special. One person thoroughly enjoyed his burger and the fries weren't greasy.
We all decided we'd do back again.
Came here early one Saturday morning and their online brunch menu didn't match their regular menu- disappointing. The food was underwhelming and when I asked to make one simple change to my order- it seemed to be overly complicated to our waiter. Definitely better places on this block to grab food.
My wife had been there previously with her sister, so she knew that the noise level would be lively. We sat in the restaurant instead of the outside patio, but the service and food were very good. The steaks my friend and I had were good, but could have used more of a crispy outside - perhaps they should invest in a good broiler. Overall a good place to meet after work, or for a lively dinner.
My only concern is the music was so loud you couldn't hear yourself talk while seated at rounded table. Then again, I was happy after a while the music was drowing out anything my online date had too say.
I enjoyed the bar a great deal and the waiter, wish I could remember his names was "the best" and cared about one being happy with the wine,
Didn't realize you served BRUNCH.. GREAT!
Back .. abslolutely!!!
Our party of 3 all had burgers because we were short on time. We all agreed they were very good. We couldn't hear each other because the music was so loud. It was a Friday night, 6ish, most patrons were sitting outside and we were only one table of maybe 4 that were inside. Servers attention was next to impossible to get. He never looked in our direction. Y
this was my second time. the first time I loved the chopped shrimp salad and the ahi poke. Met up with friends and enjoyed a table outside on a beautiful summer night. Great food, vibrant activity on Bedford Street and all around a great time. This restaurant has really good food and the bar area is amazing. Loud, though!
Food and service were good -- but the music was pretty loud so we opted to eat outside. It was a good solution... We had a good time overall. My only complaint -- and it isn't much of one -- was that my steak frittes had too many fries. No room on the plate for my steak (which was excellent). Overall, we'd go again.
It was so difficult to find a parking spot in the evening, though, my parents, kids, my husband and I were so happy with the sea foods,a steak and desserts. I like they tasted a little bit Asian. Sometimes it was difficult to talk on the table ,because sounds of music were so loud, but it might make you feel excited. Especially I like their desserts. I would return definitely with my family.
This was our first time and quite frankly we were a bit leery of the online reviews but all the critics are wrong, the food, service and ambience were all outstanding. We will definitely be back to try brunch so we can sit outside and enjoy the weather and good food.
Took our Mom there for mothers day 2013, arrived at scheduled time for reservation, however ended up waiting 20 mins for a table, which wasnt the best thing for her, but they were pleasant and apologetic. After we were finally seated, the server came up and greeted us immediately before we had a chance to look at the menu for drinks so we said to give us a few, 20 mins later she returned to take the order, again not the best but kept it pleasant. After that things smoothed out a bit, Mom got the unlimited Mimosa's for $15 with brunch(BTW 1 drink with Brunch even if coffee included would have been nice) she enjoyed them, told the server early on if you see the glass empty, make sure another is on the way and she did so! food was good.
I took my family there for Mother's Day brunch. What a mistake. We waited an hour for undercooked, inedible food that was ordered off the prix fixe menu! This was not a complicated order -- all we wanted was Eggs Benedict and ravioli. After this fiasco, we walked across the street to Tigin where we enjoyed a delicious meal.
Food was wonderful. Ambiance is great. BUT. after repeated requests from us, we were left "begging for people to wait on us". We opted for the unlimited bloody Mary's but only got served two. So much for unlimited. After 2.5 hrs to have eggs at brunch, we finally asked for our dessert (included in fixed price brunch) to go.
Too bad. People are very nice and it seems like a nice place.
I make a better brunch for sure... We ordered the lobster dumplings and mac & cheese for appetizers and I liked the dumplings but the mac&cheese tasted bland - didn't even taste "cheesy"... we also ordered steak flautas which were also bland and the french toast was horrible! wonder bread is an even better bread than what they use for french toast... i must say the waitress was nice - slow but nice. ugh i was disappointed - would'nt go back :(
We loved it! That said, you need to be up for a big bar scene and a fair amount of noise! The menu is in three sections - soup/salad, small plates, and main courses. Frankly, I found it impossible to decide among the fabulous small plate choices, so I elected to have a small plate for appetizer, and two small plates for dinner. In some restaurants the "small plates" still cost $15 or so, but here, most of the small plates were $6 or $7. There were a couple which were expensive - which you could understnd - lamb chops or scallops - but most were very inexpensive. As usual, the wine was a bit expensive (a glass for about the cost of a bottle in the store) - but I guess that's everywhere now. I'll go back over and over for sure
