I have been there before and loved it
My husbands only complaint is that the side salad with his omelet tasted like and smelled like a rubber glove
I have been to the Hudson Garden Grill many times. The food is generally good, the atmosphere befitting the gorgeous setting and the service friendly and professional. My only wish is that they would change up the menu from time to time. It is not an extensive menu and having something new from time to time would be nice.
Wonderful additional to the experience at the NY Botanical Gardens. They always have an ecclectic menu and as memebers, we always make reservations when visiting the gardens.
We've dined here several times now. At each visit I continue to be impressed with the menu, service and overall quality. A lovely restaurant to cap off a beautiful visit to New York Botanical Gardens. Exceptional and interesting salads, delicious bread, wonderful polenta fries. Always a nice selection of wines make for the nicest time!
First off our waiter Jessica was absolutely amazing! She made great recommendations and was so kind. She always had a smile!! The food from the octopus started to the main course and last the dessert was tasteful and presented with beauty!! I was so stunned with the decor it felt like we were in the country and not in New York!! I’m already making a reservation for the next visit!!
Birthday celebration after The Orchid Show.
We enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent; will
definitely return.
The ambience is lovely. The food is very good although a bit pricey. I thought they could have given larger chunks of sweet potato with my chicken, for example. The waitpersons are very helpful and pleasant. They add to the enjoyment of the restaurant. It's quiet we were able to have a conversation. Overall it's a much better value than the packaged, fast food in the other location.
Lovely place to go after and during a visit to the NYBG!
Always a wonderful lunch! The menu changes seasonally and there is something for everyone. Food is fresh and service very friendly.
Lovely day at NYBG. The walk through the gardens to The Hudson Grill is part of the experience. The space is open, airy and lots of light. The service is first class elegant. The food choices are terrific. I enjoyed a vegan quinoa salad and my guest enjoyed the Cobb (not to be missed). A great New York experience!
Clam chowder was wonderful surprise! A delightfully different type of chowder. Great place to stop after feasting on Nature's song in the park.
It was great.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch in a lovely setting after seeing the Orchid Show.
Amazing menu choices!
Almost always where we eat when at the NYBG (unless we hi-hi over to Arthur Avenue), comfortable dining whether in dining room or outside under the marquee...there was a wonderful soft jazz track playing when I was last there; octopus was excellent, although we always miss the ‘Nosh Board’ when it’s not on the menu...A good place all around !
Been here many times and find it a great place without having to go offsite from the NYBG. A bit pricey though and the menu can be very limited for vegan customers. This time was an exception as they added Cauliflower Milanese to the vegan menu which was a very nice treat.
We always enjoy our experience in beautiful surroundings in a bright, cheerful dining room.
Hudson Garden Grill is stylish and the food is quite good with some interesting dishes on the menu. The views to the garden are lovely and the big garden photos on the inside walls are great. Service is excellent. My wife had a generously sized crab cake. I had the charcuterie board (the pepperoni was mediocre as was the flatbread, but the other items were just right). We've been before and will return.
The service was impeccable. Food was delicious. I do miss that the Little Gem salad was taken off the menu!
Desserts are spectacular! (And I’m not a dessert person!)
The best part of this restaurant is the service, which is gracious, attentive, and friendly. The only downside is the price, which is quite high for a Sunday noon meal.
I always enjoy the grille. The menu is fun and different and the atmosphere is beautiful.
Excellent food, service, wonderful environment. Wish there were heart healthy desserts.
Food is always fresh, great presentation, and a wonderful setting in the garden.
Very well prepared meal.Young lady, medium height, long, dark hair, pulled back, couldn’t have given me better service.
Love this garden and restaurant -
Great place to eat with your family. Staff is friendly and very attentive.
Always exquisitely presented and deliciously prepared. Beautiful decor, excellent service.
Go to the Grill every time I visit NYBG. It is the perfect spot to spend time after walking the garden. Never disappoints.
Very nice staff
Good job
Our server was very sweet and attentive, and the location and atmosphere were excellent!
But the reason we came was : Food, and the food was very poor!!
My omelette must have been made hours before, and just warmed up. It contained so little cheese and very small tiny pices of tomatoes. A big dissapointment!!
Also: No vinegar for the salad. Only oil. No whipping cream for the hot chocolate.
I felt they were very cheap and wanted to save money...
We had eaten there before and thought the food was outstanding. When we ate there yesterday we found the food disappointing. The Brussels sprouts were plain, not maple glazed, the omelette was small and flavorless and the truffle grilled cheese lacked any truffle flavor.
The wait staff was excellent.
Pleasant experience with good food, service, and nice views of the garden.
We have been here numerous times. The food is usually very good which is why we return in spite of the following caveats: 1) Beware of substitutions. This was Valentine's Day and there was a special menu. When I booked the reservation, the special said lobster surf and turf, however, when we ordered, the menu had changed to shrimp surf and turf and the restaurant said it had changed the menu that week but had not changed the menu online. My bad was not looking at the printed special menu when ordering because I assumed it was the same. Their bad was the menu said one vegetable but we were served a different veggie instead. When we pointed this out, the staff brought over the right vegetable. Since they had it, it should have been served initially. 2) The restaurant was not full but service was slow. However, slow service is a hallmark of this restaurant. 3) They ran out of some offerings. This, unfortunately, is usual for this restaurant. When they do run out, they should tell you when the menu comes, not when you are ready to order.
The choices were limited. The bowl for the tomato soup's odd shape made it difficult to sip. The grilled cheese was not melted. The crab cake was good and beautifully presented. The olive oil cake was a denser and wetter than expected (never had it before), but it was good. Beautiful ambience.
We chose to have lunch at the Hudson Garden Grill on a day when Botanical Garden members were previewing the orchids, and we were in good company--a lot of it. We were seated at the appointed time, a host got us water and bread right away, and the waiter took our drink order, but after that every step seemed to take a long time. When the wine arrived, we were surprised by how little was in the glass--they could be more generous considering the price. However, the salmon and the tomato soup / grilled cheese sandwich were excellent, our waiter was exceptionally pleasant and personable, and we were seated on the veranda with the lawns and trees nearby--lovely. To be fair, we have eaten at the Hudson Garden Grill before on less crowded days, and the food and drink arrived more quickly then. Maybe we'll avoid the member preview days in the future.
The menu has few items. The quality that we had previous enjoyed is not there. The variety that we used to enjoy, is just not there. I ordered the chicken breast with fingering potatoes and onion and was told the potatoes and onion were not part of the dish. When I requested the potatoes , I received many potatoes and no vegetable. This was a disappointment.
This is a very pretty restaurant and a great place to eat when visiting the Botanical Garden. Reservations are a must.
This new age restaurant is located in one of the most unique spaces in the City and provides an opportunity to work up an appetite for a wonderful lunch. The staff is well versed to making each visitors experience enjoyable and commit themselves to professional service. The menu provides enough selections for all and the food is fresh and tasty, with an adequate wine list. This restaurant is one of the reason that I schedule attendance at whatever new exhibit opening at the Garden.
Great good, great service. The grilled octopus was outstanding. So was the coliflor steak.
Our waiter made a mistake with the bottle of Chardonnay we ordered. It was not an issue. She corrected her mistake without a hitch.
Enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant but food quality has declined the last several years.
Hostess was extremely rude. Omelet was swimming in water. Orders were incorrect. Forgot soup. Delivered salad instead of fries. Luckily, there was a lovely couple sitting next to us who made the lunch totally worthwhile.
